Open Doors from Quarantine ( 1) ( by Fenny West)

Open Doors from Quarantine ( 1)

41   And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”

42   Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph’s hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck.

43   And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him, “Bow the knee!” So he set him over all the land of Egypt.

44   Pharaoh also said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, and without your consent no man may lift his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.”

45   And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-Paaneah. And he gave him as a wife Asenath, the daughter of Poti-Pherah priest of On. So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt. Gen41:41-45

An open door awaits the child of God, who trusts in Him, depends on Him. He did it for Joseph. He can do it for you too. Just maintain your excellence, reliability integrity and purity. No matter the opposition, it will turn out to be an opportunity for your promotion and even an unprecedented open door.

Joseph had a big dream but as he innocently told his family, he ran into trouble. Whilst his father hid the matter in his heart, his brothers not only envied him but hated him and his guts (Gen 37:6-7). However he had the audacity to dream again despite their initial disgust and dismay and outrage (Gen 37 :9). The interpretations of the dreams were in no doubt: they would be subservient to him (Gen 37:8). The preferential treatment he got from his dad compounded issues. He specially tailored a coat of many colours for him as daddy’s pet. He knew it. His dad knew it. They knew it. ( Gen37:3) And so they wanted to put his light out at the earliest opportunity. They wanted that dream dead and buried.

The opportunity came when Jacob sent Joseph on errand, to go see if they were alright in the forest. When they saw him from afar they said, “Behold, the dreamer comes. Let’s kill him and see what will come of the dream.” V19

Soon they proceeded with their clandestine and wicked plan. Joseph was stripped of his coat and dumped in a dish awaiting execution. Then one of his brothers pleaded for him.” “Let’s sell him and make some money instead of killing him. V 22
Some traders emerged and the transaction was completed and Joseph was sold away as a slave. He ended up in Egypt, bought by an army officer – Potiphar. V25-28

God was with Joseph and caused him to excel and have favour with his master. He served his master so well that he left everything in his charge. He knew that Joseph was God – fearing and he was being blessed on account of Joseph’s presence. The success of Joseph was astounding. Gen 39:1-3

Meanwhile, Potiphar’s wife lusted after Joseph because of his good looks and build. She constantly pestered him to make love to her but Joseph refused, considering it a great wickedness, more so in view of his standing with his master. But she would not stop.
One day when he entered her room to do his chores, she grabbed him and tried to force him to make love to her against his will. Joseph refused her overtures to compromise his purity and integrity and ran away, leaving his coat with her. Gen 39:7-13

She screamed and wailed to attract the attention of the neighbours accusing Joseph of attempted rape. Joseph denied it but it was her word against his. His master believed her, albeit reluctantly, and Joseph was sent to prison. What a sad day it was! Talk of bad things happening to good people.

However, even in prison, Joseph displayed his excellent and exceptional character. This brought favour and an opening for him to be made an overseer of other prisoners. (Gen.39:20-23)

Do you have a dream that has been oppose or barricaded by circumstances? Have you found yourself in quarantine despite your good deeds, integrity and purity?  Have you lost your job as a result of the lock down from CORONA19 ? Or are you imprisoned at home but working from home and wondering when all this lock down would end? If so maintain your character and faith in God, wherever you have found yourself. God will give you an open door if your expect it. It could be a door to witness to friends online or from home or a door of promotion as you display excellence and loyalty to your employers even at such desperate times.

In jail Joseph cared for other inmates and that character opened the door for him to be made an overseer. He also noticed the sad countenance of other inmates and inquired what was wrong. They opened up to him-sharing their dreams which he interpreted. They were subsequently released just as he had predicted. He pleaded with one of them not to forget him when he was restored to his former role as a butler to the King. However he forgot him for two years.

Then the King dreams a dream that perplexed him and no one could interpret it. This was when the butler remembered Joseph and told the King about Joseph and how he interpreted his dream and that of his inmate and it came true.

Joseph was summoned to the palace where the king relayed his dream to him. Joseph interpreted the dream: that there would be seven years of plenty in the land and seven years of famine. However the famine would be so severe that the seven years of plenty would be forgotten. He advised the King to look for someone to administer the years of plenty so that they do not starve to death. Gen 41:29-36

The Pharaoh was so impressed that he not only pardoned Joseph, but promoted him from prisoner to Prime Minister.

