Make full use of all your inheritance in Christ (Eph1:3,6, Acts20:32) Advocacy of My Spirit belongs to you (Rom8:26,28) You have to be ever filled with the Holy Spirit (Eph 5:18)
Make sure You are strong in Me and in My mighty power (Eph6:10) Abide in Me and let My Word abide in you You can then ask anything and it shall be (John15:7,1,Matt.7:7,Phil 4:6-7)
Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him from them all Anyone who puts their trust in God shall not be put to shame You must stand your ground against the wiles of the enemy (Eph6:10-11, Jer17:7-8, Ps34:19)
11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a piece of ground full of lentils. So the people fled from the Philistines.
12 But he stationed himself in the middle of the field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the LORD brought about a great victory.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.
Salvation is so simple, but many miss it, thinking it is religion. Religion is hinged on doing this or that or not doing something to recommend you to God. In other words, it is based on your righteousness. This is man’s attempt to reach God. But it’s futile. No one can save themselves. We are told that all our righteousness is as filthy rags. There is none righteous, not even one. All we have sinned and gone astray. All we need to do is to come as we are. Salvation is a done deal. Jesus has completed the work when died on Calvary’s Cross and said “It is Finished.” So to be saved, all you need to is as simple as, A, B, C! A: Acknowledge that you cannot save yourself by your efforts. B: Believe that only Jesus can save you-not religion, but a relationship with Him. C: Confess with your mouth, that He died for you and was raised to give you a New Life.
By faith, invite Him to take His rightful place-in your heart. Thank Him for saving you.
Prayer of salvation
Heavenly Father I come to You today as I am. I believe that only Jesus can save me. I cannot save myself by what I do or do not do. I repent of my sins and invite Christ to take His rightful place on the throne of my heart. I confess that Jesus is my Saviour and my Lord. He died to reconcile me to God. And today I receive the free gift of salvation. Thank You for saving me. I am born again. I am a New Creation. Old things have passed away and all things have become new. My name is written in the Book of Life. Heaven is my home. I am accepted in the Beloved. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah!
Read the following scriptures : Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23 Romans 10:9-10,13 John3:3,5,8,John6:37, John 3:16,John1:12 1John5:11-12 2 Corinthians 5:17
Now, if you prayed that prayer from your heart, please let me know, so that I can send you materials to enable to be grounded in your faith. I would also like to be praying for you.
I have completed the task- The reason why I came. I came to bridge the gap Between man and God. The Father longed for this. Who would go for us? He asked “Here I am send Me,” I responded.
In the Fullness of time I came A body He prepared for me. I was conceived of the Holy Spirit. Born of a virgin; born in a barn, born in a manger I knew why I came And nothing would dissuade Me. I was marred beyond recognition. Yet I carried on till the end. It was a sacrifice once and for all. The price was fully paid For whosoever will come to Me.
Remission of sin is available. Reconciliation is available
Fellowship with God is available
New Creation is available
Eternal life- Zoe- is Available The middle wall of partition was broken down. The curtain was torn from top to bottom. Mankind can now fellowship with God. Because It is Finished! Again I say, It is Finished!! It is Finished!!!
30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:30
Fear is a spirit. It is not of God. That is why it is said that there are 365 “Fear-Nots” in the Word of God- one for each day of the year.
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
(2 Tim 1:7
There will be many opportunities to fear in life in regard to your finances, relationships, health, ministry, career etc etc. But you must realise that God has a good plan for you and does not want you to fear ( Jer 29:11). Fear undermines God’s ability and releases the ability of Satan. When you fear, you are saying, Satan is more powerful than God. That is why we are told: “Have faith in God.” (Mark 11:23)
Without faith it is impossible to please God. Notice it did not say without prayer it is impossible to please God which means the easiest way to displease God is being afraid.(Heb11:6)
You become afraid when you forget or do not know who you are in Christ, what you have going for you or Whose you are. You need to constantly affirm what Christ has done for you regardless of what you see or feel or hear around you.
However, if you do not know Christ as your Lord and Saviour, your confidence will be shallow and on a shaky ground. You cannot enjoy the confidence and joy of a believer who knows whom he or she serves. If so go to this link and surrender your life to Him and be assured of His covering.
So come with me let us affirm the word of God together.
