Learn the Lesson of Forty

Noah was in the ark and rain fell

for forty days and forty nights.

It was a test for Noah

who must have wondered,

“Has God forgotten us here?”

But the time came and the water assuaged

and he saw dry land.

God does not forget.

For forty years they wandered

In the wilderness

To get Egypt out of them

It was a test that only a few passed.

The Red Sea was a test which they failed.

But God was merciful. and the crossed over.

Moses left for forty days

It was a test but the people failed

They made idols and worshiped them

Thinking Moses had overstayed.

They courted God displeasure.

Learn the Lesson of Forty

Twelve spies were sent to spy

The Promised Land, the Land flowing

With milk and honey.

They went for forty days.

It was another test

But unbeknown to them.

Only Joshua and Caleb passed the test.

The rest flunked it with distinction.

They preferred Egypt, bondage, slavery…

They spouted an evil report

That was beyond imagination.

They saw through the enemy’s eyes

Rather through the eyes of God.

The exaggerated the negative,

spread doom and gloom.

They made the heart of the people melt;

Made the majority wail, lament

 Dispirited, depressed and desperate.

27 Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.
28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.
29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.”

31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.”
32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature.
33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

How did Joshua and Caleb pass the test?

30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” Num13:

6 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;

7 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land.
8 If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’
9 Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.” Num14:6-9

And when it was time to distribute the Land, Caleb did not forget what God had promised him 45 five years previously. He maintained his confession and reminded Joshua what God had said:

“You know the word which the LORD said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea.
7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart.
8 Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
9 So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.’
10 And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the LORD spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old.
11 As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.
12 Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the LORD said.”
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance.
14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.(Josh14:6-14)

Learn the Lesson of Forty

Goliath came and tested Israel for forty days.

The soldiers including King Saul

Quaked in their boots.

They were hopeless and hapless.

They saw no way out.

Fear gripped them, emasculated them

And almost strangulated them.

It was a test they failed until David showed up.

David had a different spirit.

He knew who he was.

He knew he had a covenant with God.

He knew God was with him.

He knew Goliath was uncircumcised.

And hence vulnerable.

He knew it was a test

And was determined to pass the test.

“Who is this uncircumcised Philistine

to defy the armies of the living God?

“You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
47 Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

David used what he had

and spoke what God said about him and won.

He used his sling and stone

And soon Goliath was toast,

He bit the dust.

David turned the light of Israel on

When he cut off the head of Goliath

Just like he had said.

God fought for him because he took sides with God

 and saw through God’s eyes.

Thank God for Jesus, our heavenly David

God’s beloved Son.

He was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit

where He was tempted by the devil for forty days.

But He knew the end from the beginning.

He knew it was a test

and He passed His test with flying colours:

“Man shall not live by bread alone

but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

Thou shalt not tempt the Lord your God.

Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve.”

He whipped the devil, left right and centre and passed the test for us.

Forty days after He rose, He ascended to heaven. The disciples were tested sore. They went into hiding, afraid of their lives. Jesus appeared to them after He rose from the dead- three days after His death, just like He had said. He appeared to them at various times for forty days, when He ascended. And ten days later, the Holy Spirit came and now indwells those who received Him.

This is why we will not fail. Because it is not by might nor by power but by the Holy Spirit.

The Comforter- Another One like Jesus- is inside of us.

He is the Standby, the Strengthener, the Advocate, the Helper, the Intercessor, the Teacher, and the Guide. He is the Greater One who dwells in us. Through Him, we are overcomers, more than conquerors. He gives us the advantage, any day, anytime, anywhere.

Thanks be to God who always causes us to pass any test and triumph through our tests.

When you are hard-pressed, know that you will not be crushed. and when perplexed, be not in despair or despondent or depressed. when you are persecuted, you are not abandoned. He said I will never leave you nor forsake you until the end of the age.

Through your tests, testimonies will abound. When you are knocked down, know that you are not knocked out. you are still in the race. Press on for the mark of the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. Always look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith.

Say to yourself, ” No temptation has come to me but that which is common to man. And God is faithful who will also through the temptation, make a way of escape, that I will be able to bear.”

