 The word Works

When you stand on it

When you pray it

And pray with it

When you pop it as pill

When you rub it in like balm.

The word heals

Because it is spirit and life

Because it is God-breathed

Because it is powerful

And dynamic, razor-sharp

Living, seasoned and it’s God’s mind.

The word works

When you refuse to relent

When you hold on to it

Like a bulldog that has found a bone.

The word is medicine for health;

The word is wisdom in business;

The word is blue print for prosperity;

The word is for soundness of mind;

The word works for peace profound;

The word works for divine direction;

The word is for creativity

The word is for healthy relationships

The word is for finding purpose

Facing and fulfilling purpose.

The word works always and everywhere;

on the mountain in the valley.

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.Heb4:12

63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.John6:63

“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

Matt4:4

7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. John15:7

32.”So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified Act20:32

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Col3:16

12     I have not departed from the commandment of His lips;

      I have treasured the words of His mouth

              More than my necessary food. Job23:12

20     My son, give attention to my words;

      Incline your ear to my sayings.

21     Do not let them depart from your eyes;

      Keep them in the midst of your heart;

22     For they are life to those who find them,

      And health to all their flesh.

 Prov4:20-22

6     “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Deut6:6-9

Why it has been published

God has  given me the opportunity to make a contribution to the Body of Christ. It is a great privilege. When you think of the millions of songs composed over the centuries in Christendom, you would wonder if we need more songs. But God always gives us fresh manna regardless of what has been before. If we are open to Him, He will give us New Mercies, New Songs to sing to the King. A few of theses compositions over the years are set forth here. Some of them have been recorded and on CDs, some others have been recorded at home.

This book is a rich resource-base for songwriters, instrumentalist looking for fresh material, worship leaders, preachers and teachers and Christians in general and for devotional purposes.

Some of the songs have been tested in churches and small group settings with huge success. Some of the songs have also been recorded and distributed.

My intended reader is the Christian who wants to grow in Christ regardless of their past achievements or failures, pastors and teachers who have a spirit of excellence and scholarship and want a handy poetic and biblical resource on varied song-themes- any one who wants a fitting song for a special occasion; also Christian singers and rappers who want a good word-based lyric for recording or for use on outreach.

Christian for 30 years and burning with a vision to inspire you through poetry, song and dance to fulfil vision; composed over 300 songs and poems and plays the guitar and harmonica. Some of the songs have been used in Church and small group settings in a worship leading or assisting roles and concert settings and have been well-received. Some of the poems have audio versions designed to add a cutting edge to them.

Published six albums of songs and poems. Some of the songs and poems are also published on my website:inspiration4generations.com

Over the years since being a Christian, I have undertaken various formal and in-house Bible courses, one of which led to the award of a Diploma in Christian Ministry. I have also personally developed my prose, song-writing and poetry skills and use the Bible as my key resource in my writings. The works of C.H. Spurgeon, Matthews Henry and John Bunyan have had a profound influence on writing.

With regards to songwriting, Graham Kendrick, Ian Whyte and Don Francisco, have been very influential. Ian Whyte introduced me into setting the Psalms to music.

Want to Know God’s Promises? Read the Bible! ( By Rick Warren)

“I commit you to God and to the Word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” (Acts 20:32 NIV)

You have an inheritance coming to you. If you read God’s Word, the Bible promises one for you.

The Bible says in Acts 20:32, “I commit you to God and to the Word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”

An inheritance is what you get for being part of a family that’s rightfully yours.

Pretend your father was Warren Buffet, and he dies. If you never took the time to read the will, you’d be foolish. You wouldn’t get what was rightfully due to you. You wouldn’t benefit from what belongs to you as a child of Warren Buffet.

When you become a follower of Jesus, you’re not just a believer — you’re a belonger. You become a part of God’s family. Family privileges come along with that decision. You have a spiritual inheritance.

But if you walked through your entire life and you didn’t know what benefits were available to you as a child of God, that would be sad — and foolish. God wants you to grow and know what’s available to you from him. You need to read the Bible to do that.

The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

The purpose of the Bible is to help you live out the purpose God has for your life; it’s God’s inheritance that’s due to you. God wants you to be thoroughly equipped for what you’ve been made to do. To do that, he does four things through Scripture:

– He teaches you. God shows you the path on which you should walk.

– He rebukes you. God shows you when you’re off the path.

– He corrects you. God shows us how you can get back on the path.

– He trains you. God shows you how you can stay on the path.

That’s how God’s Word helps you grow and get that great inheritance God has prepared for you.

Talk About It

How would your life change if it reflected the truth that you have an inheritance from the King of Kings?

– What benefits from your inheritance have you not yet accepted?

– Is the Bible a useful tool for you each day? Are you taking full advantage of its instruction?

Keep God’s Word Close at Hand (by Rick Warren)

“He should keep it with him all the time and read from it every day of his life.” (Deuteronomy 17:19a NCV)

For most of the 2,000-year history of the Church, only priests got to personally read the Bible, but now billions of us have access to it. In spite of this, many believers are more faithful to reading their daily newspaper than their Bibles.

It’s no wonder why we don’t grow. We can’t watch television for three hours, then read the Bible for three minutes and expect to grow.

Many who claim to believe the Bible “from cover to cover” have never read it from cover to cover. But if you will read the Bible just fifteen minutes a day, you will read completely through it once a year.

If you cut out one 30-minute television program a day and read your Bible instead, you will read through the entire Bible twice a year.

Daily Bible reading will keep you in range of God’s voice. This is why God instructed the kings of Israel to always keep a copy of his Word nearby: “He should keep it with him all the time and read from it every day of his life” (Deuteronomy 17:19a NCV).

But don’t just keep it near you; read it regularly! A simple tool that is helpful for this is a daily Bible reading plan. It will prevent you from just skipping around the Bible arbitrarily and overlooking sections.

Talk About It

With what projects or hobbies do you show great discipline in your attention to them? How can you apply that same discipline to your daily Bible reading?

– How do you think 15 minutes a day in God’s Word would change the way you approach your everyday life?

Find the Book

In a Sunday school some children were told to find scrolls hidden away with scriptures written on them. They were promised some goodies and off they went with excitement and anticipation, enthusiasm, wanting to outdo each other. They were moving chairs and tables, climbing ‘mountains’, descending ‘valleys’ and poring purses.

The congregation was set alight with joy and affirmation which renewed and underlined  the importance of the Word of God

In many homes, the Bible is hidden away on shelves whilst there are places in the world where Bibles are a rarity -a treasure to be hunted and treasured.

You really don’t know what you have until you lose it.  And if you don’t use it, you’ve lost it.

May we find the word of God and the voice of God for our lives today and always.
