1 John 3:
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:John1:12
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.1John4:17
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.John15:5
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2Cor5:17
6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
David went through the valleys of the shadows of death to write sweet psalms that have enduring quality. We are able to identify with them through thick and thin after thousands of years. God wants to do the same through you, in your day.
Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Let’s see some of Paul’s woes.
Yes, he faced many woes and foes, but these became his ladders for ascent; ladders and conduit to write many best sellers of all time. This was because of his perspective. He saw himself as more than a conqueror. He knew that if God was for him, no one could be against him and all their evil schemes, intrigues and diabolical machinations will come to nothing. In fact, he knew all things will work together for his good because he loved the Lord and was the called according to purpose. He knew that God was through his difficulties, working in him to work through him; working in him both to will and do according to His good pleasure. And so he could fight the good fight of faith because when all is said and done, he would come out on top. When the dust has settled after the storm, he will keep standing.
Yes, when hard-pressed, Paul knew he would not be crushed. When perplexed, he knew he needed not be in despair. When persecuted, he knew he was not abandoned. He could hear the Spirit’s voice:
‘Lo, I am with you always. I will never leave you nor forsake you. Have I not command you? Fear not, neither be you dismayed. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. The battle is not yours but Mine. I will fight for you and you will hold your peace. Be not afraid of their faces. They will be bread to you. You are more than a conqueror. Greater is He in you that he who is in the world. There are more with you than are against you. Be strong in Me and in My mighty power. ’
Now if you think you going through hell and high water, read this and be comforted
23 Are they ministers of Christ? — I speak as a fool — I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often.24 From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one.25 Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep;26 in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;27 in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness —28 besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches.29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is made to stumble, and I do not burn with indignation?
30 If I must boast, I will boast in the things which concern my infirmity.31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying.32 In Damascus the governor, under Aretas the king, was guarding the city of the Damascenes with a garrison, desiring to arrest me;33 but I was let down in a basket through a window in the wall, and escaped from his hands.
Yet amidst these woes Paul pressed on. You too can press on. Amidst these woes he wrote best sellers. You too can use your woes to write best sellers. You can obtain victories from your valleys.
In Philippi after casting out a demon from a girl who was used by his enemies, all hell broke loose against Paul and Silas. They were beaten, battered and broken and bled. And as if that was not enough, their hands and feet were chained and then thrown into the back of a dungeon of a prison.
But at midnight they decided to have a praise party. And they raised their voices and prayed and sang. It was the last thing you would expect from such prisoners. It was a ridiculous thing to do. It was a crazy move in the natural but we know what happened sooner than later. God rocked the foundations of the prison and their chains fell off. The jailor heard the cacophony and came running with his lamp. He thought they had all escaped, knowing that his life was on the line. He wanted to kill himself rather than fact the music but Paul stopped him: ‘We are all here. Do not harm yourself.’
He was so overwhelmed by their response that he was convicted and so moved to ask, ‘What must I do to be saved?’
Paul quickly seized the opportunity to lead him and his household to the Lord. They were all baptized and there was a great joy and celebration as he brought food and drink to commemorate that wonderful occasion.
And so it was from opposition and imprisonment to liberation, celebration and house-hold salvation. You see how valleys can spell victories; how woes can be ladders of ascent.(Acts16:18-34)
God is good all the time. If Paul can use his woes to write best-sellers, so can you. If he can use his valleys as ladders for rising higher in God. So can you. You can then count it all joy when you come to divers temptations because you know they are working for you; producing an exceedingly great treasure and weight of eternal glory.
Regardless of your current experience, if you are in Christ, know, that you know, that you know, that you are blessed and highly favoured. Therefore, take sides with God. Find out what He says about you and believe it and act on it and it shall be in the fullness of time, because God is not a man that He should lie. If you face an unusual kind of barrenness, then you are even a candidate for a great breakthrough, like Sarah and Abraham, Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob and Rachel, Zacharias and Elizabeth, Seek the face of the Lord and He will show you the key to unlock your doors of opportunities and creativity that will set you apart for your breakthrough. Yes, you may have suffered losses, setbacks and even retrogression but you too can pursue , overtake and recover all in the name of Jesus, like David of old.
Sing, O barren One. More will be the children of the desolate than the married woman. Enlarge the place of your dwelling, Stretch out, spare not. Lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes, regardless of what you see, you are blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places, called to be the head and not the tail. You may be barren on the outward appearance but I call you Abraham- Father of many nations. I call those things which be not as though they are and they eventually become, because my word will not return to Me empty but accomplish that which I please.
No weapon that is fashioned against me shall prosper.
Every tongue that rises against me in judgement
I will show to be in the wrong.
I am blessed in my going out and in my coming in.
Excellence is my portion, and so is diligence
Creativity, innovation is my inheritance.
He opens my spiritual eyes to see beyond the natural.
Patents, intellectual property, copyrights,
indelible legacies are mine.
Because greater is He that is me than he that is in the world.
He has given me His exceedingly great and precious promises.
And by these promises, I rise from the mundane into my destiny;
I rise from mediocrity into prosperity.
I rise into my inheritance- the divine nature.
By these I rise to possess my possession.
There shall be deliverance on Zion.
There shall be remembrance before my God.
He remembered Noah.
He remembered Hannah
He remembered Abraham
He remembered Rachel
He remembered Rebekah
He remembered Elizabeth
He remembered Manoah
He will remember me
God is not unrighteous
To forget my labour of love
In that I minister to the saints.
The time to favour me has come
Yes, the set time-the set time for my laughter;
The time for my open heaven has come.
And nothing will stop it!
The Lord of the Breakthrough,
Will give me breakthrough-
Because He is faithful and true.
Therefore, I will bless the Lord at all times.
