Pursuing Purpose with Passion

Results in a successful completion with finesse

The Wall Completed

15   So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days.

16           And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, that they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was done by our God. Neh6:15-16

2      The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

3      And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand.

4      So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority.

5      So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was on all that he had in the house and in the field.

21   But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

22   And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing.

23           The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made it prosper. Gen39:2-5,21-23

Paul’s Valedictory

6      For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.

7      I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

8              Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.2Tim4:6-8

“You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you,

19   serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews;

20   how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house,

21   testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22   And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,

23   except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me.

24   But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Acts 20:18-24

From Maniac To Minister ( by C.H. Spurgeon)

From Maniac to Minister

“He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.”
Mark 16:9

Mary of Magdala was the victim of a fearful evil. She was possessed by not one devil only, but seven. These dreadful inmates caused much pain and pollution to the poor frame in which they had found a lodging. Hers was a hopeless, horrible case. She could not help herself, neither could any human succour avail. But Jesus passed that way, and unsought, and probably even resisted by the poor demoniac, he uttered the word of power, and Mary of Magdala became a trophy of the healing power of Jesus. All the seven demons left her, left her never to return, forcibly ejected by the Lord of all. What a blessed deliverance! What a happy change! From delirium to delight, from despair to peace, from hell to heaven! Straightway she became a constant follower of Jesus, catching his every word, following his devious steps, sharing his toilsome life; and withal she became his generous helper, first among that band of healed and grateful women who ministered unto him of their substance. When Jesus was lifted up in crucifixion, Mary remained the sharer of his shame: we find her first beholding from afar, and then drawing near to the foot of the cross. She could not die on the cross with Jesus, but she stood as near it as she could, and when his blessed body was taken down, she watched to see how and where it was laid. She was the faithful and watchful believer, last at the sepulchre where Jesus slept, first at the grave whence he arose. Her holy fidelity made her a favoured beholder of her beloved Rabboni, who deigned to call her by her name, and to make her his messenger of good news to the trembling disciples and Peter. Thus grace found her a maniac and made her a minister, cast out devils and gave her to behold angels, delivered her from Satan, and united her forever to the Lord Jesus. May I also be such a miracle of grace!

Greatness Is Serving
Success is enabling
Progress is empowering
Fruitfulness is from planting.

Be this your portion
Be this your passion
Be this your determination
Be this your inclination
Be this your obsession
Be this your profession
Be this your confession.
Be this your motivation
Be this your mission
Be this your vision
Be this your action
Be it your volition
Be this your disposition.
Be this your compulsion.

Serve joyfully.
Serve cheerfully.
Serve willingly.
Serve gracefully.
Serve generously.
Serve excellently.
Serve worshipfully.
Serve acceptably.
Serve with your all your heart.
Serve with all your mind.
Serve with all your  might.

22 Bondservants , obey in all things your masters according to the flesh , not with eye service , as men-pleasers , but in sincerity of heart , fearing God.
23 And whatever you do , do it heartily , as to the Lord and not to men ,
Col 3:22-23

Bondservants and Masters  5 Bondservants , be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh , with fear and trembling , in sincerity of heart , as to Christ;
6 not with eyeservice , as men-pleasers , but as bondservants of Christ , doing the will of God from the heart ,
7 with goodwill doing service , as to the Lord , and not to men ,

The Cheerful Giver
6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly , and He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

29 Do you see a man who excels in his work?  He will stand before kings;  He will not stand before unknown men.
4 So Joseph found favor in his sight , and served him. Then He made him overseer of his house , and all that He had He put under his authority.
22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there , it was his doing.
23 The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority , because the Lord was with him; and whatever He did , the Lord made it prosper.
16 Let our master now command your servants , who are before you , to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. And it shall be that He will play it with his hand when the distressing spirit from God is upon you , and you shall be well.”
17 So Saul said to his servants , “Provide me now a man who can play well , and bring him to me.”
18 Then one of the servants answered and said , “Look , I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite , who is skillful in playing , a mighty man of valor , a man of war , prudent in speech , and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him.”