“See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.”

So Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt

What an opening for Joseph!

The Pharaoh gave him a chariot, his ring and a robe and Joseph was feted, honoured all through the land. Within 24 hours his life was completely transformed.  God can do the same in your life, despite your quarantine or lock down. Expect an opening, an opportunity, an open door, a supernatural favour or promotion. Remember, “All things work together for good to those who love God and who are the called according to purpose.” You have to stand on this scripture and ask the Holy Spirit that good thing that He has ordained for you during this lock down. If you seek Him about it earnestly, you will find it.

If you are a writer, expect God to open your eyes to write a best-seller even from what is happening as a result of this unprecedented lock down. If you are a songwriter, it can be a time to write a song that will go viral on all social media platforms. Expect great things from a great God.

Joseph had a dream from God and it appeared everything was working against him, but God allowed those things to bring Joseph to the place of the fulfilment of his dream, assignment and purpose.

Similarly your opposition will bring opportunity, promotion, open doors, acclaim, stupendous success that will resound for many years. And when that opportunity comes, use it to the glory of God. Give your very best. Do not forget where you came from.

Joseph despite not going to a university and studying a degree in finance and economics, excelled in his administration of the food and produce in the time of prosperity and bumper harvest. He sought the face of God who opened the door for him to give him wisdom to manage the plenty in an impressive way so that in the time of famine Egypt became a place where others came for food. Besides, his brothers also wandered into Egypt and were flabbergasted to find that their brother whom they sold was now in charge as the Prime Minister. Joseph, rather than take revenge against them, took care of them. Whilst they trembled, he comforted them, saying it was not their fault. They meant it for evil but God meant it for good to preserve the lives of many in future.

5 But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life.
6 For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting.
7 And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. Gen 45:5-8

So expect the Supernatural hand of God in your quarantine. God is still the same. Expect your opening, your opportunity, your ‘light –bulb- moment’. It could be a new job opportunity. It could be an opportunity to witness and lead someone or people to Christ. It could be the opening of an online mega-business that makes you a household name or brand. It could be a new skill or sets of skills you develop whilst on lock down that sets you up for life. Make the most this opportunity. The path of the righteous is like a shining light that shines brighter and brighter to the full light of day. (Prov. 4:18)

5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools.
7 They go from strength to strength; Ps84:5-7

Take this word and mix it with faith and run with it and make this lock down or quarantine work big for you.

There Is a Name Greater than Covid19 ( By Fenny West)

There Is a Name Greater

The Greater the Test

The Greater the Testimony

The greater the trial

The greater the triumph

Our God is greater than the greatest

Higher than the highest

Stronger than the strongest

Bigger than the biggest

Wiser than the wisest

He is the Sovereign God

Able to do exceeding abundantly

Far above what we can ask or think or dream of;

Far beyond our wildest dreams

According to the power at work in us.

He can be trusted to keep against that day

that entrusted into His Hands

There is a Name- Jesus- Greater

Than any other name

9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil2:9-11

12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts4:12

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Living His Dream ( by Fenny West)

Living  His Dream

God has a Dream for you;
An expectation of You;
A hope for your calling;
A dividend for your believing.

Know, much has been invested in you.
He sent the Best, His beloved Son for you.
He did not spare Him from Cross, for you.
Jesus went and shed His blood for you.

That sacrifice was the full price paid.
Yes, on the Cross His life He laid.
It was done; the deal was fully done
By the only One qualified – the Son.

Oh, what a great price He willingly paid
To guarantee our acceptance, salvation!
Oh what a bridge He eternally made,
To justify us and make us New Creation!

And now His dream is that You win,
No matter what happens, that you win;
No matter what you face, that you win;
Regardless of the wind, that you win.

Press on in the Name above all Names.
Set your face like a flint in that Name.
Know that you know He’s ever the same,
His power towards you is still the same.

Put your hands in His hands, keep standing.
Put your faith in His word, keep believing.
Keep your eyes on Jesus-the Author and Finisher.
See the Great Expectation in sight, you’re winner.

Galatians 2:20
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Romans 8:35
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”

Romans 8:37
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

Romans 8:38
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,”
Romans 8:39
“Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Calling All Mighty Men ( by Fenny West)

Calling All Mighty Men

Calling Mighty Men, those who taken a back seat; those who say,”I am tired- tired of the fight  therefore, I retire.”

