The Day of Laughter Comes… ( by Fenny West)

The Day of Laughter

The Day of laughter

Comes to those who trust God;

those who hold on to His Word

They may laugh last but they laugh best

Suddenly, their table is turned for the better

Suddenly the testimony comes after the test.

The Day of laughter

Comes to those who have been written off; past their sell-by date;

Those told by the doctor: ‘Go home. No hope.’

Go and prepare yourself for death.’

Suddenly, there is a reprieve, remission, retreat,

Resurgence, revival, and resurrection.

Just like it happened to Hezekiah when God gave him15 more years

2Ki20:6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.'”

Just like it happened to Zachariah when John the Baptist was born.

‘Elisabeth’s son was born. Her friends and family were happy. They thought that the baby should have the same name as his father, Zacharias. But Elisabeth

said that his name should be John. Everyone was surprised.’

Just like it happened to Hannah when her anguish turned into joy at the birth of Samuel.

Rebekah in joy – double for her trouble

Rachel’s Joy when Joseph was born

Jacob’s Joy and laughter when he suddenly heard that Joseph was still alive and a PM

Just like it happened to Joseph When he went from prison to the palace;

From prisoner to Prime Minister within 24 hours;

Esau kissed Jacob

Just like Jacob who was expecting the worst from his cheated brother ( Esau) but rather received a kiss and pardon.

Just like it happened to Job When his fortune was restored

Just like it happened to Mephibosheth, who was summoned to the palace from his dark, dingy hideout

To the king’s palace where he ate on the king’s table as his sons.

Just like it happened to Abraham and Sarah whom God gave laughter- Isaac- in their old age.

Just like it happened to Israel- the day they left Egypt, plundering the Egyptians and finding freedom after over 400 years of captivity.

Just like Jabez, who had been dogged with repeated calamity was suddenly greeted with favour, prosperity, protection and an enlarged coast.

Like Job who had lost everything, going from riches to rags, receiving restoration that was superabundant and mind-blowing.

Just like the day Lazarus was raised back to life- the disaster turned into laughter.

The Day Jesus was born

like the day Jesus was raised back to life, there was great joy in Jerusalem and the world over, even in heaven.

Just like the day there was a sudden revival and a collapsed economy and starving people bounced back and prices fell to ridiculous levels and there was plenty to eat. End of famine in the Land.

Just like the day the decree was signed giving the Jews freedom from those who wanted them exterminated. The day of laughter came to Israel when the state was created after many years of statelessness.

Yes, this day of laughter does come to those who keep their eyes on Jesus, regardless of the dark times they pass through. Yea though they walk through the valley of the shadow of death, they need not fear any evil because the Lord is with them. And if God be for them who can be against them?

He is working everything together for their good.

Captivity led captive

Psalms 126: A Joyful Return to Zion A Song of Ascents.
1 When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, ” The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things for us, And we are glad.
4 Bring back our captivity, O LORD, As the streams in the South.
5 Those who sow in tears Shall reap in joy.
6 He who continually goes forth weeping, Bearing seed for sowing, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, Bringing his sheaves with him.

Beautiful Fruitful Bow (by Fenny West)

Beautiful Fruitful Bow

Joseph was a beautiful fruitful bow, born after barrenness that visited Rachel for a long time. She who was barren sang when Joseph was born. His Father,  Jacob was elated. At last the woman he loved had given him a child, even though at his old age. Jacob celebrated his son with a coat of many colours. This brought jealousy and disdain and persecution from his brothers. Joseph suffered greatly but all his trials and tribulations were a stepping stone to a higher ground. Those archers who shot at him propelled him into his destiny. Joseph trusted in his God and displayed, purity, integrity, excellence, industry that set him apart from other. This fruitful bow prevailed over the archers flaming arrows and became a Prime Minister in a foreign land. Favour followed him wherever he went because of the mighty God of Jacob, his God. As you trust in this same God, regardless of the arrows that are shot at you, you too will prevail and fulfil your vision.

Fruitful Colourful Bow

joseph's coat 3

‘Fruitful bow by the well’

Drank living water from heaven

Enriched, endowed, flourishing

Called to be a breadbasket

Targeted by the archers

They shot their arrows

And never missed the bull’s eye

Nearly buried him alive.

Despite the great dream

A source of contention

Opposition and persecution

Cause: Coat of contention

and coming future dominion.

Traded like a chattel

But God’s presence

Made mammoth difference

Anointing oozing, profuse

Favour found him

And elevated him

 joseph pit test

Yet another dart was thrown

Challenging his purity

Confronting his integrity

Culminating in imprisonment

Conjuring great bafflement

Why evil attending the good?

Until it was revealed, understood.

Dream disdained, denounced

Dream received and revealed

Dream promotes purpose

Dawning of a New Day as he rose.

joseph pit test 3

24   But his bow remained in strength, And the arms of his hands were made strong By the hands of the Mighty God of Jacob (From there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel),

25   By the God of your father who will help you, And by the Almighty who will bless you With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.

26   The blessings of your father Have excelled the blessings of my ancestors, Up to the utmost bound of the everlasting hills. They shall be on the head of Joseph, And on the crown of the head of him who was separate from his brothers.

Gen49:24-26
