1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
The dead was made alive
Given new lease of life
Because of His great love
We were born from above
Those who groped in darkness
Were brought into His brightness
Those who were lost in the world
Were rescued by God-the Word
Oh what great love and mercy
That the blind were made to see
We were raised from the gutter of life
And bestowed abundant life
Given the God-kind of life
To live for ever and die no more
He came and opened the door
He came and raised us from the floor
Gave super abundant riches to the poor.
And lavished on us His grace
So that we might see His face.
Yes by grace He saved us
By His mercy He justified us
And by His blood He redeemed us
He made atonement for us
And for good works He called us.
Now we are sitting with Him in Heaven
That is our abode and our haven
Glory be to the Most High God!
Shake It Off! and Step Up
Paul was amongst prisoner’s being taken to Rome. They had suffered a shipwreck and nearly died. When they were, downcast, depressed, in deep despair on the sea and refused food for long because of the hopeless situation, it was Paul who encouraged them to eat and share a comforting prophetic word with them that there will be no loss of life. Only the ship would be lost.
It happened just as he prophesied and they were forced to abandon the ship run for their lives to the nearest Island- Malta.
They were very cold and the Islanders were unusually kind to them by making fire for them to warm themselves. Paul went and brought sticks to buttress, fuel and enhance the fire.
As he put the sticks on the fire, suddenly from nowhere, a huge poisonous snake came out of the fire and fastened itself on his hand. He simply shook it off. The people around him began to look at him with surprise and disdain, saying, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live. They were sure he would fall down and die very soon. But nothing happened to him. They then changed their tune: “He must be a god!”Act28:1-3
As a child of God, you are the redeemed of the Lord, accepted in the beloved, healed, filled with the Holy Spirit. Greater is He in you than he who is in the world. Although in this world, you do not belong to the world. You belong to Zion. Heaven is your home. You are a child of God, purchased with a great price- the blood of Jesus. You’re the light of the world, salt of the earth, a city on a hill, God’s treasured possession, a royalty, a peculiar person, a living stone, the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and this, regardless of how you feel or what people think or say about you.
You are born of love so live a life of love. You are graced so live a life of grace. As He favoured you, favour others. See them through the eyes of God. Live a supernatural life.
And as you do, no weapon fashioned against you shall prosper. Those who conspire against you will discover to their dismay that they were working in your favour. Why? God will fight for you. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Ro8:28
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
“Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.14 The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”EX14:13-14
So be like Paul, when
Anger wraps itself round you, shake it off!
When malice wraps itself around you, shake it off!
When bitterness wraps itself around you, shake it off!
When disdain wraps itself around you, shake it off!
When unforgiveness wraps itself around you, shake it off!
When mediocrity wraps itself around you, shake it off!
When sickness wraps itself around you, shake it off!
When poverty wraps itself around you, shake it off!
When myopia wraps itself around you, shake it off!
When barrenness wraps itself around you, shake it off!
When your unpleasant past wraps itself around you, shake it off!
There was the story of an old donkey which fell into a disused well. The owner for some reasons, decided to block the well with the donkey in it. In effect he wanted to bury the donkey alive. Could you believe it? How awful! It is like some people wanting to get rid of you because you are considered a nuisance because of your condition- inherited or not.
The donkey was not amused when instead of sympathy from its owner he felt debris landing on its back from its owner.
It cried for sympathy but the sand and stones and gravels kept coming in quick succession. So the donkey made a crucial decision to shake it off and step up. It kept shaking it off and stepping up; shaking off and stepping up; shaking off and stepping up and soon to the surprise of the owner, the donkey surfaced and walked off victorious. Glory to God!
That is what you and I must do to anything God has not ordained for you that wraps itself around you.
Shake it off and step up! Shake it off and step up!
Shake it off and step up! Until you walk off in victory.
.14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.2Cor2:14
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.1Co15:57 He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.1John5:4 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”John16:33 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed —2Cor4:7-9 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.Matt11:12 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.Rev12:11
He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Shake it off and Step Up!
Living an Excellent Life
Living An Excellent Life;
Living an abundant life;
Living a Spirit-filled life;
Comes from the Word of Life.
Living, devoted to God
Living in line with the Word
Living surrendered to God
Comes from a quality decision.
Living as a living sacrifice
Living with eternity in view
Living with love in your heart
Comes from knowing who you are and whose you are
18 Now at the end of the days, when the king had said that they should be brought in, the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.19 Then the king interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they served before the king.20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.Dan1:18-20
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.John10:10
He has made you to live
An abundant life
One of purpose and passion
One that will bring adoration.
In your jar of clay is gold-
Gold that is yet untold.
This gold, God wants to unfold
Whether you‘re young or old.
Give of yourself
Live for others
We need each other.
My dear friend, seeker, enquirer,
Lend me your ears.
Hear me well.
A long time ago, man, who was united with God, fell out of fellowship with God because of sin. Sin is the transgression of the law. (Rom.3:23, -6:23) It is disobedience to your Creator; doing your own thing, going your own way; living your life outside of God. Sin is presenting your self-righteousness as sufficient to absolve you of the penalty of sin.
