Life Is A Race-( In Christ)
Life Is A Race
Ordained of God
For all to pass
No matter your colour
Nation, language or class.
The Race starts at New Birth
When you’re Born Again
Before then you were dead in sin
Separated, alienated from God.
You begin the race as a new born babe
Needing the milk of the Word to grow.
You grow from ‘babyhood’ to ‘childhood’
To ‘adolescence,’ ‘teenager’ to ‘adulthood’ .
Each stage is a phase in this race of life.
There’s preparation required for each stage.
The strength of your foundations is vital.
It determines how far and high you can go.
Some sleep and slip by the way side, fall
And never get up. Others also fall but get up
and dust off and keep going.
In this Race of Life, you need good focus.
Distractions will come, and they’re many.
You must run with patience looking at Jesus,
Who began your race and will finish it.
The good work He began in you,
He will complete. No need to worry or be afraid.
In this Race of life, you need mentors-
Those gone ahead that you can emulate.
You must move from milk to meat,
Study to show yourself approved.
You must pray without ceasing,
Growing your faith through hearing the Word.
Discipline and pay the price
Carry your cross to get the prize,
You’re in this race right now
Do well all you know how.
Run well with patience
Run well with endurance
Fix your eyes on Jesus
Never despise the cross
Never shirk from your cross
Set your eyes on the crown ahead
Press on to finish, well ahead, the head.
Striving for a Crown
24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.
27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
Heb 12:1, 1Cor 9:24-27
Hebrews 12: The Race of Faith
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:1-2
Persevere and You Will Win
Persevere and You Will Win
Press on and You will succeed.
See the glory ahead and remain steadfast.
See the Victor’s crown on your head.
See yourself singing and dancing, with joy.
See yourself celebrated even by the sceptics,
your detractors; those who disdained you.
Man’s approval is just for a moment.
Man looks at the outward appearance
But God looks beyond the realm of the seen.
He sees the end from the beginning.
He sees the masterpiece, the winner,
the success that He has made you.
Now see through God’s eyes and go for gold.
Go and glorify God with the best you can be.
Doubt your doubts and believe your beliefs.
Refuse any second best in all you do. Victory is yours.
Remember, you are more than a conqueror; you have overcome them.
Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.
No weapon fashioned against you shall prosper.
When the enemy comes, like a flood,
the Holy Spirit will raise a standard against him.
Persevere and you will win.
14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.2Cor2:14
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.1John4:4
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1John5:4
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hold Firm in the Lord
Hold firm in the Lord
Hold firm to the end-
Rooted in the word
Run well to the end.
Have in sight the goal
Be not distracted
But feed well your soul.
Know you’re greatly loved.
Hold fast to the end
Never mind the wind.
Hold fast to your Friend.
Mind the things He minds.
Stand firm. No shaking
Stand still, believing
Your cup is: winning.
Your place is the top
Your place is reserved
And no foe can stop
Your place is deserved.
Look beyond the seen.
Let us cross over.
See what is unseen.
Lean on the Alpha and Omega.
1 Therefore , my beloved and longed-for brethren , my joy and crown , so stand fast in the Lord , beloved.Phil4:1 Phil3:12-4:1 2Cor.4:8-9,16-18 Heb12:1-3 1Tim.4:15,–6:12 Eph.6:12-18 Heb11:34-35,Jn11:43-44 Ro8:28,31,32,35,37-39 Mark4:35-5:1, Acts 1:8,Jn16:13,23,26
My life is built on the eternal Rock
My life is built on the eternal Rock
Which will never give way but will stay
Regardless of the storms that I see
I know that Jesus will make a way.
The fires that come will make me shine
And make me to radiate the glory of my God
My Life is hidden in Christ in God
I will stand according to His word.
11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1Cor3:11 Build on the Rock 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. Matt7:24-25
The Redeemer of Israel
1 But now, thus says the L
ORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: ” Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.
Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious. —1 Peter 2:4
Read:Read: 1 Peter 2:1-10
Throughout London, there are statues and other items made from a unique building material called Coade stone. Developed by Eleanor Coade for her family business in the late 1700s, this artificial stone is virtually indestructible and has the capacity to withstand time, weather, and man-made pollution. Though it was a marvel during the Industrial Revolution, Coade stone was phased out in the 1840s following Eleanor’s death, and it was replaced by Portland cement as a building material. In spite of that, however, there remain today dozens of examples of this sturdy, ceramic-like stone that have withstood the harsh London environment for over 150 years.
The apostle Peter described Jesus as a living stone. He wrote, “Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house” (1 Peter 2:4-5). Precious in the eyes of the Father is the sacrifice of the Rock of our salvation. Christ is the enduring stone upon which the Father has built our salvation and the only foundation for meaningful life (1 Cor. 3:11).
It is only as our lives are built upon His strength that we will be able to endure the harshness of life in a fallen world.
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name. —Mote
We have nothing to fear if we stay close to the Rock of Ages.
‘…Let us…love one another…’ 1 John 4:7
Love is slow to suspect but quick to trust; slow to condemn but quick to justify; slow to offend but quick to defend; slow to expose but quick to shield; slow to reprimand but quick to empathise; slow to belittle but quick to appreciate; slow to demand but quick to give; slow to provoke but quick to help; slow to resent but quick to forgive. Jerry Cook talks about a church where the people make the following pledge to each other: ‘I’ll never knowingly say or do anything to hurt you. I’ll always, in every circumstance, seek to help and support you. If you’re down and I can lift you, I’ll do that. If you need something and I have it, I’ll share it with you. If I need to, I’ll give it to you. No matter what I find out about you, no matter what happens in the future-either good or bad-my commitment to you will never change. And there’s nothing you can do about it.’ 1 Corinthians 13:7 NKJV says love: 1) ‘Believes all things.’ When someone you care about is called into question, love says, ‘That’s not the kind of person they are; that’s not what they meant.’ 2) ‘Hopes all things.’ Love sees people not just as they are, but as they can be through God’s grace. And if you let Him, God will download that kind of love into your heart. 3) ‘Endures all things.’ The word ‘endure’ is a military term. It means driving a stake into the ground. It’s like saying, ‘I’ll stand my ground in loving you.’ Today, take the love that God has given to you, and give it to others.
If you will stay
You’ll be raised
To a higher phase.
Like diamond is carbon
Under tons of pressure
To turn your glitter on
To make longevity sure.
Pressure will prune
With knife to ignite
Your night, trigger fruit
Not by your might
But by the Spirit.
The way to rise
Out of the grave
To the skies
To your domain.