Come and you will be rekindled.

Come and you will be recharged.

Come and you will be relaunched.

Come for a new visitation and unction for progression, propagation and promotion. (Luke19:37-44)

It’s time to be afire again for God..

It’s not  time to retire.

Come and rekindle your desire for the things of God.

Throw away the denominational dry bones and traditions of men. (Matt7:7-13)

Ditch the cultural weights that so easily  beset and derail.

Latch onto the pure and unadulterated word of God that is able to establish and build you up and give you an inheritance amongst the sanctified. (Acts20:32)

Go for the gold of God. Fight the good fight of faith. (1Tim6:12)

See, there is a lot of land remaining to be conquered. ( Josh1:2-3)

See  there is much work to be done.

See, the fields are already white, ready for  harvest. ( John9:34-35)

See  the time is nigh for the former and latter rain in the first month. (Joel2:23)

See the clouds are full, ready to empty themselves as rain.( Eccle11:3)

What was sown in years shall now be reaped with joy. Those who  went out weeping, bearing precious seeds, shall doubtless return, with a great harvest. (Ps126:6)

Calling Mighty men, like the mighty men of David. Men who knew their purpose, men who were professional, proficient and efficient- Men of timber and calibre; Men who were renowned; Men of Substance.

David’s Mighty Men
11And after him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines had banded together near a field full of lentils, Israel’s troops fled from them. 12 But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field, defended it, and struck down the Philistines. So the LORD brought about a great victory.

David Destroys the Amalekites
17And David struck them down from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man escaped, except four hundred young men who fled, riding off on camels. 18So David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. 19Nothing was missing, young or old, son or daughter, or any of the plunder the Amalekites had taken. David brought everything back.…

Calling Mighty  men, those playing dead. I will bring you out of your graves to fulfil vision. Because I am the resurrection and the life. And he who believes in Me, even though he dies, yet shall he live. Son of man, shall these bones live? (John11:25)

Son of man, it’s not over until I say so. When they write you off, I will write you in. For I will do a new thing in your life and many will see and fear and put their trust in Me. You shall be a reference point, a sign post of significance for posterity. You shall break all records and be a pace-setter in your generation, as I give you double for your trouble.

Calling mighty men, near and far. Come, no matter how far flung. Come, if it is well with you. There are others you can help. Your life can touch other men and raise them from the gutter of life.

Come, if you are short-changed. God will fight for you and you will hold your peace. Come, if you’re ostracised and you will be brought into a warm, godly and holy fold.

Come, and rise to a new dimension-your rightful place in the plan and purpose of God. Come and be honed to fulfil vision.

Paul refused to be derailed by adverse circumstances. He stood the test of time and finished well. You too can.

22 And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,
23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me.
24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Striving for a Crown

24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
26 Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.
27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

Nehemiah withstood fierce opposition and and adversity until he finished rebuilding the broken down wall of Jerusalem. You too can.

The Wall Completed

Nehemiah 6: Conspiracy Against Nehemiah
1 Now it happened when Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall, and that there were no breaks left in it (though at that time I had not hung the doors in the gates),
2 that Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, “Come, let us meet together among the villages in the plain of Ono.” But they thought to do me harm.
3 So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?”
4 But they sent me this message four times, and I answered them in the same manner.
15 So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of Elul, in fifty-two days.

You too can complete your assignment. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Pursuing Purpose With Determination ( by Fenny West)

Pursue Purpose with Determination

Pursue Purpose with Determination.

Forging forward, despite opposition.

Set your face like a flint, like Jesus,

En route Jerusalem to fulfill the vision.

There He endured the cross because of us.

There He finished His divine purpose:

For that reason He was born;

“Behold the Lamb born to take away our sin;

To take away the sin of the world.”

You too have a purpose; the reason you came;

The reason you were born.

Discover that Purpose.

Develop the purpose.

Pay the price for that purpose.

Pay the tax for that purpose.

Set your face like a flint for that purpose.

Discipline yourself for that purpose.

Sacrifice, deny yourself for that purpose

Be totally sold out, committed, devoted to that purpose.

Be steadfast immovable, always abounding

In regard to that purpose.

Face that Purpose resolutely, uncompromisingly,

tenaciously, adamantly and finish it like Paul:

Philippians 3:12

“Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:13

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,”

Philippians 3:14

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Paul pursued that purpose and finished well.