The gospel is free but it cost God the blood of His Son.

Paul spent and was spent for God.

David could not give God what was cheap.

Is there anything you cannot give to God?

Give your best to God in all you do and it will come back to you, good measure, shaken together, pressed down and running over.

23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.Col3:23

22   Now Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take and offer up whatever seems good to him. Look, here are oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing implements and the yokes of the oxen for wood.23 All these, O king, Araunah has given to the king.”

And Araunah said to the king, “May the LORD your God accept you.”

24   Then the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price; nor will I offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God with that which costs me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.25 And David built there an altar to the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD heeded the prayers for the land, and the plague was withdrawn from Israel.1Sam24:22-25

Let Love Propel You (by C .H. Spurgeon)

Let His Love Propel You

going extra mile3 excellence Going the extra mile love never gives up love is patient let love rule

“The love of Christ constraineth us.” 2 Corinthians 5:14

How much owest thou unto my Lord? Has he ever done anything for thee? Has he forgiven thy sins? Has he covered thee with a robe of righteousness? Has he set thy feet upon a rock? Has he established thy goings? Has he prepared heaven for thee? Has he prepared thee for heaven? Has he written thy name in his book of life? Has he given thee countless blessings? Has he laid up for thee a store of mercies, which eye hath not seen nor ear heard?

Then do something for Jesus worthy of his love. Give not a mere wordy offering to a dying Redeemer. How will you feel when your Master comes, if you have to confess that you did nothing for him, but kept your love shut up, like a stagnant pool, neither flowing forth to his poor or to his work. Out on such love as that! What do men think of a love which never shows itself in action?

Why, they say, “Open rebuke is better than secret love.” Who will accept a love so weak that it does not actuate you to a single deed of self-denial, of generosity, of heroism, or zeal! Think how he has loved you, and given himself for you! Do you know the power of that love? Then let it be like a rushing mighty wind to your soul to sweep out the clouds of your worldliness, and clear away the mists of sin. “For Christ’s sake” be this the tongue of fire that shall sit upon you: “for Christ’s sake” be this the divine rapture, the heavenly afflatus to bear you aloft from earth, the divine spirit that shall make you bold as lions and swift as eagles in your Lord’s service.

Love should give wings to the feet of service, and strength to the arms of labour. Fixed on God with a constancy that is not to be shaken, resolute to honour him with a determination that is not to be turned aside, and pressing on with an ardour never to be wearied, let us manifest the constraints of love to Jesus. May the divine loadstone draw us heavenward towards itself.

The Road to True Greatness
Begins with Jesus
Taking rightful place
Communing with Him
Hearing His voice
Doing His will
Driven by purpose
Paying the price
To get the prize

The Road to greatness:
Fraught with challenges
Obstacles and uncertainties
Valley and mountains
Bears and lions
Goliaths and giants
Opposition and trials
Persecution and tribulation

But you forge on
As a champion
In the Name of the Son
Using the powerful word
Standing on the promises
Praying the promises
Taking steps of faith
Spending and being spent
Pushing and pressing
Till something happens
You dream big dreams
See beyond the seen
See through God’s eyes
Refusing to limit Him
Till your purpose is done.

What to Do with Unused Ability ( By Rick Warren)

What to Do with Unused Ability

by Rick Warren

“When the master comes and finds the servant doing his work, the servant will be blessed.” (Luke 12:43 NCV)

All of us have unused abilities. But there are three ways that you can start cultivating your abilities so that they are being used for good and God’s glory.

1. Estimate your abilities.

You need to do an assessment of your life. Do an audit of your abilities. What are you good at? Make a list. If there’s one thing I could say to young people today to prepare for their future, this is it: Know your strengths. Know your weaknesses. Estimate your capabilities by the light of faith God has given you.

Parents, help your kids understand their SHAPE — their spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences. Your children have far more abilities than they think.

2. Dedicate your abilities.

Commit them to God for the use he intended. Romans 12:1 says, “Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him” (GN). Say, “God, you gave me these abilities. Now I’m going to give them back to you. I want to use them for the purpose for which you gave them to me.”

