Easter Drama Script(2) (by Fenny West)

Act1 scene 1
Public Proclamation of His Purpose
Knowing that He would commence His ministry soon, Jesus fasted for forty days and night, led of the Holy Spirit into the wilderness and tempted of the devil.
He triumphed over him three times in a dwell over His flesh, ego and worship.
Then He went into the temple, took the scroll and turned to the prophecy about His ministry and read it: Isa 61: 1-3
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,”
All eyes were fixed on Him. Some wondered what it meant; others knew He was fulfilling the Scriptures.

Song: The Spirit of the Lord

Soon He chose His disciples:
Mark 3
The Twelve Apostles

13 And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. 14 Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, 15 and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons: 16 Simon, to whom He gave the name Peter; 17 James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom He gave the name Boanerges, that is, “Sons of Thunder”; 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananite; 19 and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. And they went into a house.

Act2  Public Ministry Commenced in earnest.
He preached the gospel in various places with signs and wonders accompanying the Word, healing the sick, giving sight to the blind; the lame walked, deaf heard and the dumb spoke, demons were cast out and even the dead were raised. He taught with overwhelming authority as no one had done before as the wisdom of God oozed out of His lips. He fed over 5,000 with two fish and five loaves and there were twelve baskets of fragments left over. He was simply astounding and captivating and never afraid to be controversial. The religious people were all against Him as their cages were rattled.
He did this for three years.
He knew that apart from this, there was the ultimate price which He came to pay, however horrific and uninviting as it may be. For this purpose He was born- to die for humanity, to clinch back the dominion the first Adam lost to Satan.
ACTS 3
The time had come.
So He called His disciples and began to demonstrate what was going to happen in Jerusalem.  He graphically described how He was going to be arrested, falsely accused, beaten, battered bruised and bastardised.
“I will be going to Jerusalem soon and there, I will be arrested, falsely accused and brutalized, scourged, vilified and even crucified. You will all desert Me. I would be marred beyond recognition.”

Peter could not handle it.
“What are you doing , Master? Why are you talking negatively? Have we left our lucrative businesses to join a sinking ship?
No! It shall not happen to You! On my dead body. Even if all others forsake you, just count me out.”

Jesus( Turning round and looking at the other disciples and knowing that the devil was speaking through Peter, He said:
Get thee behind me Satan! You are not mindful of the things of God. You are carnally-minded.
Don’t you know that for this purpose I came into this world? Did you not hear, ‘ Behold, the Lamb that takes away their sin of the world? How could a lamb take away sin without dying?
Peter (horrified)
“Look, He’s calling me satan- His right hand man has now turned to Satan.”

Not long after, Jesus had his Last Supper with the 12, Judas is identified as the dark horse and he departed to do his dastardly deed- selling his Master.

ACTS 4 Garden of Gethsemane Intercession
Scene1
Jesus takes His three hence men to the Garden of Gethsemane, where He prays  agonizingly over the imminent suffering and separation from His Father because of the sin of the whole world that would be heaped on Him.
“Father, if it be possible,  let this cup pass from Me. Nevertheless, not my will but Your will be done.”
He prayed this three times and within that hour, sweat coming out of Him were like blood.
Scene 2
Soon Judas arrives with a pack of mobs Armed to do damage. He led them there to capture His Master after being bribed. There Peter wanted to defend his Master, cutting of the ear of one of the gangsters..
Jesus rebuked him and healed the man who was  hurt.

Act 5 Interrogation of Jesus and Judgement and Condemnation
Jesus Before Pontius Pilate and other religious leaders and He is interrogated:.
Are You the king of the Jews?

The crowd are baying for his blood.
He claimed to be the Son of God and should be crucified for blasphemy.

It was a time to release one prisoner,  so Pontius Pilate asked them whom to release,  Jesus or someone else?
They opted for Barabbas.
What do you want me to do with Jesus?

Crowd: Crucify Him, crucify Him!
Pontius Pilate: But this man is innocent . I find no fault with Him.

Crowd: Crucify Him! Crucify Him!

Pilate: ” I will have to wash my hands off His blood.”

Crowd: “Let His blood fall upon us!”
Act6 On the Road To Golgotha
Jesus is brutalized, scourged, bleeding and battered beyond recognition-badly disfigured and given a cross to carry along the road to Golgotha

Carrying the heavy cross and in great anguish and pain, He collapsed many times along the way and at one point could not move. At this point, a man, Simon of Cyrene was commandeered to carry the cross for Him.