2 Timothy 4:6

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.”

2 Timothy 4:7

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”

2 Timothy 4:8

“Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

Pursue purpose like Esther

And finish regardless of weather

Set your face like a stone for the sceptre

And you will not be denied your harvest.

Esther 4:16

“Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.”

Esther 8:17

“And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.”

Nehemiah fulfilled his purpose:

Rebuilding the broken down walls of Jerusalem.

Nehemiah 6:15

“So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.”

When David finished his assignment, he gave up the ghost.

Acts 13:36

“For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:”

Jesus knew His purpose and completed His assignment:

How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
Luke2:49

“In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth.”

John18:37

John 17:4

“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”

John 19:30

“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.”

He gave us an example to follow like all others. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

Let us pray:

Father, Your word says, “If God be for us, who can be against us?

Jesus said , “In the world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. Thanks be to God who always causes us to triumph.

Whoever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. The just shall live by faith. We have what it takes to finish and finish well God is working in us, both to will and to do according to His good pleasure. He who has begun this good work will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus. He will perfect it.  I am looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Father God, I thank you for your plan and purpose for my life. Thank you that I am thoroughly furnished and equipped for this assignment. I have put my hands to the plough and will not look back.

I refused any distractions from dislodging my focus at the bull’s eye. I forget the past-both failures and successes, and I press on for what is ahead. I press on for the mark of the prize of my calling in Christ Jesus. I set my face like a flint, like Jesus, like Paul, like Esther, like Nehemiah. I thank you that I have what it takes to finish and finish well.

Thank you for Your Holy Spirit, my Helper, Standby, Intercessor, Teacher, Guide-the Anointing that lifts burdens and destroys yokes. It is forward ever and backward never, in Jesus’ Name. I am going from strength to strength and from glory to glory, because the glory of this latter house shall be greater than the former. God has given me increased grace and capacity and there shall be no more limits to my inroads and accomplishments. I will surpass every expectation, because You work in me, both to will and do of Your good pleasure. I am confident that You will do exceeding abundantly far above that which I can think, imagine, ask or dream of, according to the Holy Spirit’s power at work in me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen

Opposition Propels Promotion ( by Fenny West)

Opposition Propels Promotion (2)

When you are in league with God; when you are a son of God; when you are blood – washed and blood-bought; there is more to you than meets the eye. Those who touch you touch God. You are divine property and territory. Those who play with you play with fire. Those who oppose you are working for you; they are propelling you to your promotion; in fact, they are promoting you, unbeknown to them.

Joseph was the son of Jacob, born in his old age, born to Rachel whom he loved but was barren until God heard her cry and opened her womb. She had suffered ridicule from her sister, Leah, also married to Jacob and had no problem in popping out children like popcorn. Rachel was despised, depressed and disdained because of her predicament. And so when Joseph was born, he became the apple of the eyes of Jacob. He loved him to a fault. He could do no wrong. Whilst others were sent into the forest to do the hard work, Joseph played games at home. He was treated like an egg and this aroused jealousy in the hearts of his brothers. They hated him. He was an offence to them. But it was not his fault that daddy loved him so much. In fact, he loved him to the point that he made a special robe of many colours for him. It was bespoke, specially embroidered and designed for him. It was undoubtedly expensive. Jacob spared no expense for this son that he waited for so long for.

Joseph innocently lapped up the love and attention of dad, not knowing that his brothers were plotting murder. The opportunity came when Jacob sent his beloved on an errand to go and give food to his brothers in the jungle.

They saw him coming with his flamboyant coat of many colours, and one of them said: “Behold, the dreamer is coming. Let us kill him and see what will become of his dreams.”

Joseph had dreamed in times past and had innocently told his brothers about the dream. The interpretation of the dream was obvious. He was going to be the top dog in the family. Everyone would be subservient. In fact, he dreamed twice and both dreams said the same, “You will be my subjects.”

This triggered their hatred and here in the jungle, he was at their mercy. They enjoyed the food he brought, yet plotted to kill him.

He was stripped of his coat and dumped into a pit. They then changed their minds about killing him and sold him into slavery to some merchants who were passing by.

The merchants took him to Egypt and sold him to a top army official, Potiphar. Joseph, the Prince in Jacob’s House was now a servant in a foreign land.