Remember, Job was also tested and in the end, we know:

10 And the LORD restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
11 Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.
12 Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
13 He also had seven sons and three daughters.
14 And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch.
15 In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.
16 After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations.
17 So Job died, old and full of days.

He also said:25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; Job19:25

… I will wait, Till my change comesJob14:14

10 But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.
Job23:10 29 When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. Glory!

Wind and Wave Obey Jesus

35   On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”

36   Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.

37   And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.

38   But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

39   Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

When on the sea
Tossed by the waves
Pray and you’ll see
The God who saves.

Let not worry
Come in and steal
Make you sorry
Lose the real deal.

Look to Jesus
Despite the wind
Look to the cross
And not behind.

God does Calm storms
For those who trust
And they’re transformed
Because they’re just.

They live by faith
Not on the seen
Move in God’s might

Quote: The Miraculous Can Come from the Ridiculous

“Obedience to God’s Strange Instructions Birth Miraculous   Manifestation”

Fenny West.

CGE1They ran out of wine at a wedding ceremony to which Jesus and His mother were invited. She was approached and she referred them to Him.

He gave them a strange instruction: “Fill the pots with water. Then he told them to take some of it to the master of ceremony. It turned out to be the best wine.

Test of Abraham cAbraham waited for twenty-five years before Isaac was born. And then God tells him:’Take your son; the one you love so dearly, the apple of your eyes, and sacrifice him to Me. ‘

If that is not a strange instruction, I don’t know what is.

Abraham had turned a corner at this time. He knew the promise of God will not fail, that through him all the families of the earth shall be blessed. And so he was prepared to give God his best. Ge22

As he was about to sacrifice Isaac, he heard a voice from heaven: ‘Abraham, Abraham, do not harm that child. Now iI know you fear God. Look behind you is a ram caught inthe bush”

God provided a ram miraculously because Abraham obeyed the ridiculous  instruction.

crossing of the red sea 1

Moses was leading the the Israelites out of Egypt to the Promised Land.God was guiding them by a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day. It was unmistakeable that God was in control. But then they came face to face with the red sea. Looking back, they saw their worst fears. Pharaoh’s army was in hot pursuit.

They began to panic and murmur and wanted to eat Moses alive.” Is this not what we told you? Leave us alone to serve the Egyptians. Now you have brought us here to kill us in this watery grave. Are there no graves in Egypt? “

Moses had to run to God.

“O Lord , look what is happening. They want to eat me alive.”

God asked him, ‘What do you have in your hand? Use it’

What a strange  instruction!

Moses stretched the rod over the sea and an express way came  into manifestation and they passed through on dry ground.

CG65Jesus met a procession of mourners who were going to bury the only son of a widow in Nain and He  stopped them told them to put the casket down. He then told the  boy to rise up and he did and He gave him back to his mother.

You need to see the jubilation and gyration and celebration that followed.come comforterThe disciples were told to wait for the Promise of the Father- the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. They did and the Holy Spirit came in might and in power, filled them with power and gave them supernatural language- each speaking in a tongue they had not learnt.

Those who were very fearful and locking themselves indoors, after the crucifixion of Jesus, became very  feiry, audacious and bold in their witness.  It was the power of the Holy Spirit. Peter preached a powerful sermon and about 3000 people believed and were added to the church.boon4 the barrenA brother was led to propose to a lady who was not attractive on the outside because she had a bump on her head. He was very faithful in the Church  and so was she and believing God for a husband despite her disability. The brother obeyed God and proposed to her to her amazement. People laughed at him and queried his ‘queer’ choice.

He told them he loved the girl and that God had led him to ask for her hands.

They got married and it took three years before she got pregnant. Meanwhile , their union was like one putting a thousand to flight and two putting ten thousand to flight. Whatever they touched turned into gold. God blessed them with property and car as their business did extremely well.

Initial indication on a scan showed she was expecting three! On the day of the delivery, she gave birth to three beautiful bouncing baby boys.

Afer the third baby had come out, the doctor said it appeared there was a fourth one still left. She was encouraged to push and she did until  a hump came out. As it did, the bump on her head shrivelled off and she was able to straighten up and became competely healed.

Glory be to the Lord Who gives strange instructions that lead to miraculous manifestation. multiple miracle came from an obedience to a strange instruction.