Via Dolorosa means “ the Way of Sorrow” or “ The Way of Suffering”

Act 7 At Golgotha: Seven Salient Sayings…
At Golgotha He was crucified between two thieves as was prophesied.
7 is the number for perfection.  This is the 7th Act of this work and there are seven Salient Sayings Considered and seven songs composed that are used here.

1 . “Father, forgive them. For they know not what the do.”
He prayed for all of them and for us whose sins put Him on the cross.

2.” Mother, behold your son. Son, behold your mother.”
He was caring for his mother who was there till the end   putting her in the loving care of one of His closest disciples.
3 “Today, you will be with me in paradise.”
(One of the thieves crucified alongside Him badmouthed Him:” He saved others but cannot save Himself. If You are the Son of God, save yourself and deliver us.
There other thief was wise and discerning.,” Don’t you fear God? This man is innocent.  He is a righteous man. We deserve what we are getting.
“Lord, remember me when you come into Your kingdom.”)
This indicates that anyone can be saved, whenever, if they are truly repentant.
4. “I thirst!”
His humanity was clearly evident.
5. It is finished! Tel telesti
6. “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me”
Unbeknown to onlookers, the sin of the whole world was helped on Jesus. God could not behold sin so there was a separation between Father and Son.

Song 1 My God, My God

7. Father, into Your hands I commend My Spirit.
Jesus gave up the ghost.  He died.
He was buried in the tomb of a rich man in fulfilment of prophecy.
The religious men posted a guard at the burial ground to prevent His body disappearing.
There were spectacular signs and tremors.  The curtain in the temple that separated the Holy place from the Holy of Holies, was torn from top to bottom. This was symbolic that the way to God was now open to all. Jesus was now the High priest for all and no longer a human intermediary.
The rocks cracked open and dead people came alive and were seen by their loved ones.
Jesus descended to hell where He disarmed principalities and powers and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them through the cross. He took back the keys the first Adam gave to Satan
He also released the Old Testament saints held in paradise: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses,  David…
Resurrection
Psalm 24 was fulfilled…
Lift up your heads, O you gates and let the King of glory come in.
Who is the King of glory?
The Lord, high and mighty. Mighty in battle.

He showed Himself to Mary Magdalena,  the two men on their way to Emmaus and the disciples hiding behind closed doors later.
Song2 :He’s Alive

Look not for the Living among the dead.
The Son of God is risen, just like He said.
He’s alive. He is risen.
The grave could not hold the Son of God. The cross could not stop the Son of God

Christ is alive! He’s risen!
Christ is alive, alive forevermore.
Death could not hold the King, the King of kings.
Christ is alive, He’s risen.

Behold, He that was dead, us alive forever.
Jesus Christ of Nazareth,  rose up triumphant, truly the Kind of glory.
Lift up your heads, o you gates. Be lifted up and let the king of glory come in.
Who is the King of glory?
The Lord, high and mighty. He is the the King of glory.
I am He that was dead and now alive for ever and I hold the keys of death and hades

Song3 : Rise Up! ( Green screen)

Why? Because I died and rose again.”

Rise up from the valley onto the mountain of God.
Rise up from the valley of Bacca and make it a spring of God.

I say go from glory to glory.  Go from strength to strength.  Go in the Name of the Lord.

Song 4  He Rose Up!

Jesus Christ the Son God,
He rose up, He rose up!
Principalities and powers could not hold Him.
He rose up. He rose up.

If you believe in the Son of God, you’ll rise up. You’ll rise up. The storm cannot keep you, the grave cannot stop you.
You’ll rise up. You’ll rise up.

Song 8. I Have A Miracle Working God’

I have a miracle working God
I have a miracle working God
He is the Alpha and Omega
I have a miracle working God

Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today and forever.
He’s the Alpha and Omega
I have a miracle working God

With two fish and fives loaves,  five thousand fed
He rose again from the dead
He is Alpha and Omega
I have a miracle working God.

He walked upon the sea
Make the blind to see
He is the Alpha and Omega
I have a miracle working God

He made the lame to walk
.and made the dumb to talk
He is the Alpha and Omega
I have a miracle working God.