Jacob taught his beloved son was dead. His brothers brought back his coat smeared with blood. They told him they saw the coat abandoned and knew nothing about his beloved son. He was to come to his conclusion based on the evidence before him. He grieved and mourned for his son, feared dead, whilst they pretended they knew nothing and were innocent. Inwardly they were jubilant, thinking “Good riddance!”

But Opposition Propels Promotion.

Just as Rachel’s opposition and disdain in her promotion, so did Joseph’s opposition propel his promotion.  But this will take some time for incubation before gestation.

Firstly, Joseph though shielded from chores at home, secretly learned to give his best to whatever he did and this stood him in good stead. He served Potiphar to the best of his ability and was in league with God. He surrendered his future into the hand of God and looked forward to a grandiose tomorrow as he saw in the dream, no matter how impossible it may now seem.

He served his master well, worked as if he was working for God. And whatever he put his hands to do prospered. Potiphar trusted him so much that he withheld nothing from him. He was a ‘king’ in the house, despite his official status as a houseboy. His master knew he was being blessed because of Joseph. He would not have any others house boy or servant.

Satan Gets Jealous

Your opposition may not just come from those around you-your kit and kin, your family or church members or colleagues at work. It could also come from the devil, directly or indirectly. Why? He is not happy when you are glorifying God in your service to man. So he will try to fault you, pull you down. He would want you to compromise your standard.

This was what happened to Joseph in Potiphar’s House. His wife saw that Joseph was handsome and cast a longing eye on him. She winked at him many times and dressed to seduce him but Joseph ignored her overtures. He knew it was a temptation and that the enemy of his soul was trying to get to him through this woman’s amoral flirting phase.

One day as he went to tidy her room, she seized the opportunity to grab him, “Lie with me, now!” she imposed.

Joseph left his coat with her and ran away.

She screamed loud, raised an alarm that caused the neighbors to come running down for her rescue. And as they arrived she pretended to be a victim, sexually harassed, violated and raped by her servant. It was her word against his and as she was in tears and looked emotionally wrecked, they believed her. Joseph’s defence fell on a deaf ear, like water on a duck’s back. He was condemned, though innocent.

When his master arrived, the drama was replayed, this time possibly made worse by neighbours who believed her and wanted this foreigner to get his ‘just’ desert. Everyone and everything seemed to be against Joseph, despite his integrity and purity and honesty. Satan had used this lustful woman to oppose his destiny. Potiphar reluctantly sent him to prison. His wife knew the evil she had orchestrated.

But God is not dead. The good work He begins in your life cannot be scuppered. He has the final word. All things work together for good to those who love God; to those who trust Him; to those who are in league with Him. He fights their battles. One with God is a majority. No weapon fashioned against them will prosper. They may as it was Joseph going down a ladder to oblivion, despite the grandiose dream of greatness they have, but that ladder will lead them up. How? God knows how. There is nothing impossible with Him and to Him.

So Joseph, the excellent man; the man who gave his best in Potiphar’s house and made him prosper is now in prison. Has he been abandoned by God? – Far from it. Was Joseph bitter? Definitely no. Joseph continued to be the best even in the prison. He repaid evil with good. He knew he was in a spiritual warfare and found ways to bless others. He looked beyond his troubles and cared for other inmates.

Are you similarly “incarcerated, cocooned, isolated or even imprisoned”?

Joseph in prison, remained excellent, magnanimous and exemplary. The chief prison warden could not ignore his distinction, even in prison. He knew he was cut out for greatness and he wasted no time in making him an overseer of other prisoners. So Joseph prospered also in prison. Promotion followed him despite the opposition from Satan using Potiphar’s wife.

Take a leaf from Joseph. Stop the blame game and leave your case with God.

Joseph went the extra mile. He saw some of his inmates sad in countenance and asked them what was troubling them. They told him about dreams they had the night before that caused concern. Joseph encouraged them to tell him the dreams to see if he could help them. He ignored the fact that it was a dream that triggered the opposition that catapulted him to a foreign land and now he was in prison, about to interpret a dream. Nevertheless, he was selfless and prayerful listened and had the meaning of the dreams from God. God used him to help others because he was open, surrendered and compassionate. The dream he interpreted, set him up for his uplift, his elevation, and promotion in the fullness of time. Yes, his opposition Propelled him into greatness, into his unparalleled promotion-from prisoner to Prime Minister, in a foreign land.

