Open Doors from Quarantine ( 1)

41   And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”

42   Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.

43   And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he set him over all the land of Egypt.

44   Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”

45   And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-Paaneah. And he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On. So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. Gen41:41-45

An open door awaits the child of God, who trusts in Him, depends on Him. He did it for Joseph. He can do it for you too. Just maintain your excellence, reliability integrity and purity. No matter the opposition, it will turn out to be an opportunity for your promotion and even an unprecedented open door.

Joseph had a big dream but as he innocently told his family, he ran into trouble. Whilst his father hid the matter in his heart, his brothers not only envied him but hated him and his guts (Gen 37:6-7). However he had the audacity to dream again despite their initial disgust and dismay and outrage (Gen 37 :9). The interpretations of the dreams were in no doubt: they would be subservient to him (Gen 37:8). The preferential treatment he got from his dad compounded issues. He specially tailored a coat of many colours for him as daddy’s pet. He knew it. His dad knew it. They knew it. ( Gen37:3) And so they wanted to put his light out at the earliest opportunity. They wanted that dream dead and buried.

The opportunity came when Jacob sent Joseph on errand, to go see if they were alright in the forest. When they saw him from afar they said, “Behold, the dreamer comes. Let’s kill him and see what will come of the dream.” V19

Soon they proceeded with their clandestine and wicked plan. Joseph was stripped of his coat and dumped in a dish awaiting execution. Then one of his brothers pleaded for him.” “Let’s sell him and make some money instead of killing him. V 22
Some traders emerged and the transaction was completed and Joseph was sold away as a slave. He ended up in Egypt, bought by an army officer – Potiphar. V25-28

God was with Joseph and caused him to excel and have favour with his master. He served his master so well that he left everything in his charge. He knew that Joseph was God – fearing and he was being blessed on account of Joseph’s presence. The success of Joseph was astounding. Gen 39:1-3

Meanwhile, Potiphar’s wife lusted after Joseph because of his good looks and build. She constantly pestered him to make love to her but Joseph refused, considering it a great wickedness, more so in view of his standing with his master. But she would not stop.
One day when he entered her room to do his chores, she grabbed him and tried to force him to make love to her against his will. Joseph refused her overtures to compromise his purity and integrity and ran away, leaving his coat with her. Gen 39:7-13

She screamed and wailed to attract the attention of the neighbours accusing Joseph of attempted rape. Joseph denied it but it was her word against his. His master believed her, albeit reluctantly, and Joseph was sent to prison. What a sad day it was! Talk of bad things happening to good people.

However, even in prison, Joseph displayed his excellent and exceptional character. This brought favour and an opening for him to be made an overseer of other prisoners. (Gen.39:20-23)

Do you have a dream that has been oppose or barricaded by circumstances? Have you found yourself in quarantine despite your good deeds, integrity and purity?  Have you lost your job as a result of the lock down from CORONA19 ? Or are you imprisoned at home but working from home and wondering when all this lock down would end? If so maintain your character and faith in God, wherever you have found yourself. God will give you an open door if your expect it. It could be a door to witness to friends online or from home or a door of promotion as you display excellence and loyalty to your employers even at such desperate times.

In jail Joseph cared for other inmates and that character opened the door for him to be made an overseer. He also noticed the sad countenance of other inmates and inquired what was wrong. They opened up to him-sharing their dreams which he interpreted. They were subsequently released just as he had predicted. He pleaded with one of them not to forget him when he was restored to his former role as a butler to the King. However he forgot him for two years.

Then the King dreams a dream that perplexed him and no one could interpret it. This was when the butler remembered Joseph and told the King about Joseph and how he interpreted his dream and that of his inmate and it came true.

Joseph was summoned to the palace where the king relayed his dream to him. Joseph interpreted the dream: that there would be seven years of plenty in the land and seven years of famine. However the famine would be so severe that the seven years of plenty would be forgotten. He advised the King to look for someone to administer the years of plenty so that they do not starve to death. Gen 41:29-36

The Pharaoh was so impressed that he not only pardoned Joseph, but promoted him from prisoner to Prime Minister.

