Dead Dreams Shall Live (by Fenny West)

Between the incubation and gestation of a dream, there will be contention, opposition, ambush, disdain and trial of your faith.
But as you stand and dig your heels, and set your face like as flint, you will triumph like Moses, like Joseph and like Daniel, like David and Nehemiah.

Are you in contention regarding your dream? Is your dream fiercely opposed? The greater the opposition, the greater the dream.
Stand still and you will see the salvation of the Lord. Stand still before the Red Sea and He will part it for you to walk on dry ground. 

Be bold and use the authority He has given to you. Use what He has deposited in you. Be uncompromising and unapologetic. Be audacious about whom you believe, what you believe and keep saying it, regardless of what you see or what people say or how you feel.  Use the prophetic word to wage a good warfare and win. Use the Name of Jesus. Go in the power of the Holy Spirit. Use the sword of the Spirit.

Dead dreams shall live like those dry bones in the valley seen by Ezekiel. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. And if the Spirit of He Who raised Jesus from the dead indwells you, He that raised Christ from the dead will quicken your mortal body, your mortal dream, your dead dream.

 This is a series of messages focusing on various dead or seemingly dead circumstances which God brought back to life by His Spirit. There is no hopeless situation with God, when you trust Him. Listen and meditate on the messages as you have your dead dream at heart and be expectant to hear what God will say to you and whatever He says, do it and your dream shall rise and speak and not lie or remain dead.

 Joseph- Jacob’s Dead Dream

You may wonder, how could Joseph be a “dead dream?”

If you ask Jacob, he would tell you he was his dead dream. He was the apple of his eyes, the son of his old age, the first son of Rachel, the woman he loved and served Laban for 14 years before she was given to him. Joseph was Jacob’s jewel, his gold, his prized possession. And that was why he made a coat of many colours for him.

And you know about Joseph’s grandiose dream and how he innocently shared this dream and how it sparked off envy and animosity from his brothers against him.

4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. 9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

Gen37:4,5,9

One day whilst on an errand from his dad to take some nourishment to his brothers who were in the forest, they found the opportunity to snuff out his dream. They initially contemplated killing him and hence killing the dream. However, one of them had a second thought and advised against such extreme and wicked measure so they sold him instead to some merchants who bought him and took him to Egypt where he was sold to Potiphar, an Egyptian army officer. Gen37:19-28

Meanwhile, his brothers took his coat of many colours and killed and animal and sprinkled its blood on the coat and took it to their dad, pretending that they saw that coat in the forest and did not know what had transpired. They wanted their dad to come to his own conclusions.

Of course, Jacob was so distraught, devastated, and mourned uncontrollably, concluding that an animal had killed Joseph. He could not be consoled for a long time. He mourned for Joseph, presumed dead. Gen37:31-35

Joseph was about 17 years of age then. And after about 13 years, there was a severe famine in the land and Jacob got news that there were grains in Egypt, so he sent his children to Egypt to go and get some to avoid starving to death.

On arrival, they met the Administrator or Prime Minister who recognised them but pretended he did not know them. He interrogated them, accused them of coming to spy the land. He wanted to know intimate details of their family and they told him one of them was dead and there was the last born, back home with their dad.

He gave them the grains they wanted but held one of the as a surety pending when they brought the last born to verify that they were not spies.

They arrived home to discover that they money they had paid for the grains were in the bags.  And when they told their father what had transpired and how they were asked to bring the last born, Jacob was so, so sad. He taught everything was against him.


And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me. Gen42:36

Little did he know that all things were working together for his good.

Later on, they went back with Benjamin and Joseph revealed himself as their brother whom they sold. They were terrified and very sad and regretted their vendetta and crime. But their bother was merciful, kind and generous and saw the bigger picture and rather than condemn them, encouraged and consoled them, alluding that it was a divine predestination.

15 Moreover he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him.

16 And the fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh’s house, saying, Joseph’s brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.

17 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye; lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of Canaan;

They were given the best of the land – Goshen

18 And take your father and your households, and come unto me: and I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat the fat of the land.

19 Now thou art commanded, this do ye; take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come.

20 Also regard not your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is your’s.

21 And the children of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them wagons, according to the commandment of Pharaoh, and gave them provision for the way.

22 To all of them he gave each man changes of raiment; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five changes of raiment.

23 And to his father he sent after this manner; ten asses laden with the good things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with corn and bread and meat for his father by the way.

24 So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that ye fall not out by the way.

25 And they went up out of Egypt, and came into the land of Canaan unto Jacob their father,

Jacob’s Dead Dream Came Back To Life

26 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt. And Jacob’s heart fainted, for he believed them not.

27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:

28 And Israel said, It is enough; Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him before I die. Gen45:15-28

Dead Dreams shall live!

Jacob thought Joseph was dead but God had done the miraculous, turned his table around, given him laughter in the place of mourning and what he thought was going against him was actually working for him.

28 And he sent Judah before him unto Joseph, to direct his face unto Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.

29 And Joseph made ready his chariot, and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and presented himself unto him; and he fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

30 And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.

After the death of Jacob, his brothers were still afraid that now that their father was dead, Joseph could turn against them, so they concocted another story and asked for forgiveness. But Joseph was magnanimous, kind, reassuring generous, graceful and merciful

17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.

19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them. Gen.50:17-21

Dead dreams shall live!

Do you have a dream that has died? This could be a dream in regard to your purpose, your business, your job or career, your relationship or your family. You may be experiencing a storm in your life and it seems all over for you and you have lost hope. You may be thinking like Jacob, “all these things are against me.” But see what the Lord has done. Jacob’s dead dream came back to life so will your dead dream ,if you will accept this word and hold on to it, regardless of what you see in the natural.

Dead dreams shall live!

All things are possible. Our God makes the impossible possible. Miracles are His specialty.

The widow of Nain lost her husband and the her only son. It was a great tragedy and they were on their way to bury the boy and Jesus intercepted them turned the hopeless situation around. The boy was raided back to life and give to His mother. What have you lost that seems to be like all is lost? It is not over until God says so. So do not despair a miracle is in store.

Lazarus was dead and four days had passed. He had been buried. Then Jesus showed up. Matha had lost hope:

“Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

24 Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:21-26

Jesus, turned the hopeless situation around.

38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.”

Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”

40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone [d]from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

He was loosed and let go!

The Widow of Zarephat was in dire need. Apart from losing her husband, she now faced famine so severe that she was down to her last meal which she wanted to eat with her son before they wait for death.

Suddenly, a prophet arrives and tells her to make some cake for him first and assured her that there will be continual supply until God brings rain.

13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. 14 For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ”

15 So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. 1Kings17:10-15 Miracle in store, only believe.

Dorcas used her gift to bless so many people that when people heard that she died, they refused to take it. They sent for Peter to come and raised her back to life. they believed that she would come back to life.

Peter came and as he saw people wailing, he sent them all out and raised Dorcas back to life.

40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord acts9:40-42

There is no hopeless situation with God. Only believe.

There was a child who was dead and his mother and others believed God and prayed. The boy was on the floor, laid on copies of Healing to the Nations Magazine. After 24 hours, the boy rose up! Glory to God.

It is noteworthy that this magazine has been used to raise over 50 people from the dead so far. What God cannot do does not exist.

Miracle in store.