This is what my God can do. Are you in a similar predicament, impasse, malaise, pit, prison or dungeon? Give Him a try. Are you opposed, despite your integrity, purity, and honesty? Fear not. Be of good courage. The Lord is with you wherever you go; wherever you are. You will not go under for going over. It is not over until He says so. Stand to see your salvation.

Pay Day is coming, in fact, it is here. Receive it. And be expectant. The expectation of the righteous shall not be dashed.

Opposition Propels Promotion.

This is what will Greet you:

Noah was in the ark and rain fell

for forty days and forty nights.

It was a test for Noah

who must have wondered,

“Has God forgotten us here?”

But the time came and the water assuaged

and he saw dry land.

God does not forget.

For forty years they wandered

In the wilderness

To get Egypt out of them

It was a test that only a few passed.

The Red Sea was a test which they failed.

But God was merciful. and the crossed over.

Moses left for forty days

It was a test but the people failed

They made idols and worshiped them

Thinking Moses had overstayed.

They courted God displeasure.

Twelve spies were sent to spy

The Promised Land, the Land flowing

With milk and honey.

They went for forty days.

It was another test

But unbeknown to them.

Only Joshua and Caleb passed the test.

The rest flunked it with distinction.

They preferred Egypt, bondage, slavery…

They spouted an evil report

That was beyond imagination.

They saw through the enemy’s eyes

Rather through the eyes of God.

The exaggerated the negative,

spread doom and gloom.

They made the heart of the people melt;

Made the majority wail, lament

 Dispirited, depressed and desperate.

27 Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.
28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.
29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.”

31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.”
32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature.
33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

How did Joshua and Caleb pass the test?

30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” Num13:

6 But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;

7 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land.
8 If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’
9 Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.” Num14:6-9

And when it was time to distribute the Land, Caleb did not forget what God had promised him 45 five years previously. He maintained his confession and reminded Joshua what God had said:

“You know the word which the LORD said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea.
7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart.
8 Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
9 So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.’
10 And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the LORD spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old.
11 As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in.
12 Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the LORD said.”
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance.
14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel.(Josh14:6-14)

Goliath came and tested Israel for forty days.

The soldiers including King Saul

Quaked in their boots.

They were hopeless and hapless.

They saw no way out.

Fear gripped them, emasculated them

And almost strangulated them.

It was a test they failed until David showed up.

David had a different spirit.

He knew who he was.

He knew he had a covenant with God.

He knew God was with him.

He knew Goliath was uncircumcised.

And hence vulnerable.

He knew it was a test

And was determined to pass the test.

“Who is this uncircumcised Philistine

to defy the armies of the living God?

“You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
47 Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

David used what he had

and spoke what God said about him and won.

He used his sling and stone

And soon Goliath was toast,

He bit the dust.

David turned the light of Israel on

When he cut off the head of Goliath

Just like he had said.

God fought for him because he took sides with God

 and saw through God’s eyes.

Thank God for Jesus, our heavenly David

God’s beloved Son.

He was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit

where He was tempted by the devil for forty days.

But He knew the end from the beginning.

He knew it was a test

and He passed His test with flying colours:

“Man shall not live by bread alone

but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

Thou shalt not tempt the Lord your God.

Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve.”

He whipped the devil, left right and centre and passed the test for us.

Forty days after He rose, He ascended to heaven. The disciples were tested sore. They went into hiding, afraid of their lives. Jesus appeared to them after He rose from the dead- three days after His death, just like He had said. He appeared to them at various times for forty days, when He ascended. And ten days later, the Holy Spirit came and now indwells those who received Him.

This is why we will not fail. Because it is not by might nor by power but by the Holy Spirit.

The Comforter- Another One like Jesus- is inside of us.

He is the Standby, the Strengthener, the Advocate, the Helper, the Intercessor, the Teacher, and the Guide. He is the Greater One who dwells in us. Through Him, we are overcomers, more than conquerors. He gives us the advantage, any day, anytime, anywhere.

Thanks be to God who always causes us to pass any test and triumph through our tests.

When you are hard-pressed, know that you will not be crushed. and when perplexed, be not in despair or despondent or depressed. when you are persecuted, you are not abandoned. He said I will never leave you nor forsake you until the end of the age.