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
I will make my boast in Him.
Let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
My life is hidden in Christ in God.
I am covered by the blood of the lamb.
Goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life.
Even when I walk through the dark vales
I fear not evil, because Jehovah Nissi is my victorious Banner.
Jehovah Shammah is always there
And I am under His protection and care.
He has given His angels charge over me.
They are on divine assignment,
Ready to take on principalities and powers
That are arrayed against me.
I am blessed in my assignment, destiny and purpose.
I shall occupy until He comes-
Doing His will, with what He has endowed.
I shall give Him my very best
Because only the best is good for Him.
After all He gave me His best.
I am blessed and highly favoured
In the Name of Jesus.
Redemption in Christ
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2Pet1:2-4
Romans 8: Free from Indwelling Sin
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 2Cor5:17
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 1Pet2:9-10
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Eph2:10
9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. 1Cor3:9
12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Ephesians 2: By Grace Through Faith
1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins
Psalms 103: Praise for the LORD’s Mercies A Psalm of David.
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
“A girl that is faithful to the Church with a bump on the back was going to marry a brother of the Church. People made fun of him telling him, with all the beautiful girls that is in this church is that which thou sawest to marry? A girl with a bump?
The brother replied I love it and also God told me clearly that she is the woman of my life.
And they married, and after 3 years brother that was nothing, had nothing and lived in poverty began to prosper in business and he teamed up with his wife and they became rich and prospered in their business, everything they touched turned into gold, they bought cars and houses.
Some time ago his wife fell pregnant and they went for an ultrasound and was told that she was pregnant with triplets. When time of birth arrived, the doctor and the wise women were doing their job by telling the woman to push and the first, the second and third babies came out. While she was ready to rest, the doctor told her he had another in the belly so it should continue to push, while she did a round thing came out of her stomach, the doctor examined it and discovered that it was hump. She straightened and could now stand up normally, there’s a loud noise throughout the hospital people gloated on all sides and gave glory to God. When she went to the church people who laughed at her were all silent, they were shocked by the huge miracle that God did in her life. 1] a miracle of finance 2] a miracle breakthrough 3] a miracle of birth without caesarean section. 4] a miracle of three bouncing baby boys 5], a miracle of healing of her bump. 6] A miracle which made silence all those who laughed at them. Our God is wonderful! This is why I pray for someone today click LIKE/SHARE and write Amen, in the year 2013, God will make you a living miracle, and in the same way that He has silenced the mockers of this couple, those who laugh at you will fall silent, thou shalt be blessed on behalf of Jesus Christ!”
After reading this incredible story on Facebook, I was so stirred and elated that this message came, confirming a message I preached not long ago.
What is your current situation that has made you laughing stock, even though you are a believer and love the Lord with all your heart? You pay day will come like the testimony you have just read. God is no respecter of persons.
Are you like Hannah? Those around you are popping children left right and centre but you remain barren? Your husband does not even understand your pain. He things the good things he buys for you or the money he gives you should suffice. But you know where the shoe is biting you.
Or are you like Sarah? You have waited many years for the promise but it has eluded you and so you decided to help yourself. Wait for your Isaac. Don’t go for Ishmael. Ishmael will be a thorn in your flesh. He will bring heartache.
Pray and fast with all your heart. Hannah did and God gave her Samuel- a great prophet of God. God also had mercy on Rachel and gave her Joseph- the beautiful fruitful bow. Elizabeth was also barren and was old but God gave her John the Baptist-the forerunner of Jesus Christ. Rebekah was barren too but God heard her prayers and gave her a double portion.
Sarah was Barren
30 But Sarai was barren; she had no child. Gen11:30
Genesis 16: Hagar and Ishmael
1 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar.
2 So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the LORD has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai.
3 Then Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan.
4 So he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress became despised in her eyes.
Barren Sarah believed and had her Boon
17 (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed — God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;
18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”
19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.
20 He did not waver at the
21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
Genesis 21: Isaac Is Born
1 And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the LORD did for Sarah as He had spoken.
2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him — whom Sarah bore to him — Isaac.
4 Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.
5 Now Abraham was one hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.
6 And Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and all who hear will laugh with me.”
7 She also said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.Gen22:1-7
Barren Rachel Had Her Boon
1 Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said to Jacob, “Give me children, or else I die!”
2 And Jacob’s anger was aroused against Rachel, and he said, “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”
22 Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb.
23 And she conceived and bore a son, and said, “God has taken away my reproach.”
24 So she called his name Joseph, and said, “The LORD shall add to me another son.” Gen30:1-2,22-24
Barren Rebekah had her Boon
21 Now Isaac pleaded with the LORD for his wife, because she was barren; and the LORD granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
22 But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the LORD.
23 And the LORD said to her: ” Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.”
24 So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb.
Hannah was barren and her mate made fun of her
2 And he had two wives: the name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
5 But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah, although the LORD had closed her womb.
6 And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the LORD had closed her womb.
7 So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat. 1Sam1:2-7
But Hannah prayed with passion and prevailed
15 But Hannah answered and said, “No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.
Samuel Is Born and Dedicated
19 Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the LORD, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the LORD remembered her.
20 So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the LORD.”
21 Now the man Elkanah and all his house went up to offer to the LORD the yearly sacrifice and his vow.
22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “Not until the child is weaned; then I will take him, that he may appear before the LORD and remain there forever.”
Elizabeth was barren
John’s Birth Announced to Zacharias
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years.
13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.
14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.
15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb.
16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.
17 He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
Birth of John the Baptist
57 Now Elizabeth’s full time came for her to be delivered, and she brought forth a son.
58 When her neighbors and relatives heard how the Lord had shown great mercy to her, they rejoiced with her. Luke1