32 “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. (Acts 20:32)
God’s Word will build you up, encourage you, stabilise you, show you your inheritance in Christ. God’s Word will shine light on your path to know what to do when other are running scared and running helter -skelter. God’s word will cause you to go boldly into the throne of grace to obtain mercy and grace to help in time of need. The entrance of God’s Word brings illumination, direction and solution.(Ps 119 :105,130)
Gideon was hiding from the Midianites because of a period of subjugation they had suffered in their hands. At this point God sent an angel to him to encourage him. Despite his fear and trepidation, God saw him differently. He called him a mighty man of valour. (Judges 6:12 ) You must realise that one with God is majority. If God be for you who can be against you? (Rom 8:31)In Christ you are more than a conqueror ( Rom 8:37). Therefor neither death nor life nor angels , nor principalities nor powers nor height nor depth is able to separate you from the love of Christ. ( Rom8:39)
So let the sea roar and be carried into the midst of the sea. Let there be a tumult and a cacophony, agitation a roar from the elements, keep your eyes on Jesus. Maintain your confession of who you are what you have and Whose you are.(Ps46)
Whatever the adversity is, remind yourself that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Affirm your faith always, no matter what. ( 1 John 4:4)
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith. (1 John 5:4)
Use these scripture and personalise them in prayer:
“God is my refuse and my fortress, my ever-present help in trouble. Though the mountains be moved and carried into the midst of the seas, I shall not be moved. I know whom I serve and whom I have believed. Though there be a conflagration, quaking, tumult, great noise, I will be still and know that the Lord He is God.
“He will make my wars to cease and burn the chariots of my enemies in His fire. His Word for me today is : ‘Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted amongst your adversaries and adversities.’ (Ps46)
“God is working everything together for my good.
“My light affliction, which is just for the moment, is working for me, a far more exceeding weight of eternal glory. Therefore, I will not focus on the things which are seen but the things which are unseen, knowing that the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are unseen are eternal.” (2 Cor 4:16-17)
Declare: “He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Because I dwell in the secret place of the Most High, I abide under that shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.”
“Surely, He will save me from the fowler’s snare and the deadly pestilence. His faithfulness will be my shield and my buckler. I will not be afraid of the terror by night or the arrow that flies by day or the destruction that wastes a noonday. A thousand may fall at my side, ten thousand at my right, but the evil will not come near my dwelling.”Ps91
Affirm that God has given you His angels to protect you in all your ways:
“Thank you , Father that you said you have given me your angles as ministering spirits for those who are heirs of salvation ( Heb 1:14). The angel of the Lord encamp around those who fear Him (Ps 34 :7). He shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all of your ways, they will lift you up so that you do not dash your feet against a stone (Ps 91:11). Thank you, Lord, for the protection from your angels.
Remind yourself how He used angels to rescue Peter from the prison (Acts 12:5-11) Remind yourself how He used angles to rescue the believers who were imprisoned and told them to go and preach.
( Acts 5:17-25 )
Remind yourself how he opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant to see the multitude of angels and chariots of fire surrounding them amidst the threat of their enemies. (2 Ki 6 :14-17)
Remind yourself how He rescued the Israelites, who were sandwiched between the Red Sea and their enemies, in hot pursuit. He remains the same. This is the God you serve.
14 Therefore he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city.
15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”
16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
17 And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
2 Kings 6:14-17
David said, yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For thou art with me and thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. You prepare a table for me, in the presence of my enemies… This is what you should expect in the midst of trouble and calamity…Ps23:4
Express confidence in the God you serve. Say what God said about you and about Himself:
For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
6 So we may boldly say: ” The LORDis my helper;I will not fear. What can man do to me?”Heb 13:5-6
Do not focus on the adverse circumstances. Focus on the power of God to save and deliver and preserve.
Have a Godly perspective like Paul. Despite the testimonies of the Holy Spirit about what he would suffer if he went to Jerusalem to preach, Paul was undaunted, unmoved, desiring to finish the work God gave him to do rather than shrink in fear.
22 And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, 23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. 24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
Thank God for His protection, provision and presence, no matter what you see or what people say. Know that you are not ordinary. You are the apple of God’s eyes.
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
” Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. Isa43:1-2
“Have faith in God. Mark 11:23
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
Psalms 27: An Exuberant Declaration of Faith A Psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident.
5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.
6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.
See God as your light and your salvation. And see the circumstances that have risen against you, stumbling and falling before you.
See yourself hiding away high upon a rock where your enemies cannot find you or harm you.