Through your tests, testimonies will abound. When you are knocked down, know that you are not knocked out. you are still in the race. Press on for the mark of the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. Always look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith.

Say to yourself, ” No temptation has come to me but that which is common to man. And God is faithful who will also through the temptation, make a way of escape, that I will be able to bear.”

Remember, Job was also tested and in the end, we know:

10 And the LORD restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
11 Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.
12 Now the LORD blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys.
13 He also had seven sons and three daughters.
14 And he called the name of the first Jemimah, the name of the second Keziah, and the name of the third Keren-Happuch.
15 In all the land were found no women so beautiful as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them an inheritance among their brothers.
16 After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations.
17 So Job died, old and full of days.

He also said:25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, And He shall stand at last on the earth; Job19:25

… I will wait, Till my change comesJob14:14

10 But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.

Shake It Off and Step On It

A story is told of a donkey that was considered in its “last leg of life”. It was old seemed of little use. Whilst grazing however, it fell into a disused well.

Someone came up with a cruel idea that there was no point rescuing the donkey so they decide to bury it alive. They took shovels and started throwing down debris on the donkey. The donkey that was in distress after falling into the well suddenly felt earth landing obits back. It was horrified that it was being buried alive. It got a revelation from the blue: Shake it off! It simply kept shaking off the debris and stepping on it. Those trying to bury it alive were awestruck as the donkey kept shaking the debris off and stepping up and up until it was set free to live again. Alleluia!

Who is trying to bury you alive?

Who is throwing debris on you and saying it is over for ? Shake it off and move on.

Who says your dream is dead. Remember Jesus is the resurrection and the life.

Joshua Moved on after the death of Moses

After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying:

2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.

3 “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. Joshua1:1-3

David Moved on after his son died

David therefore pleaded with God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground.

17 So the elders of his house arose and went to him, to raise him up from the ground. But he would not, nor did he eat food with them.

18 Then on the seventh day it came to pass that the child died. And the servants of David were afraid to tell him that the child was dead. For they said, “Indeed, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not heed our voice. How can we tell him that the child is dead? He may do some harm!”

19 ¶ When David saw that his servants were whispering, David perceived that the child was dead. Therefore David said to his servants, “Is the child dead?” And they said, “He is dead.”

20 ¶ So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house; and when he requested, they set food before him, and he ate.

21 Then his servants said to him, “What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you arose and ate food.”

22 ¶ And he said, “While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, ‘Who can tell whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’

23 “But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.”

24 ¶ Then David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her and lay with her. So she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. Now the LORD loved him,

Paul Moved On

He was a murderer of many believers but had to put the past behind him.

For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it.

14 And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.

15 ¶ But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,

Gal1:13-15

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,

14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Phil3:12-14

On his mission to Rome, Paul was shipwrecked and after surviving that with others they landed on the island of Malta. There he and others warmed themselves in a fire they had made from branches of wood they had gathered. Suddenly, as they warmed themselves a deadly snake rose out of the fire and fastened itself on Paul’s hand. It remained clinging on after biting him. People were flabbergasted and looked on. Some began to wonder how evil he must be to have survived a shipwreck and then be attacked by deadly snake.

Paul simply shook it off. They were expecting him to fall down and die. However when nothing happened to him they changed their tune and began to say, he must be a god.

Now when they had escaped, they then found out that the island was called Malta.

2 And the natives showed us unusual kindness; for they kindled a fire and made us all welcome, because of the rain that was falling and because of the cold.

3 But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

4 So when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live.”

5 But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.

6 However, they were expecting that he would swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had looked for a long time and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

You and I on the road to our vision and mission- doing what we are called to do will be challenged by seeming setbacks and attacks but we must not allow them to stop us from moving forward. You and I have the Greater on living on the inside of us. If God be for us, who can be against us. Thanks be to God who always gives us the victory. Shake that snake off and move on. Shake that disappointment off and move on. Shake that disdain off and march on. Shake that past Waterloo off and press on. Even if sin that you committed, confess it and forsake it by the power of the spirit and forgive yourself and move on.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.1John1:9

14 “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2Chro7:14

Naomi Moved on

She had lost her husband and two sons in a foreign land they had migrated to, thinking it was a greener pasture. But news came that God was blessing her people back home. She had to decide to go back home even though she had had a great loss.