The fall of Adam was the origin of the fall of man- you and I. He was like the baking bread-tin for the whole of humankind. He had the dent of sin which infected and affected us all- transferred to all of us.
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.1John3:4
As a result, everyone born of a woman was separated from God; an enemy of God. We were all doomed and damned, heading for destruction with our fingers in our ears.
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,( Rom3:3) 24 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.Rom6:23
But God in His infinite mercy, because of His great love, in response to the promise He made to Abraham ‘through you all the families of the earth shall be blessed’ made a way by sending Jesus Christ-God the Son, the perfect Lamb of God, to come and die on our behalf.( John1:29) Yes, remember in Gen3:15 in the pronunciation of judgment after the fall of man God also promised salvation, redemption, restoration, atonement:
Genesis 3 15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
He was speaking about Jesus, Who was to come to rescue you and I. Jesus came in response to the passion of the God-Head:
‘ 8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ” Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” ( Isa6:8 )
God -the Son, Who knew no sin stepped out of eternity into time, in the fullness of time,( Gal4:4) took upon Him flesh-the body prepared for Him, brought the Good News of salvation to man – breaking of the chains of the man; freedom from the man of sin. He was rejected, vilified and crucified. Yes, He died in our place. (Isa53:7,10) He paid the price we could not pay. Hence He said ‘It is finished.’ (John19:30) And when the righteous demands of a just God were satisfied, Jesus was raised from the dead. Henceforth, whoever believed in Him will never perish but have everlasting life. Whoever came to Him in repentance of their sin, will in nowise be cast away. ( John 6:37). They will be forgiven of their sins and be restored. The middle wall of partition between them and God will be broken; the gap will be bridged by the cross.
Ephesians 2 14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation,…
Because, Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life. (John11) He is the Way the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the father but through Him. (John 14:6) Mohammed is not the way, Gautama Buddha is not the Way. Hare Krishna is not the Way; the Virgin Mary is not the Way. Mammon is not the way. Your righteousness or ‘dogoodism’ or ‘churchianity ‘or ‘religiousity’ or scientology is not the Way. Jesus, the Rod of Jesse, The Son of David, the Righteous Branch, the Redeemer, Emmanuel-God with us, is the Way.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.John14:6
All our righteousness is just like filthy rags before God. Religion is not the way but a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.( Isa64:6) If you will confess with your mouth: Jesus is Lord Jesus and believe with your heart that He took your sin on Calvary’s cross, you will be saved. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. If anyone is in Christ, he is a New Creature, the old has gone and the New has come. As many as received Him, He gave the power to become children of God. We are saved by grace through faith and not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Rom10:9-10, John3:3,8, 2Cor5:17, John1:12, Eph2:8-9)
Are you getting the message?
Paul, a religious man, discovered this truth after he was arrested on the way to Damascus, to falsely accuse, torture, imprison believers. He was driven by religion but he thought it was God. He later wrote:
Philippians 3:8-14 New King James Version (NKJV) 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
You and I must come to this same realisation that religion is a stumbling block. Only a RELATIONSHIP counts.
I came to this realisation over thirty years ago, as a religious man, who had piety but no integrity. I was a dead man walking, a white-washed tomb full of a dead man’s bones. I was under the clutches of sin and Satan, ensnared, trapped, yet oblivious that I was headed for oblivion- hell. I came to the realisation of my nakedness, blindness, wickedness, sinfulness, unrighteousness, separation and alienation from God. I was hell-bound, hopeless, useless, groping in the dark, dead. I fell down at the foot of the cross and repented of my sin and God forgave me. I thank God for that moment the scale fell off my eyes like Paul, like Cornelius, to realise that I needed a Saviour-Jesus Christ- and opened my heart for Him to come in. He knocked on the door of my heart:
‘Behold I stand and knock. If anyone hears My voice and open, I will come in and dine with him and he with Me.’(Rev.3:20) And I let Him in.
You too can do the same. God is no respecter of persons.
The Just Live by Faith
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
O what a blessed Day! What a glorious Day that was! I was born again. (John3:3,8) The old went and the New came. I had a brand new start, a New Beginning! (2Cor5:17) If you are reading this and you have not experience this New Birth, I have no doubt that Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart. “
Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Rom10:11,13 ” How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matt11:28-30 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John3:16 10 As it is written: ” There is none righteous, no, not one;Rom3:10 Proverbs 14 12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. ( -16:25) 2 Corinthians 6 2 For He says: ” In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Romans 13 11 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.Luke9:26 29 “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ? John4:29 Life and Judgment Are Through the Son 24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. John5:24 33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” John6:33 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” John11:25-27 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John10:10 1 John 5 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. 20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
Friend, there is a purpose to your life as there is for my life. Do not waste your life grasping the wind, pursuing shadows.
I close with some of the songs the Holy Spirit gave me for you and for me and whoever will listen.
May they speak to you and trigger a positive response.
Why not let Him in?
Why not let Master Jesus in?
Why not open, open the door to your heart?
Why not let Him in?
This Day is the Day of Salvation.
This is the acceptable time
Today, if you hear His voice
Be wise and make Him your choice
Why not let Him in?
You must be born again