3. Cultivate your abilities.

That means practice, improve, sharpen, and develop. Any ability that God has given you can be increased with use. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 10:10, “If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success” (NIV).

How do you get skill? Practice. God says you need to sharpen your ax. A dull ax takes more energy. He says work smarter, not harder. Sharpening your abilities — your aptitudes, your skills — is a spiritual responsibility.

God has made an enormous investment in you. First, he created you. Second, he shaped you with spiritual gifts and personality. Then he sent Jesus to die for you. God has made an incredible investment in your life! And he expects a return on the investment. He’s going to ask you one day, “What did you do with what you were given? Did you use your abilities to honor me, to serve others, to make a living, and to be an example? Did you use them to help other people? Did you use them to help the Church? Did you use them to make money to give away? What did you do with what you were given?”

In Luke 12:43, Jesus said, “When the master comes and finds the servant doing his work, the servant will be blessed” (NCV). I want you to have that blessing.

When that time comes in your life, I don’t want God to find you lounging around, wasting your talent. I want him to find you using your abilities in the ways that God intended.

Take time to thank God right now. Thank him for the abilities he’s given you. Say, “God I don’t even know all the abilities I’ve got, but I thank you for them. Help me to discover them. Today I dedicate them back to you. I want to use what you’ve given me for your purposes. I want to cultivate my abilities. I want to get better at what I’m doing. I want to honor you by being the best I can be. I want to use my abilities to honor you, to serve others, to make a living, and to be an example. I want to use my abilities to have money to share with those who are poor and to help my church grow and reach out. Help me to make it so. I pray this in your name. Amen.”

Working in the Kingdom

Word for Today ( Bob Gas)

‘…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.’ MARK 10:43

Disneyland is referred to as ‘the Magic Kingdom.’ For those who work there, one value is emphasised above all others. It’s what puts the ‘magic’ into that kingdom. What is it? Servanthood! Employees are told that when you walk through those gates, you serve. You treat every encounter with people as if they were your personal guest. If they need directions, you escort them. If they ask a question you’ve heard a hundred times, you answer it as if you’d never heard it before. There’s a ride called the Jungle Cruise, and the most common question asked about it is, ‘How long is this ride?’ So the staff is given a prepared, standard answer: ‘The Jungle Cruise is an exciting adventure ride that lasts ten minutes.’ But one employee had been asked it once too often, so when a couple asked, ‘How long is the Jungle Cruise?’ he said, ‘Three days.’ The couple got out of the line, left the park, went back to Disney Hotel where they were on their honeymoon, packed up their suitcases, checked out, and came back to the line at the Jungle Cruise. The next day the Disneyland employee was gone, and someone else was standing at the line saying, ‘The Jungle Cruise is an exciting adventure ride that lasts ten minutes.’ When you represent God’s kingdom you’re supposed to go out of your way to facilitate people, love them and meet their needs. Why

Intimacy is Gold

Intimacy is Gold

Relationship with God

Cherished above all things

Surpassing everything.

Let it be your delight

And you will have His light

Let it be your first love

And you will be above.

New Birth is the first rung

Of a ladder that’s long.

You must desire to grow;

Increase, rise, soar and glow.

Like Enoch walked with God

You too must walk with God

Walk worthy of His call

Walk consistently like Paul.

Desire to know Him more

And He’ll open the door

To treasury you know not yet

And you’ll zoom like jet.

Let it be your one desire,

Then you’ll rise out of mire,

Into the place for you;

Specially meant for you.

Cry, ”That I may know Him!”

Yell, ”That I may love Him!”

More than all else I know.

May we together  flow

Hand in hand like lovers

Communing under cover

Meeting long before dawn

Much long before the sun.

Intimacy with God is gold

Go for it and be bold.

Grow in it day by day.

Be this, O Lord, I pray!

w in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.Mark1:35

1     As the 35 Nodeer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.

2     My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?Ps42:1-2

4     One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.

5     For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.Ps27:4-5
