Keep Your Prayer Fire Ever Ablaze
Keep Your Prayer Fire Ever Ablaze
Let the candle burn both night and day
Let no trouble or persecution faze
Know that God is with you every day.
Remember to use the word as launch pad
Fire the artillery everywhere
Let this be your habit and your fad
Pray without ceasing; cast all your cares.
Burden and bother God with what burdens you
Nothing is too big and nothing is too small
Know that God is for you and is in you
Prevail in prayer and Goliath will fall.
“The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.” Leviticus 6:13
The Apostles and early Christians emphasized the importance
3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;4 but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
Jesus showed us an example to follow
35Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.Mark1:35
God is a just God and a just judge and will not ignore your fervent prayer
1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,2 saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.3 Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’4 And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man,5 yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ “
6Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said.7 And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” Luke18:1-8
There a hour of prayer. Do you have one or do you aspire to have one?
1Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.Act3:1
Prayer should be importunate, continuous and unrelenting
16 Rejoice always,17 pray without ceasing,18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Pray not only continuously but know the different kinds of prayer and the governing rules and principles
18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints –Eph6:18
Here we see a picture of prayer and action in tandem. That is what we should do.
11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.12 But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.13 So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
Know the hindrances of prayer and avoid them
Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. 1Pet3:7
Do not pray selfish Prayers; prayer for others too. Pray for the advancement and establishment of the kingdom of God.
Also learn how to make your prayer effective. Make it fervent, passionate, profuse, faith-filled and preponderant.
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
Often you may need to step up your pray level by including fasting to obtain certain defiant situations.
17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Often you may need to use the prophetic word you have received for warfare, either to encourage yourself: confessing it to yourself or using it as a weapon against the enemy who may be saying contrary things to you.
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2Cor10:3-5
1 Timothy 1
18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,
14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.1Tim4:14-16