She went back home with Ruth, her daughter-in-law. They started from a humble beginnings till God turned their table around into a place of abundance. Through Ruth, marrying Boaz, Naomi not only had a consolation and restoration but a grand son who had a direct lineage to  the Saviour of the World. What a blessing from moving on!

Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died; so the woman survived her two sons and her husband.

6 ¶ Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the LORD had visited His people by giving them bread.

7 Therefore she went out from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.Ruth1:5-7

¶ So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son.

14 Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without a close relative; and may his name be famous in Israel!

15 “And may he be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him.”

16 Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her bosom, and became a nurse to him.

17 Also the neighbor women gave him a name, saying, “There is a son born to Naomi.” And they called his name Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.Ruth4:13-17

Peter Moved On

He was a disciple who thought he was a champion disciple that would be the last man standing even when all others quit in disloyalty when the crunch comes. Jesus saw through him and predicted that he would deny Him. It happened as Jesus said and Peter was devastated. He relied on His own strength and failed woefully.

¶ Peter said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble, yet I will not be.”

30 ¶ Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”

31 ¶ But he spoke more vehemently, “If I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And they all said likewise.

Mark14:29-31

Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came.

67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with Jesus of Nazareth.”

68 ¶ But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are saying.” And he went out on the porch, and a rooster crowed.

69 ¶ And the servant girl saw him again, and began to say to those who stood by, “This is one of them.”

70 But he denied it again. And a little later those who stood by said to Peter again, “Surely you are one of them; for you are a Galilean, and your speech shows it.

71 ¶ Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this Man of whom you speak!”

72 ¶ A second time the rooster crowed. Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And when he thought about it, he wept. Mark 14:66-72

After the crucifixion of Christ, Peter thought it was all over for him with regards to ministry. But Jesus came back to him after the resurrection and restored him three times even as he disappointed Christ three times.

So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”

16 ¶ He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”

17 ¶ He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know a

John21:15-17

Peter accepted forgiveness and the trust Jesus placed in him and on the Day of Pentecost we witness a bold, fiery, spirit-fuelled, dynamic and passionate preacher who stirred the hearts of about three thousand sinners, leading them to salvation. Glory to God.

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

38 ¶ Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 “For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

40 ¶ And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”

41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.Acts2:37-41

John Mark Moved On

This was a man who decamped from an evangelistic assignment because of other demands. Paul was not impressed and marked him as a quitter. When he came back to join them in a later mission, Paul was vehemently opposed to giving Mark another chance. Barnabas on the other hand wanted to give Mark the benefit of the doubt. This caused a big rift between Paul and Barnabas, so much so that they parted company.

Then after some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us now go back and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they are doing.”

37 Now Barnabas was determined to take with them John called Mark.

38 But Paul insisted that they should not take with them the one who had departed from them in Pamphylia, and had not gone with them to the work.

39 Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another. And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus;

Acts15:36-39

John Mark did not wallow in self-pity having been rejected by the great apostle Paul. He continued to minister with Barnabas and made his mark to the point that even Paul acknowledged:

Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry.2Tim4:11

This same John Mark went on to write the book of Mark- a dynamic presentation of one of the synoptic gospels.

Use any stumbling blocks on the road to your mission as a stepping stone to a higher ground. Let nothing and no one stop you. Shake every barrier. Tell every mountain to move in the name of Jesus. You are more than a conqueror. Whoever is born of God overcomes this world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world – even your faith. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. You have overcome because of the Greater One in You. The Holy Spirit in you has come to give you the advantage, the upper hand, the cutting-edge. You are not a mere man. You are a superman. You are extra-ordinary because God has added His ‘extra’ to your “ordinary”. Take authority in Jesus’ Name.

Is it business failure? Shake it off and move on.

Is it marital failure or disappointment? Shake it off and move on.

Is it career derailment?  Shake it off and move on. Some people lost their job and they discovered their purpose and mission and vision. You can be an employer. Create your own job. There is greatness buried inside of you. It’s time to resurrect it.

Is it sickness and disease?  Shake it off and move on.

The glory of the Lord is upon you.

Arise and walk. Arise and live. Arise and move. No more fears. No more tears.  Arise on eagles wings. Soar on the wind of the Holy Spirit.

0              Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.Eph3:20-21