“See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”

So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt

What an opening for Joseph!

The Pharaoh gave him a chariot, his ring and a robe and Joseph was feted, honoured all through the land. Within 24 hours his life was completely transformed.  God can do the same in your life, despite your quarantine or lock down. Expect an opening, an opportunity, an open door, a supernatural favour or promotion. Remember, “All things work together for good to those who love God and who are the called according to purpose.” You have to stand on this scripture and ask the Holy Spirit that good thing that He has ordained for you during this lock down. If you seek Him about it earnestly, you will find it.

If you are a writer, expect God to open your eyes to write a best-seller even from what is happening as a result of this unprecedented lock down. If you are a songwriter, it can be a time to write a song that will go viral on all social media platforms. Expect great things from a great God.

Joseph had a dream from God and it appeared everything was working against him, but God allowed those things to bring Joseph to the place of the fulfilment of his dream, assignment and purpose.

Similarly your opposition will bring opportunity, promotion, open doors, acclaim, stupendous success that will resound for many years. And when that opportunity comes, use it to the glory of God. Give your very best. Do not forget where you came from.

Joseph despite not going to a university and studying a degree in finance and economics, excelled in his administration of the food and produce in the time of prosperity and bumper harvest. He sought the face of God who opened the door for him to give him wisdom to manage the plenty in an impressive way so that in the time of famine Egypt became a place where others came for food. Besides, his brothers also wandered into Egypt and were flabbergasted to find that their brother whom they sold was now in charge as the Prime Minister. Joseph, rather than take revenge against them, took care of them. Whilst they trembled, he comforted them, saying it was not their fault. They meant it for evil but God meant it for good to preserve the lives of many in future.

5 But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.
6 For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting.
7 And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. Gen 45:5-8

So expect the Supernatural hand of God in your quarantine. God is still the same. Expect your opening, your opportunity, your ‘light –bulb- moment’. It could be a new job opportunity. It could be an opportunity to witness and lead someone or people to Christ. It could be the opening of an online mega-business that makes you a household name or brand. It could be a new skill or sets of skills you develop whilst on lock down that sets you up for life. Make the most this opportunity. The path of the righteous is like a shining light that shines brighter and brighter to the full light of day. (Prov. 4:18)

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength; Ps84:5-7

Take this word and mix it with faith and run with it and make this lock down or quarantine work big for you.

I am lifted above depression, above stagnation, above oppression, above retrogression. I am lifted in my intimacy With my God. I am lifted to greater glory, higher heights and deeper depths. My coast is enlarged, my territory is expanded, favour follows me; goodness and mercy follow me. I am lift in my love, lifted in my faith, lifted in prayer and study of the word. I am lifted in my finances, family, in my spirit, soul and body. I am lifted in my thoughts. I think higher thoughts. Whatsoever things are true, pure, just, honourable, praise-worthy, lovely, of good report, virtuous, I think of such things. I am lifted in my relationships. I am lifted in my purpose, assignment and dream. I am lifted in my business, lifted in my career. I am lifted in my creativity, in innovation, in my prayer and my bible studies. I am lifted in my  going out and coming in.

I am lifted in the city, lifted in the country-side. Whatever I lay my hands to do prospers. I am lifted above principalities and powers. Every yoke is broken. Every fetter is shattered. Every chain is broken. I am lifted-my body is lifted. My health is lifted. My  house is lifted. My perspective in life is lifted. I am lifted from the curse of the law. I am lifted from the bondage and ravages of sin. I am lifted from penury and poverty. I am lifted into prosperity, purposeful living, healing, health, wealth. I am lifted from fear, guilt and condemnation into boldness, love, power and sound mind.

I am lifted and blessed, adorned, beautified, given treasures of darkness and hidden riches in secret places. I am lifted from darkness and translated into the kingdom of light- the kingdom of God’s dear Son. I am lifted from serfdom and captivity into freedom and liberty unparalleled and joy unspeakable and full of glory.