So wahtever He says, do it.

Love your enemies.

Sing in the rain.

Give Him a sacrifice of praise.

What strange instrcutions has the Lord given you recently? Listen to Him carefuly and you will hear Him. He said ‘My sheep hear My voice. They know My voice. The voice off a stranger they will not follow. John10

Whatever He says, do it and you will be blessed.

The days of my life all prepared

When man violates the word of God and predict a date which turns out to be false there is the danger of complacency and scoffing amongst other men. This cynicism can also creep into the house of God.

No One Knows the Day or Hour

36“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

Matt24:36

God wants us to be ready always like the five wise virgins.

The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins

1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

2Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,

4but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

6“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’

7Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

8And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’

9But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’

10
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

11“Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’

12But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

13“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. Matt25:1-13

•Prophesies fulfilled in our times

22  And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.Matt24:22

Perilous Times and Perilous Men

•1  But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:

•2  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

•3  unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,

•4  traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

•5  having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 2Timothy 3:1-5

Meteorite  in Russia and 1000 Casualties… Coincident?

meteorite1

•In terms of human casualties, Friday’s meteorite strike is the worst ever reported. Almost 1,000 are reported to have sought treatment after the fall. At least 34 of them were hospitalised, with two reported to be in intensive care.

•30  ” And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke.

•31  The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. Joel2:30-31

Other incidences

•Before this there were only stories of a dog being killed in Egypt by a meteorite in 1911 and a boy being hit, but not seriously injured, by one in Uganda in 1992.

•The Russian Academy of Sciences estimate the fireball that streaked over the Ural mountains on Friday morning weighed about 10 tons. The speed of entry was at least 54,000 kilometres per hour (33,000 mph) and it shattered about 30-50 kilometres (18-32 miles) above ground, showering meteorites that caused damage over a wide area.

•The shockwave from the fireball’s supersonic passage through the atmosphere broke windows and set off car alarms. The collision took place as the world waited for Friday evening’s close pass of asteroid 2012 DA14. According to the European Space Agency, no link between the two events is thought possible.

•Until Friday morning, astronomers had thought the asteroid most likely to hit Earth was one called 2007 VK184. It is about 130 metres across and has a slim 1 in 2,000 chance of hitting Earth some time between 2048 and 2057. A danger that is thought will disappear with better tracking of its orbit.

Well Done, David Schumm

•At David Schumm’s memorial service, we celebrated the optimism, perseverance, and faith of a man with severe cerebral palsy. For all of David’s 74 years, the simple tasks of daily life required great effort. Through it all, he kept smiling and helping others by giving more than 23,000 hours as a hospital volunteer, along with encouraging at-risk teens.

•David selected Isaiah 35:3-10 to be read at his service: “Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, ‘Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God; He will come and save you. . . . Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert” (vv.3-4,6). This promise, given to the people of Israel while in captivity, reminds us of our hope for the time when Christ will return for those who trust and follow Him.

•During David’s last weeks, he often pointed visitors to a large picture of Jesus near his bed, saying, “He’s coming to get me soon.” This is the hope Jesus Christ gives to all His children, which calls forth our thanks and praise to Him!

Preach the Word in Season

2 Timothy 4: Preach the Word

•1  I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:

•2  Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

•3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

•4  and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

•5  But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry

Because of Delay

Because of delay in the day of Moses the people cast off restraint and revelled and rebelled.

Ex20 Moses Where is this Moses? He is not coming back.

•8  But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

•9  The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

•The Day of the Lord

•10  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

•11  Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,

•12  looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?

Evil Men and Impostors Growing Worse and Worse…

•12  Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.

•13  But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.2 Tim3:12-13

This is the Day of Salvaytion

This is the Acceptable time.

If you are not sure of your salvation do not delay. Tomorrow is not promised anyone.

Find a Bible-believing Church and commit to it and grow in grace as we wait the appearing of our God and Saviour.

Unless you are planted you cannot flourish.

•13  Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. Ps92:13

The Lord will descend

16  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.

•17  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

•18  Therefore comfort one another with these words.1Thess4:16-18

I will Come Again

In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John14:2-3

I Am Coming Quickly

20 He who testifies to these things says,

“Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Rev22:20-21
