You are So Valuable – the Good about Good Friday( by Fenny West)
You Are So Valuable
What is Good about Good Friday?
Have you ever thought?
This was a time in the Christian calendar when, Jesus Christ, a righteous, sin-less man who performed many miracles and showed us who the Father looked like was falsely accused, arrested and arraigned before Pontius Pilate. He bad-mouthed, beaten, battered broken, brutalized and bleeding before He was crucified.
David captured the crucifixion scene with such graphic description
6 But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people.
7 All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
8 “He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”
9 But You are He who took Me out of the womb; You made Me trust while on My mother’s breasts.
10 I was cast upon You from birth. From My mother’s womb You have been My God.
11 Be not far from Me, For trouble is near; For there is none to help.
12 Many bulls have surrounded Me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled Me.
13 They gape at Me with their mouths, Like a raging and roaring lion.
14 I am poured out like water, And all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me.
15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death.
16 For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands and My feet;
17 I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me.
18 They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.
19 But You, O LORD, do not be far from Me; O My Strength, hasten to help Me!
20 Deliver Me from the sword, My precious life from the power of the dog.
21 Save Me from the lion’s mouth And from the horns of the wild oxen! You have answered Me.
It Pleased the Lord to Bruise Him
Ps22:6-21
3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.
11 He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.
God the Father was pleased that all these happened to Jesus. Why? It is because you are so valuable to God.
Do you know that you are so valuable to God, for Him to allow Jesus to go through all the dark, harrowing and horrific experience? So do not undermine whom God has esteemed. His for you can go through the lowest valley to rescue or the highest mountain to redeem you. See yourself as God sees you and respond to Him. No matter how far you think you have gone, He still loves you and cares you. Come as you are. We are saved by grace through faith, not of works lest any man should boast.
19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.2 Cor5:19
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.John3:16
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.2Pet3:9
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.2Cor5:17
12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts4:12
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.Rom10:9-10
You are valuable to God,
very valuable;
so valuable that
That Jesus Christ was
Vilified and Crucified for you.
He did the same for me.
This is what makes Good Friday, Good
What should our response be?
Acknowledge it by surrendering to Him,
Inviting Him to take His rightful place.
If you have done this, Wonderful!
You are an ambassador of Christ
A minister of the Gospel.
Go and tell others the Good News.
If you do not know Jesus as Lord and Saviour,
And want to invite Him into your life then say this prayer from your heart:
Lord Jesus, I realise why you had to go through hell for me.
Forgive me for living for myself. I surrender to you. Come and take our rightful place in my heart. I confess you as the Lord of my life and my Saviour.
That you that I am born again and a New Creation.
The old has gone and the New has come, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