I am lifted into the presence of the Most High. And in His presence is fullness of joy and at His right hand there are pleasures for evermore. I am lifted from failure into Good Success. I am lifted from defeat into winning ways. Thanks be to God who always causes me to triumph. Thanks be to God who gives me the victory. Grave where is your victory? Death where is your sting? I am more than a conqueror. I am an overcomer, lifted into dominion and mastery. I am lifted from decadence, indolence and mediocrity into excellence, prominence and prevalence.

Whatever I touch is lifted. Whatever I am involved in is lifted. I am lifted above every barriers, hurdles, struggles, squabbles, manacles and obstacle. I am lifted into the miraculous, the stupendous and the spectacular, signs and wonders. I am born for signs and wonders. I know I was born for such a time as this. And I will fulfil my vision, my calling, my purpose and assignment.

I am LIFTED! Glory to God.

The Righteousness Shall Flourish (by Fenny West)

THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL FLOURISH

marketing ode don't quit17 ps92 12 to 14 peace2 eph2 14 crdaniel fresh and flourishing waiting leave a legacy

The righteous shall ever flourish.

They shall never ever perish.

They shall remain fresh and green,

More than any eyes have seen;

More than any ears have heard;

More than any mind can comprehend.

Even at old age,

They’ll be wine that’s vintage;

Tasting sweeter and sweeter with age.

Disdain brings them gain.

Imprisonment becomes a ladder to the palace, like Joseph.

Opposition births promotion, productivity and prosperity.

Barriers birth blessings, beauty and boldness.

Ferocious winds carry them like eagles, as they soar to untold heights.

They’re always wise and find a place by Him where they stand upon a rock.

They’ll be fruitful and youthful at any age; at any stage.

Because of the sterner stuff they’re made.

They go from glory to glory, Beholding daily the Face of the Holy.

They make the valley of Bacca, a place of spring and  spring-board for elevation.

In the furnace they are refined, rekindled, redirected, rejuvenated, repositioned and revived to come forth like gold, like Job of old.

Their set-backs are set-ups for a lift up.

As trees of righteousness, they grow as Cedars of Lebanon and become  a forest of rest.

They will always see God’s faithfulness, goodness and lovingkindness.

And at night they will have a song to cheer those that mourn.

Yes, as Trees of Righteousness, they have a glorious destiny- becoming a stalwarts and great success.

They leave a lasting God-glorifying legacy. The righteous shall flourish!

Peace, be still! Your time will come ( by Fenny West)

When you are at the back of the queue

And time seems to be running out

And you begin to think you’re stewed

And your patience is running out

Peace, be still! Your time will come.

When Goliath is taunting

And Pharaoh is pursuing

And you seem to take a step forward

And two steps backward

Peace, be still! Your time will come.

When God seems to be silent

And your trials refuse to relent

And your faith seems to be waning

And your doubt seems to be growing

Peace, be still! Your time will come.

When your wife wants you curse God and die

Or your husband has banded with your enemy

And you seemed to be outnumbered;

Remember: One with God is majority

Peace, be still! Your time will come.

When the winds of adversity blow

And the furnace is heated seven times hotter

And  you’re  beginning to  wonder:

Where is God in all this matter and palava

Peace, be still! Your time will come.

Ps102:13
14 If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, Till my change comes.
Job14:14

Joseph’s Rise to Power
37 So the advice was good in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of all his servants.
38 And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?”
39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you.
40 You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.”
46 Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.
Gen41:

Genesis 21: Isaac Is Born
1 And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had spoken.
2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him — whom Sarah bore to him — Isaac.
4 Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.
5 Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.
6 And Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.”
7 She also said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.”
Psalms 126: A Joyful Return to Zion A Song of Ascents.
1 When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, ” The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things for us, And we are glad.
4 Bring back our captivity, O LORD, As the streams in the South.
5 Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy.
6 He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him.

