Goals Help You Go ( by Fenny West)

Goals Help You Go

Without Goals You Can’t Go
Places right, You ought to go;
Achieve want you want to achieve
Receive what you desire to receive.

Godly goals propel you in the right direction
Bring you the right instructions
Powered by the Holy Spirit;
Emanating from the Spirit of truth.

With Godly goals you say the right things,
And set the right targets and standards;
Pray the right way, do the right things
associate with the right people,
Go to the right places at the right time.

With Godly goals, good will come to you;
Evil will be repelled, warded away.
With Godly goals, God will be for you;
And if He is for you, who can be against you?

Godly Goals Require Faith ( By Rick Warren)

Godly Goals Require Faith
by Rick Warren

“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6a (NIV)

Godly goals are set through faith. The Bible says, “Without faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6a NIV). In order to please God, you must set goals that require faith.

What does this mean? It means you must set goals that are bigger than ones you can reach on your own.

For instance, I want you to set a health goal for this year. As I’ve said, if you don’t have a health goal, then your goal is to stay the same or get worse. To move forward and get healthier, you must set a health goal.

Let’s say you need to take off some weight. If you say, “My goal is to lose one pound,” well, you know you can do better than that. Set a goal based on what God tells you to do, and I have no doubt that will be a goal that will require you to remain dependent on Jesus.

You haven’t believed God until you’ve attempted to do something that can’t be done without his power at work in your life.

Talk It Over

  • How have you seen God work in your life to help you accomplish your goals?

  • In what ways do your goals reveal how much faith you have in God?

  • What is God telling you to do that you thought was too big for you?

 Goals Stretch  Your Faith ( by Rick Warren)

Goals Stretch Your Faith
by Rick Warren

“According to your faith let it be done to you.” (Matthew 9:29b NIV)

Every time you set a goal, you are saying, “I believe God wants me to do this by ‘such and such’ a date,” and that is a statement of faith.

If you state a big goal, God will work in a big way. If you state a medium-size goal, God will work in a medium way. If you state a small goal, God will work in a small way.

So you can see how goals stretch your faith. They affirm that you trust God, but they are also statements of how much you trust God. The Bible says, “According to your faith let it be done to you” (Matthew 9:29b NLT).

This means that no goal is really a goal by default. In other words, if you don’t set a goal, you’ve already set it, and the goal is to stay the same.

See how this works:

  • When I ask you, “What’s your goal for your health,” and you say, “I don’t have one,” then your goal is to stay the same.
  • When I ask you, “What’s your goal in your relationships,” and you say, “I don’t have one,” then your goal is for them not to get any better.
  • When I ask you, “What’s your goal for your finances and getting out of debt,” and you say, “I don’t have one,” then your goal is to stay in debt.
  • When I ask you, “What’s your goal for your business career, and you say, “I don’t have one,” then your goal is to just drift along.

That’s why the Bible teaches us to have goals. They are a spiritual discipline. They challenge our faith. They develop our character, and they build our hope.

Talk It Over

  • How do your goals reveal how much you trust God to do big things in your life?
  • In what area have you neglected to set a goal?
  • What goal will you set today so that you are continually growing in every area of your life?

Goals that Glorify God ( by Fenny West)

all things are urs1

Goals that glorify God

Centre on His glory

And are anchored on the word

And put first, intimacy.

Intimacy with God is gold.

Need to be first goal;

Making it better;

Making it stronger;

Making it sweeter;

Making it deeper.

Then comes serving others.

Why? We need each other

To go on further,

Rise higher and higher;

Make our lives richer.

Jesus gave the pattern:

Love your God

With all your heart

With all your soul

And with all your might.

Love others as yourself.

1     “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

5     “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

9     “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

Deut6:5

15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Josh24:15

10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

12   Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Phil3:10-14

4     One thing I have desired of the LORD,

     That will I seek:

     That I may dwell in the house of the LORD

     All the days of my life,

     To behold the beauty of the LORD,

     And to inquire in His temple.

5     For in the time of trouble

     He shall hide me in His pavilion;

     In the secret place of His tabernacle

     He shall hide me;

     He shall set me high upon a rock.

Ps27:4-5

1     How lovely is Your tabernacle,

     O LORD of hosts!

2     My soul longs, yes, even faints

     For the courts of the LORD;

     My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

3     Even the sparrow has found a home,

     And the swallow a nest for herself,

     Where she may lay her young —

     Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts,

     My King and my God.

4     Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;

     They will still be praising You. Selah

5     Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,

     Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.

6     As they pass through the Valley of Baca,

     They make it a spring;Ps8:1-6

1     O God, You are my God;

     Early will I seek You;

     My soul thirsts for You;

     My flesh longs for You

     In a dry and thirsty land

     Where there is no water.

2     So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,

     To see Your power and Your glory.

3     Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,

     My lips shall praise You.Ps63:1-3

10   The days of our lives are seventy years;

     And if by reason of strength they are eighty years,

     Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow;

     For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

11   Who knows the power of Your anger?

     For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.

12   So teach us to number our days,

     That we may gain a heart of wisdom. Ps90:10-12

Goals Give a Go! ( by Fenny West)

Godly goals and  New Year Resolutions are have a world of difference

in one case you are planning with His presence which makes the difference

In the other, you are depending on yourself which not very wise.

Lord, in this coming year help me to do it wisely.

In Jesus’ Name

I Woke up One Morning

I Woke Up One Morning

sunrise

I woke up one morning

And heard many voices;

Everything around me

Giving their wise counsel

On how to succeed in life.

Looking at the fan, it said,

“ Be cool, and cool-headed

 and you will surely go far.”

Then I looked at the roof

and it said, ‘Aim high

and you will not fall below the roof.’

Then my attention was drawn to the window

Which said,” Look beyond yourself

and you will see the world-bigger picture

and that will secure your future.

 Let your dreams be big.”

Then the clock chimed,

And whispered, “Maximize every moment

Everyday is encrusted with 24 golden hours.”

Before the clock finished, the mirror interrupted

And caught my attention: “Reflect before you act.

Reflect before you speak. ‘Life and death

Are in the power of the tongue.’ Reflect your Maker.

You’re the light of the world, City on a Hill,

salt of the earth, partaker of the divine nature,

created in the image of God.”

Then the calendar butted in, ‘Plan if you want to pass,

Because if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Have godly goals and pursue your goals with zest.

Put God first in your plan and you will not come last. Learn from your past but don’t let it define you. Look ahead with Confidence because if God be for you, no one can be against you.’

As I was about to get up, the bed spoke, “if you lie for too long poverty will come like an armed bandit.” That jolted me!

Before I got near the door, it began to give its counsel, ‘If you’re on a hinge, you may swing in and out but you will not get anywhere like me. However, learn to open doors for others and others will open doors for you, because what you sow, you reap. Remember Joseph who interpreted the dream for the butler. In the fullness of time, the butler remembered him and he was brought out of jail to become a Prime Minister in a foreign land.’

Then the carpet invited me to go on my knees and begin the day with prayer:

“Lord, be in my mind and in my thinking,

Lord, be in my mouth and in my speaking.

Lord, be in my feet and in my going.

Lord, be in my eyes and in my looking

Lord, be in my hands and in my doing.

Lord, be in my heart and in my loving.

Lord, be in my ears and in my hearing

Lord, be at my end and my departure.”