Exhortation He’s Alive!
He is the Resurrection and the life.
He went the distance for you and I. Therefore there is no hopeless situation.  No matter the valleys you come to, you can come through them but you are coming out of them because He’s Alive.
Death could not hold Him. And what He did, He did for you
O Grave, where is your victory.
Death where is your sting.
He swallowed up death and hades in victory.

We are more than conquerors through Him.
If God did not withhold His Son, but delivered Him to death for us, how shall He not with Him give us all things freely.
All things are ours.  We are sufficient in His sufficiency. All things are possible.
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall tribulation, nor distress; shall famine, nakedness, distress,  persecution,  nakedness,  peril or sword?
Neither death nor life,  nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come nor height nor depth shall be able to separate us from the Love of Christ.
Christ in us our hope of Glory!
Hard-pressed on all sides but not crushed, Persecuted but not abandoned, knocked down but not destroyed.
None of these things move me, that I may finish the calling and purpose to my life
I press on for the mark of the prize of the high calling of God on my life.
Any Dead Dreams shall live. Like the valley of dry bones, sinews, tendons, muscles and skin shall come on the dry bones.  And what more?
That same Spirit,  that raised Jesus from the dead will quicken, vitalize , make alive the dead dreams and they will rise up to fulfilment to the glory of God
And there shall be a moment of accomplishment,  completion,  fulfilment  like Paul when he said, 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 1Cor.15:

55 “O[n] Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?”

56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

1Cor15:55-58

.

Paul’s Valedictory

6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
2TIM.4:6-8 nkjv

Hallelujah! GLORY TO GOD!

Easter Drama Script (By Fenny West)

From the Crucifixion to the Resurrection

Act1 Scene 1  Beginning of His ministry Luke 4:18

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,

He later chooses His disciples:

Jesus Appoints the Twelve

13 Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. 14 He appointed twelve[a] that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach 15 and to have authority to drive out demons. 16 These are the twelve he appointed: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter), 17 James son of Zebedee and his brother John (to them he gave the name Boanerges, which means “sons of thunder”), 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Zealot 19 and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

Acts 2 Scene 1 Dramatization of His Crucifixion

Vilification and crucifixion, Peter’s horror, rebuke and counter rebuke

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection

21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, [i]“Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!”

23 But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are [j]an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

Acts 3.  Scene 1 Gethsemane

 – Prayer and Judas arrival and kiss of death

42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” Matt26:42

Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

Acts 3 Scene 2

The Judas Kiss

47 While He was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, suddenly arrived. A large mob, with swords and clubs, was with him from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 His betrayer had given them a sign: “The One I kiss, He’s the One; arrest Him!” 49 So he went right up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.

50 “Friend,” Jesus asked him, “why have you come?”[a]

Then they came up, took hold of Jesus, and arrested Him. 51 At that moment one of those with Jesus reached out his hand and drew his sword. He struck the high priest’s slave and cut off his ear.

52 Then Jesus told him, “Put your sword back in its place because all who take up a sword will perish by a sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot call on My Father, and He will provide Me at once with more Matt26

Acts4. Scene 1 Before Pontius Pilate and condemnation

  • Pilate tries to avoid sentencing Jesus. It was a Passover custom for a prisoner, chosen by the people, to be released. Pilate attempts to use this custom by offering Jesus or Barabbas. Matthew describes Barabbas as a “notorious prisoner”, so he was probably a murderer.
  • Pilate attempts to ask the crowd what crime Jesus has committed, but they shout “Crucify him!”

Acts 4 Scene 2

  • Finally, Pilate publicly washes his hands to show that Jesus’ death is not his responsibility.

Act 5.  On the road to Golgotha,

Nothing can separate us from His love: Romans 8:37-39 nkjv

Featured snippet from the web

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. NKJV: New King James Version.

  • Romans 8:34: “Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”
  • Rom8:32
  • 1Cor15:
  • Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.  Col2:15
  • 51 Behold, I tell you a [m]mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
  • 55 “O[n] Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?”
  • 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Ps24 Lift Up Your heads
  • Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,
    The Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
    Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory.

Dead dream shall live

The Dry Bones Live

37 The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry. And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.”

Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.

So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them.

Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the [a]breath, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” ’ ” 10 So I prophesied as He commanded me, and [b]breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.
