Leverage with your strengths

Know what matters to God (purpose)

Do You want to live your best life here?

Then take “MILK” with you. It is your veritable tool box with ‘must-haves’ for a successful sojourn through the terrains of this life.

 Maximize the Moment (M)

The first tool you need in this box is “M“.

Life is no a dress rehearsal. It is for real.

God has given you an opportunity to live this life, so give it your best shot. Creation is eagerly waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. (Rom.8:19)

Jesus said “You are the light of this world. A city on a hill that cannot be hidden.” So wherever you go shine, illuminate the darkness you are bound to come across. Make a difference. Make a positive impact that is indelible; an impact that cannot be ignored. He said you are the salt of the earth. This means be a flavour-giving agent in your environment, your society, your nation, your work place, your industry, all your spheres of influence. Opportunities will come your way from time to time to rise above and let your light so shine that men might see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Do not shirk or waste such moments. ( Matt 5:13-16)

The next tool you need in this “box” is ‘I’

Ignore Negative People

Life is full of Naysayers- people who will always focus on the negatives. These are armchair critics. They never see the good thing about what you do. They rush to judgement and are quick to point out your faults.

Rather than being down-hearted by their fault finding, use them to rise, improve, excel; know that they are the unpaid guardians of your soul. They may mean evil by what they say or do but God intends to use it for your good. So don’t fight with them. Pray for them and thank God for using them to lift you to a higher dimension. Bless them whenever you have the opportunity.

Keep your eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. Do whatever you do as unto Him. Give Him your best. Excel in what you do and you will be head-hunted and stand before Kings and not mere men.

8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these thing. Phil 4:8

The Message

8-9 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

Leverage with Your Strengths

We are all wired differently by our Maker. In His divine wisdom He gave us different gifts so that we can complement others. So do you know your gifts? If you don’t, find them out because no one is without gifts. You have a role to play, like the different parts of the body. When you have discovered your gift, fan it or fan them ablaze; develop them. No gift comes fully developed. Invest in yourself. Hone yourself. Work on your gift to give it full flame. Let it blossom and bloom.

And amongst your gifts, find out the dominant gifts and maximise them. Use them as your leverage in your relationships. Deploy your best gifts to bless others. Remember that your gifts are not yours to keep or hoard. Use it or them to bless others. We are blessed to be a blessing. It is true that not everyone will accept your gift. Let that not bother you. Remember, Jesus came to His own but they did not receive Him. So you are in good company. He still died for all humanity.

Just continue to be a blessing and your blessing will not cease.

Luke 6:38

Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

38 Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour [a]into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag]. For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you

Give away your life; you’ll find life given back, but not merely given back—given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity.”

Luke 6:38 MSG

The last essential tool in to your tool box is “K”

Know What Matters To God.

To live your best life here, you need to know what matters to God and pursue it whole-heartedly and passionately. God is the final Arbiter, our Judge and our Advocate. We are here to glorify Him. We are here to live a life that pleases Him. This is why we need to find out what pleases Him and do it.

Jesus said, “I always do what My Father does.” That is the Way to live. Live for the Master. Make sure you are fulfilling your purpose on earth. Not everyone is assigned to your world or your “boat”. He wants you to reach all those in your sphere of influence and impact their lives positively. Leave an aroma, a fragrance of God that they cherish long after you are gone.

So whatever you do, don’t forget your ‘milk”. Wherever you go, go with your “milk”. They will hold you in good stead. You will stand out with them. You will deliver with them. You will be fulfilled with them.

The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.” John 8:29

My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. John4:34

Paul gave this valedictory message before his departure:

6 For I am already about to be sacrificed [my life is about to be poured out as a drink offering]; the time of my [spirit’s] release [from the body] is at hand and I will soon go free.

7 I have fought the good (worthy, honorable, and noble) fight, I have finished the race, I have kept (firmly held) the faith.

8 [As to what remains] henceforth there is laid up for me the [victor’s] crown of righteousness [for being right with God and doing right], which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me and recompense me on that [great] day—and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved and yearned for and welcomed His appearing (His return).

2 Timothy 4:6-8

The Message

6-8 You take over. I’m about to die, my life an offering on God’s altar. This is the only race worth running. I’ve run hard right to the finish, believed all the way. All that’s left now is the shouting—God’s applause! Depend on it, he’s an honest judge. He’ll do right not only by me, but by everyone eager for his coming.

16   Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Speak it Positively, Sing of it Gratefully, Shout it Triumphantly

C.H Spurgeon

Lamentations 3:58
0 Lord, Thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul.

Observe how positively the prophet speaks. He doth not say, “I hope, I trust, I sometimes think, that God hath pleaded the causes of my soul”; but he speaks of it as a matter of fact not to be disputed. “Thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul.” Let us, by the aid of the gracious Comforter, shake off those doubts and fears which so much mar our peace and comfort. Be this our prayer, that we may have done with the harsh croaking voice of surmise and suspicion, and may be able to speak with the clear, melodious voice of full assurance. Notice how gratefully the prophet speaks, ascribing all the glory to God alone! You perceive there is not a word concerning himself or his own pleadings. He doth not ascribe his deliverance in any measure to any man, much less to his own merit; but it is “thou”-“O Lord, Thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; Thou hast redeemed my life.” A grateful spirit should ever be cultivated by the Christian; and especially after deliverances we should prepare a song for our God. Earth should be a temple filled with the songs of grateful saints, and every day should be a censor smoking with the sweet incense of thanksgiving. How joyful Jeremiah seems to be while he records the Lord’s mercy. How triumphantly he lifts up the strain! He has been in the low dungeon, and is even now no other than the weeping prophet; and yet in the very book which is called “Lamentations,” clear as the song of Miriam when she dashed her fingers against the tabor, shrill as the note of Deborah when she met Barak with shouts of victory, we hear the voice of Jeremy going up to heaven-“Thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.” O children of God, seek after a vital experience of the Lord’s lovingkindness, and when you have it, speak positively of it; sing gratefully; shout triumphantly.