Isaiah 35: The Future Glory of Zion
1 The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;
2 It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, The excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the LORD, The excellency of our God.
3 Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees.
4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted, ” Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.”
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert.
7 The parched ground shall become a pool, And the thirsty land springs of water;
10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

10 And the LORD restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
11 Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.
12 Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
13 He also had seven sons and three daughters.
16 After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations.
17 So Job died, old and full of days.Job42:

27 Why do you say, O Jacob, And speak, O Israel: ” My way is hidden from the LORD, And my just claim is passed over by my God”?
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Isa40:27:31
God Will Remember Zion
14 But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, And my Lord has forgotten me.”
15 ” Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you.
16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.
Isa49:14-16
Isaiah 54: A Perpetual Covenant of Peace
1 “Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate Than the children of the married woman,” says the LORD.
2 ” Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes.
3 For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited.
4 ” Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; For you will forget the shame of your youth, And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

WHERE’S YOUR FINANCIAL SECURITY?

‘…riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.’ PROVERBS 27:24

One large insurance company advertises itself as ‘the Rock,’ claiming to be the foundation of your financial security. Remember when we trusted these strap lines? Not anymore; it’s not the same world. Financial uncertainty characterises today’s world of failing banks, crumbling investment giants, shrinking multinational corporations, swelling queues of the under-employed and unemployed, plus an epidemic of fear plaguing the hearts of the currently-employed. For the young, the joy of graduation has become the stress of university debts and a shrinking job market. Many older people are trading in their retirement dreams for a new twenty- first century reality: ‘work till you drop.’ In such times, where can we turn? To politicians? To government? To the next get-rich-quick guru? The Bible says, ‘…riches do not endure forever, and a crown [human government] is not secure for all generations.’ (Proverbs 27:24 NIV) What’s the answer? Turn to the only reliable source of security: God! There’s no financial crisis in His kingdom! Israel hungered and thirsted and He sent them fresh manna, and water from the rock. He assigned ravens to feed Elijah, multiplied oil and flour to sustain a destitute widow’s family, fed thousands from a boy’s lunch of five loaves and two fish. And He asks us: ‘…is anything too difficult for Me?’ (Jeremiah 32:27 NAS). No! So: 1) Trust God to provide for you. 2) Do what He tells you to do. 3) Believe that God ‘will.’ ‘The lambs will provide you with clothing, and the goats with the price of a field. You will have plenty…to feed you and your family…’ (Proverbs 27:26-27 NIV).

I am blessed because of your powerful, dynamic, razor sharp word in me. It is a light to my path and a lamp unto my feet. It is even medicine to my body. Therefore i desire it more than my daily food like Job. Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor seats in the seat of God mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and on His law he meditates day and night.  For he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruit in due season. His leaves also shall not wither and whatever he does shall prosper. (Ps1:1-3 Heb4:12, Prov4:22-24, Ps119:105,130,165)

easter 5 he rose again

Thank You Father that Jesus did not just die, but He rose again from the dead on the third day. Therefore every dead dream in my life shall be resurrected to the glory of God. I shall fulfil vision, enter that promised land flowing with milk and honey , regardless of the giants. Every giant and goliath shall be bread to me. If the Lord delights in me, he will bring me into the Land. If God be for me, who can be against me? Therefore neither death, nor life nor principalities nor powers impending or threatening, nor things to come nor height nor depth; nothing shall by any means separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. In all these things I am more than a conqueror. (Rom8:37-39, John11, 20, Num14, Jos1)

I am blessed because I can come boldly into your presence without any protocol. It was you who said: Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and help in time of need. You said, ‘Call upon Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you know not yet of. You said he shall call upon me and i will answer him. i will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and deliver him. You said call upon me in the day of trouble and I will deliver you and you will glorify me. Ask of me and I will give you the nations for your inheritance, the uttermost part of the earth for your possession.

