The Wall Completed

15   So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days.

16           And it happened, when all our enemies heard of it, and all the nations around us saw these things, that they were very disheartened in their own eyes; for they perceived that this work was done by our God. Neh6:15-16

2      The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

3      And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand.

4      So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority.

5      So it was, from the time that he had made him overseer of his house and all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was on all that he had in the house and in the field.

21   But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

22   And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing.

23           The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made it prosper. Gen39:2-5,21-23

Paul’s Valedictory

6      For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.

7      I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

8              Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.2Tim4:6-8

“You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you,

19   serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews;

20   how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house,

21   testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22   And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,

23   except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me.

24   But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Acts 20:18-24

Promises to Abram

1 Now the Lord had said to Abram;  “Get out of your country , From your family  And from your father’s house , To a land that I will show you. 4 So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him , and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when He departed from Haran. Gen12:1,4

16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz , and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel.

20 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out , Jehoshaphat stood and said , “Hear me , O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God , and you shall be established; believe His prophets , and you shall prosper.” 2Chro20:16,20

Jealous For You with Great Jealousy

Jealous For You with Great Jealousy

Charles H. Spurgeon

“O Lord of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy upon Jerusalem? … And the Lord answered the angel … with good words and comfortable words.”Zechariah 1:12,13

What a sweet answer to an anxious enquiry! This night let us rejoice in it. O Zion, there are good things in store for thee; thy time of travail shall soon be over; thy children shall be brought forth; thy captivity shall end. Bear patiently the rod for a season, and under the darkness still trust in God, for his love burneth towards thee. God loves the church with a love too deep for human imagination: he loves her with all his infinite heart. Therefore let her sons be of good courage; she cannot be far from prosperity to whom God speaketh“good words and comfortable words.

”What these comfortable words are the prophet goes on to tell us: “I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.” The Lord loves his church so much that he cannot bear that she should go astray to others; and when she has done so, he cannot endure that she should suffer too much or too heavily. He will not have his enemies afflict her: he is displeased with them because they increase her misery.

When God seems most to leave his church, his heart is warm towards her. History shows that whenever God uses a rod to chasten his servants, he always breaks it afterwards, as if he loathed the rod which gave his children pain. “Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.” God hath not forgotten us because he smites — his blows are no evidences of want of love.

If this is true of his church collectively, it is of necessity true also of each individual member. You may fear that the Lord has passed you by, but it is not so: he who counts the stars, and calls them by their names, is in no danger of forgetting his own children. He knows your case as thoroughly as if you were the only creature he ever made, or the only saint he ever loved. Approach him and be at peace.

The God of Wood

The god of wood

Or god of gold

They’re one and same

They’re a shame.

They’re millstones

Cause you to drown;

Stumbling blocks

To the Rock;

Deceive, ensnare

Destroy, are tares,

They blind the eyes,

Cause you to die.

Powerful Pictorial Lessons of the Passover

The bread used in the Passover is made of wheat.

The grain has to fall down and die to produce fruit.

Jesus had to die for us and was raised to justify us and to bring forth much fruit: those who have made Him Lord and Saviour.

We too need to humble ourselves and die to ourselves before we can be raised into a newness of life. (John12:24, Rom10:9-10)

Just as the shoot that comes out of the grain is different so we  have a glorified body when we are raised up when Jesus comes.

It is usually One Bread that is broken for a Passover gathering.

Jesus- the Bread of Life- was broken for us (John1:35)

He is the Head and we are the Body ( Rom12:5, 1Cor12:12)

There is one body-the Church- worldwide- universal. ( Ps133:1)

Commitment to the unity of the Church is essential for membership of the Church.(Eph4:3-6,13,

Being part of the Body of Christ also speaks of the need to commitment to the unity of the body.

It is the Holy Spirit Who baptises us into the Body of Christ, so we need to recognise Him to be all that God wants us to be. The Holy Spirit is the giver of the gifts of Power (Faith, Healing, Working of Miracles), Gifts of Utterance (Prophecy, Tongue sand Interpretation of tongues), Revelatory gifts (Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge and Discernment of Spirit). 1Cor12:4-8

The Holy Spirit also gives the ministry gifts – ( offices to the Church-

Evangelists and

and others besides ( administration, inspiration, generosity etc, Eph4:8-10

The Holy Spirit is the Teacher, Strengthener, Comforter, Standby, Guide, Advocate, Intercessor ( John16:7-8,13,14)

Just the Bread was broken, Jesus Christ’s body was broken to make us whole. He took our pain and sicknesses.  By His stripes we were healed. Isa53:4-6)

Therefore we can expect healing as we rightly discern the Body of Christ.

The grain of wheat is made up or the bran, endosperm and the germ.

These are essential components to make healthy bread.

Similarly the Body of Christ is ONE body made up of different parts- people with complementary gifts, to work together in harmony to give fullness till we grow up to the fullness of the stature of the manhood in Christ. Eph4:3-6,13)

Therefore as the Body of Christ, we need each other to make a sumptuous sup.

We have a common destiny. Jesus is not coming for individuals but for the Church.

Hence we must recognise the role of the Church in our walk with Christ. We belong to the Body and not lone-rangers. (1Cor12:12)

The bread used for the Passover is unleavened bread. Leaven is yeast which makes bread rise. This is symbolic of sin.  Jesus took away the yeast (sin) Partakers of the bread have to confess their sins and be cleansed to partake of this Bread of life. This is why we should not take the communion lightly.

As we take the bread with reverence, God will open our eyes like He opened the eyes of those two men who were on their way to Emmaus. Jesus unfolded the scriptures – over 2000 as he accompanied them and their heart were burning and griped in awe, yet not knowing that He was the one in their midst. However as they sat and He broke the bread, their eyes were opened and they knew: ‘It is Jesus!’

 Let us Pray

Lord, may we realise that without you we will remain in our sin, without hope.

May we bow the knee at the cross to be made right with You.

Help us to recognise the Body of Christ ad play our part in maintaining its unity, contribute to its wholeness, advancement and the extension of Your Kingdom.

O that we will have zest as salt of the earth to make our lives tasty to your glory.

in Jesus’ Name Amen.

Exodus 12

8 Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

Luke 22

1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called Passover.

  Institution of the Lord’s Supper

23   For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;

24   and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

25   In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

26   For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

Examine Yourself

27   Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28   But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

29   For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

30   For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.

31   For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.1Cor11:

A Glorious Body

35   But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?”

36   Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies.

37   And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain — perhaps wheat or some other grain.

38   But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.

39   All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds.

40   There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

41   There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.

42   So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.

43   It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.

44   It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

Marriage — Christ and the Church

22   Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

23   For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.

24   Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

25   Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

26   that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,

27   that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

28   So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

29   For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.

30   For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

31   “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

32   This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

31Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.

Remember Lot’s Wife

Remember Lot’s wife

With passion loved life

Coveted much goods

Too bad for her good.

Lured by so much gold

Ignored what was told

Stubbornly looked back

And turn to salt stack.

So mind that magnet

Be it on the net

Let it not engulf

Rip and create a gulf.

5     When the morning dawned, the angels urgedLot to hurry, saying, “Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city.”

16   And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city.

17                     So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you

25   So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.

26   But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. Gen19
