Look Beyond Yourself ( By Esther West)

LOOK BEYOND YOURSELF

WITH FOCUS ON WHAT GOD CAN DO

HEALING: Acts 3:1-11

Ask yourself this question.

Are you a child of God? And if your answer is not yes, then you need to be a child of God. How do you do this?  Good question. You need to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour as prescribed in John1:11-12:

“He came unto his own, and his own received him not, 12 but as many that received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

This is very key and necessary for a believer to be able to know who he/she is in the Lord. Romans 10:9-10 says that if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved, verse 10, for with the heart man believe unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Have you believe in the Lord Jesus with your heart and then proceed to confess him as your Lord and Saviour with your mouth? You need to answer this question rightly because you know yourself very well. Take note of Romans 3:23 that says for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. All men are sinners. And according to Romans 6:23 for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Everyone must come to realize that we are sinners and be willing to confess our sins so that we can be forgiven. The only One Who forgives and blots away our sin by his blood that was shed on the cross of Calvary is Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Let’s look at 1 John 1:7-9, which says, “but if walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his son cleanse us from all sin. V 8, if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us, V 9, if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

My beloved know who you are in the Lord. Remember that in John 3:16 the bible says “ for God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes on him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

At this instance of receiving Him we can now discuss further.

When a man becomes saved, he is now a carrier of God inside of him. That is God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. What a great person you have become through salvation! According to 2 Corinthians 5:17 which says:”Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new. This newness is an open door for exploit and excellence, God can work in you to do the unimaginable for Him in this generation and that which is to come. What an awesome opportunity you just received!

Congratulations.

Now, look beyond yourself and see with the eyes of the Spirit, and that is by faith. What then is faith?

Hebrews 11:1 says: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.”

It is receiving what you have not seen physically which is in the word of God and believing their manifestation in your life and sooner than you expect they begin to manifest.  Faith is a now force subject to proof from the word of God. In Romans 10:17 the bible says, “so then faith come by hearing and hearing by the word of God. What this means is: whatever the word of God says concerning you must come to pass if you believe it and act on it. How? God magnifies (honor) his word more than his name, in Psalms 138:2b, Believe it, see it, confess it, act on and my dear you get it. Faith without works is dead. James 1:

As a believer in the Lord Jesus, you cannot please him without faith. (Heb11:5) You must put all your trust in Him. Listen in Mark 9:33 Jesus said, “if you can believe all things are possible to him that believes.” Soak yourself in the word of God build your faith in His word. Salvation came by faith as a free gift from God. (Eph2:8-9) The measure of faith you have is a common measure that God has given to all of us (Rom12:3). This measure is given to all of us. But we need to grow our faith, using the word of God. And this growth in faith comes by hearing the word of God Rom10:17).  There are levels of faith. Jesus commended the Centurion for his great faith. (Matt8: 5-10) And when His disciples were afraid of the great storm which arose and began to fill the boat in which they were with water, whilst He slept, He arose and rebuked the wind and then asked, “Where is your faith?”

Luke 8:25,Matt.17: 21

However, we all have to start somewhere and use the faith that we have- little or big.

In other words whether it is little, like the mustard seed, if you use it in accordance with Matthew 21:22, whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive if you have (and ask in faith.  You just have to try it out by praying for something and when you receive answers to your request, your faith increases. Our God answers prayers.  How do you know that you will wake up tomorrow morning? You believe that by the grace of God you will see tomorrow and that is trusting in the Lord for the fulfilment and that it’s faith. In James 2:26 says: as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Faith demand your commitment, you must do something, pray according to God’s word, prophesy, make declaration of God’s word concerning that issue. Spend time to discover what the bible say concerning that issue and declare it over your life. Put your faith to work, because it will prove itself. It worked for others it will work for you.

The woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25-34 said: “if only l can touch the helm of his garment, l shall be made whole” and do you know what, her faith work for her. Let me inform you today, as you put your faith to work it will and must work for you. In 2 Corinthians 5:7 says for we walk by faith, not by sight. Because we are born of God we overcome the world and have victory by our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Looking at what God can do is inexhaustible. God is the Creator of the heavens and the earth and the universe. in Genesis 1:1-3, and in Matthew 28:18 all powerful in heaven and on earth belong to him. Let’s look at the miracles of some healing recorded to show that having an encounter with Him, healing is sure. He said “ I am the God that heals you. He sent His word and healed them. I will take away sickness and disease from your midst. Healing is the bread of the children. His word is medicine to our bodies. He said [2] Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

3 John2 His word is medicine to our bodies.

For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh. Proverbs4:22 ESV

In Acts 3:1-11, a man who was lame from his mother’s womb, was laid at the Beautiful Gate daily, begging for alms for so many years, and on a day like today asked to receive alms from Peter and John disciples of Jesus Christ. But Peter said “silver and gold l have not, but what l have l give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” And he took him by the right hand and raised him up and immediately his feet and ankle were made strong. And leaping up he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them walking and leaping and praising the Lord.

If he did it before he can do it again. Are you having any situation like that of the lame man or any other issue? Do not worry. Hebrews 8:13 says Jesus is the same yesterday, and today and forever. When you look beyond yourself and focus on the Lord Jesus Christ, your miracles will appear suddenly. Please remember this always: ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE TO THEM THAT BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