I am blessed in my finances because silver and gold belong to you; the earth in all its fullness belongs to You. And I belong to you. No good thing will you withhold from those who walk uprightly. You are no man’s debtor. Those who sow bountifully will also reap bountifully. Those who give shall be given, good measure, pressed down and running over. It was you who promised those who tithe, that You will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessing upon them such that there will not be room enough to contain it. You are not a man that you should lie. I thank you that I my need shall be met according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. For even though He was rich, He became poor, that I through His poverty might become rich. Thank You, my Father that you delight in the prosperity of your servant. You preside so you will provide. I am blessed in my security because he who dwells in the secret peace of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord He is my Refuge and my fortress, My God in Whom I trust. Surely He will save me from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. A thousand may fall at my right hand, ten thousand at my left, but the evil will not come near me. Only with my eye will I see the punishment of the wicked. Jesus is my peace. Salvation belongs to the Lord. The battle is not mine; no weapon forge against me prospers. Every tongue that condemns I will show to be in the wrong. God is my refuge and my ever present help. I am putting on the whole armour of God and the every plan of the enemy shall be annulled. Every Goliath will bite the dust as in the day of David. By the grace of God I will use Goliath’s weapon to cut off his head. God will fight for me and I will hold my peace.(Ps91,Ps46, 1Sam17, Eph6:10-18)

I am blessed in my mind because I have the mind of Christ. I think God’s thoughts- whatsoever is pure, just, true, honest, admirable, praise worthy. I mind my mind. I refused to be conformed to the pattern of this world but I am transformed by the renewing of my mind and follow after what is that good acceptable and perfect will of God for my life. God’s word is my command. God’s word determines with finality all my decisions. I think possibility because my God is able to do exceeding abundantly far above what i am able to think, imagine or even dream of. All things are possible to those who believe. If God said, it, I believe it and that settles it. I see beyond the seen. I see through God’s eyes. Eyes has not seen, ears have not heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him. All things work together for good for those who are the called according to His purpose. (Phil4:8, Rom8:28, 1Cor2:9)

Two Processions, One God

Often I get confused about the workings of God when I see the righteous prospering or those who know him but have abandoned him, doing better. It baffles me. What’s going on?”

This was the confession of a sweet saint.

I don’t think she is alone in this confusion, bafflement and disturbance. There are many saints in that boat of the crises of faith.

32   And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets:

33   who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,

34   quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

35   Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.

36   Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment.

37   They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented —

38   of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.

39   And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise,

40   God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.

Heb11:32-40

The palmist was there.

2     But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; My steps had nearly slipped.

3     For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

4     For there are no pangs in their death, But their strength is firm.

5     They are not in trouble as other men, Nor are they plagued like other men.

6     Therefore pride serves as their necklace; Violence covers them like a garment.

7     Their eyes bulge with abundance; They have more than heart could wish.

8     They scoff and speak wickedly concerning oppression; They speak loftily.

9     They set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue walks through the earth.

10   Therefore his people return here, And waters of a full cup are drained by them.

11   And they say, “How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?”

12   Behold, these are the ungodly, Who are always at ease; They increase in riches.

13   Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, And washed my hands in innocence.

Ps73:2-13

The prosperity of the wicked is set to destroy them; it’s a snare, a trap, a deception, delusion, leading them gradually into a bottomless pit. They are goaded, blindfolded and taken to the slaughter.  If they knew it they will run for their dear life. The god of this age has blinded their eyes so they cannot see.  What they consider freedom is actually imprisonment. What is presented as enjoyment is gradual, stealthy dismemberment by their enemy.

When prosperity makes you put on the coat and character of Satan- pride- as a necklace, and violence as a garment, you know you are prepared for the chop. When you are so puffed up that you point the finger at your Maker and scoff and speak wickedly concerning oppression; …( and ) speak loftily.

9     ..set (your) mouth against the heavens, … you know you are on a slippery slope to destruction.

Thank God the Psalmist saw reality, understood the workings of God.

However it did not happen until he went into the sanctuary of God. It is in the secret place that we see differently, clearly from a vantage point, just as watchmen see the enemy from afar and warn those below. At the holy hill of the Lord, we see through God’s eyes and are in no doubt that ‘there is a way that seems right unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death.’

37   Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright; For the future of that man is peace.

38   But the transgressors shall be destroyed together; The future of the wicked shall be cut off.

Ps37:37-38

…He shall destroy many in their prosperity.Dan8:25

For the choir director; by David.

1 Godless fools say in their hearts,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt.
They do disgusting things.
There is no one who does good things.

In my conversation with the sweet saint who was confused we looked at John the Baptist- the forerunner of Jesus. He recognised his purpose, embraced it, prepared for it and introduced Jesus to the world.

Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! “ John 1:29

“A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.

28   You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’

29   He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled.

30   He must increase, but I must decrease.

31   He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.

John3

6     But when Herod’s birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod.

7     Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask.

8     So she, having been prompted by her mother, said, “Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter.”

9     And the king was sorry; nevertheless, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he commanded it to be given to her.

10   So he sent and had John beheaded in prison.

11   And his head was brought on a platter and given to the girl, and she brought it to her mother.

12   Then his disciples came and took away the body and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

Matt14:6-12

The question arose:

‘Why was he cut off in his prime, and so gruesomely? Why did God not stop it?’

Was God powerless or careless?

There are two processions of God- those He ‘takes out’ and those He ‘takes through.’

Therefore there are certain pits, calamities, atrocities, sufferings that He will take us out from and there are others that He will take us through. He determines what the situation will be.

James, a disciple, was martyred, but Peter was sent an angel who led him out as the saints prayed for him, even though they did not believe in their prayer. Acts 12 God took Peter out of martyrdom at that time because his work was not done.  However when the time came for Him to depart, he was crucified, albeit upside down as he requested, He did not want to die like Jesus, his Master.

Two processions, One God!

Acts 12: Herod’s Violence to the Church

1     Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church.

2     Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

3     And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. Now it was during the Days of Unleavened Bread.

4     So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.

Peter Freed from Prison

5     Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.

6     And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison.

7     Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands.

8     Then the angel said to him, “Gird yourself and tie on your sandals”; and so he did. And he said to him, “Put on your garment and follow me.”

9     So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.

10   When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.

11   And when Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people.”

Acts12:1-11

God was very much in control of His two processions.

CG5C

Many years ago as a foreign student in London, I did some part-time cleaning work without a work permit. Many other foreign students (friends of mine, even fellow-Christains), did it to make ends meet. We were in the black economy. I was caught and put in custody overnight where I almost sang my heart out past midnight, thinking there will be a jail-quake as it happened to Paul and Silas.

To my great disappointment it did not happen.

Later on another occasion, I was caught again and that led to my being exiled. I was threatened with deportation which drove me to Ireland where I continued my studies. God was still in control. My friends who lived in the same house with me were never caught. They went on to get married and had jobs and a permanent stay while I was caught in another country.

God however used the mishap to bring me closer to Him. He gave me financial testimonies as someone in England volunteered to pay my fees and maintenance if i was allowed to study in Ireland.

Many songs were composed while I was in this valley and I sang them in Churches in Ireland. It was there also that I preached my first message in a Church which recognised the hand of God upon my life despite the vicissitude of life that brought me to Ireland.

What am I trying to say here? My friends were spared- taken out, but I was taken through. Was God fair and good on but accounts? Definitely so!

In the fullness of time, I completed my Irish Times and returned to England.

Looking at Paul’s sufferings, he would have been killed many times but God preserved his life.  In fact on one occasion he died and the believers gather round him and he rose up when he had completed his work, he knew the time was up and he bowed out gracefully. He was beheaded and went in a blaze of glory.

Suffering for Christ

22   Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I.

23   Are they ministers of Christ? — I speak as a fool — I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often.

24   From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one.

25   Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep;

26   in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

27   in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness —

28   besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches.

29   Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I do not burn with indignation?

30   If I must boast, I will boast in the things which concern my infirmity.

31   The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying.

32   In Damascus the governor, under Aretas the king, was guarding the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desiring to arrest me;

2Cor11:

The Thorn in the Flesh

7     And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

8     Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.

9     And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10   Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2Cor12:

209[1]

Arrested in the Temple

26   Then Paul took the men, and the next day, having been purified with them, entered the temple to announce the expiration of the days of purification, at which time an offering should be made for each one of them.

27   Now when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews from Asia, seeing him in the temple, stirred up the whole crowd and laid hands on him,

28   crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, the law, and this place; and furthermore he also brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.”

29   (For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)

30   And all the city was disturbed; and the people ran together, seized Paul, and dragged him out of the temple; and immediately the doors were shut.

31   Now as they were seeking to kill him, news came to the commander of the garrison that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

32   He immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them. And when they saw the commander and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.

33   Then the commander came near and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and he asked who he was and what he had done.

34   And some among the multitude cried one thing and some another. So when he could not ascertain the truth because of the tumult, he commanded him to be taken into the barracks.

35   When he reached the stairs, he had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the mob.

36   For the multitude of the people followed after, crying out, “Away with him!”

Acts21

Paul himself persecuted, tortured, maimed and murdered Christians before he was arrested by God on the road to Damascus. Those he could not kill were ‘taken out’ and those he killed were ‘taken through’.

Paul’s Valedictory

6     For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.

7     I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

8     Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

2Tim4:6-8

Stephen

205[1]

This was a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit and use to do many miracles, signs and wonders, yet he was siezed, tortured and murdered.

3     Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;

4     but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

5     And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,

6     whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.

7     Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.

Stephen Accused of Blasphemy

8     And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.

9     Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen.

10   And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

Acts6

Israel Resists the Holy Spirit

51   You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

52   Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers,

53   who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.

Stephen the Martyr

54   When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.

55   But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,

56   and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

57   Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord;

Acts7

Polycarp

In the Martyrdom, Polycarp is recorded as saying on the day of his death, “Eighty and six years I have served him,”, “How then can I blaspheme my King and Saviour? Bring forth what thou wilt.” Polycarp was burned at the stake for refusing to burn incense to the Roman Emperor., stabbed when the fire failed to touch him ‘

In your life you will experience these two occasions being taken out of a situation or being taken through it, His grace being sufficient for you. The same applies to me.  We will continue to be required walk by faith. Ours is to pray and God’s is to answer as He deems fit in line with our purpose.

Jesus came to redeem fallen man. He had to go through the way of the cross. It was gruesome, painful, costly, but He had to do it, yield to the Father to take Him through. Before the cross, they tried to kill Him but they could not.

So in what procession are you in what you are facing? You need divine insight to be able to press on until you finish your assignment. God is good all the time.  All things work together for good to those who love God and who are the called according to His purpose.

Shadrack Meshach and Abednego were three Hebrew children who were righteous, loyal, devoted and dedicated wholeheartedly to the Lord.  They had made up their minds not to defile themselves even though God had allowed them to be taken into captivity, exile and  treated as slaves in a foreign land. Then they were favoured to be chosen as one of the King’s special aides. This was a privileged position but required being fattened up to look presentable before the king. They chose to forfeit the delicacies of the King and make do with vegetables.  That was their first test which they passed. God honoured their stance and made them ten times better than their compatriots when the time of reckoning came.(Dan1:16-20)

Later,  a bigger test came when the King built the image of gold and wanted everyone to bow to it when they heard the music play. The three Hebrew men refused to bow. They faced a penalty of being thrown into a fiery burning furnace that had been heated seven times hotter than usual.

Their resolve and faith were unequivocal:

O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.

17   If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.

However they went from faith to trust:

18   But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”

If their stand meant going up in flames as living sacrifices or burnt offering to their God, they were prepared for it. If God deemed it fit not to deliver them- take them out-they were ready for it. If He opted to take them through the fire, so be it. They went from faith to trust. They trusted His good judgement. They knew God is good all the time and knows best.

The result of that trust was that they were bound and thrown into the furnace. The furnace was so hot that the flames sucked up those strong, macho men who threw them in.

However, the three Hebrew children who were thrown in bound were set free by the fire and walked in freedom in the flames. So that which designed to undo them set them free. Glory be to God.

In the same way your fire which God has allowed will set you free for freedom. It will set you free to fulfil vision, glorify your God.

The King came later on to see their corpses but was greeted with a glorious movie.  Instead of seeing three, he saw four and became confused and enquired:

“Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”

25   “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

Nebuchadnezzar overwhelmed!

Praises God

26   Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.” Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire.

27   And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.

28   Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!

29   Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”

30   Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego in the province of Babylon.

Their persecution brought God’s exaltationand their promotion!