Declare your victory before you see it. In fact see your victory in the spirit realm. Say to yourself:” Thanks be to God who always gives me perpetual victories. I am strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. I am strengthened with might in my inner being. No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper and every tongue that rises against me in judgement I condemn. When the enemy comes like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will raise a standard against him. I am far from oppression, or contamination or suppression or subjugation or dominion. The Greater One indwells me and puts me over. I have great faith in the keeping power of my God. Christ in me, my hope of glory. ( Col 1:27, 1 John 4:4)
13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.
14 The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
15 And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.
16 But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. Ex 14:13-16
Notice, God told the Israelites to go forward despite the Red Sea before them and He told Moses to stretch forth the rod in his hands over the sea. What does that tell us? Regardless of what may have confronted you, there is something you have in you that you can use to counteract it and part the Red Sea for you to walk on dry ground. If you are not sure what it is, then ask your Maker and He will show you by His Spirit.
Relationship is a connection, kinship, affinity, association, a link between you and other people. There is the family relationship (blood-relationship) base on being born to the same parents or belonging to a family through adoption; or it could be a friendship relationship or school relationship (alma-mater- relationship) between those who attended the same school or relationship arising from attending the same Church or club or profession or as work colleagues etc. There are myriads of possible relationships. Also in a general sense, every creature has a creature/ Creator relationship with God. Pastor Tunde Ogedemgbe defines relationship as ‘the foundation of all identities. From our identities we get our affirmation, feelings of self-worth and self esteem. However whenever our relationship goes sour, it likewise affects our self-worth self esteem and sense of importance. Above all relationships is our relationship with God from which we derive our eternal identity.’
I quite agree that the most important relationship is our relationship with God which goes beyond the Creator / creature relationship to one base on being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, when we acknowledge that we are sinners and hence rebels and enemies of God and repent. This relationship with God will affect all other relationships and put them on sound footing if we invite God into those relationships.
Tenure of Relationships
Not all relationships are permanent or should be made permanent. We need to know when to end a relationship or when to accept that a relationship is over. Not everyone is meant for your ‘boat’. Some people are assigned to you for a short period of time, others for a longer period and yet others permanently. You need the wisdom of God to be able to differentiate these categories of people otherwise you may frustrate yourself holding on to people who have finished their assignment with and for you. There are others that you need to fight for because they belong to your boat and are being stolen from you or are deceived into leaving. However, you can only do this by prayer and often by prayer and fasting. There are others who will come into your ‘boat’ who may be attractive but do not belong there. You need to have the courage and the integrity of looking beyond the seen and praying them away rather than pricing them away or fighting with them to go away. The prodigal son had a relationship with his father but that relationship was broken when he felt he was old enough to handle life and wanted his inheritance which he took and left home for a far country. When he left home, he retained his relationship but the fellowship was broken. In the far country he had various relationships which were tenuous and flimsy. He had fair weather friends who perched when the money was flowing and flew when the bank went burst. On the other hand, the elder brother who had not left home did not have much fellowship with his father and that was why he did not know what he was entitled to, just as most of us because of lack of fellowship with the father, do not know who we are in Christ and what we have in Him.
28 “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. 29 So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. 30 But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’ 31 “And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. 32 It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’ ” Luke15:28-32
Barriers to fellowship
In our relationship with God sin breaks the fellowship, causes a chasm, introduces separation, darkness, alienation, estrangement, isolation, loss of joy and fear. Before Adam sinned, he had sweet fellowship with God. He was comfortable with the presence of God. However when he sinned he lost his innocence and stated to hide from God because he was afraid. The same happens to us when we sin against God. Prayer becomes difficult and so is Church attendance and the peace of God goes out the window. 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”Gen3:6-11 The Spirit of the age, like spirit of independence and isolation,( ‘I have need of nothing’ syndrome ) spirit of apathy (lukewarmness), lust of the eye , lust of the flesh and the pride of life(1John2:15-16) Sin undermines every relationship. When you become selfish your relationship suffers.
Communication and Fellowship
Communication is a major barrier to any relationship and lack of communication is because of lack of love. Communication takes various forms. You can communicate without speaking but you cannot have a good fellowship without speaking. So we are looking at effective communication. Culture can be a big: tradition, things people from a nationality do: the way people talk, dress, what they eat, all their socially acceptable behaviour. When we understand these differences in culture and accommodate them, we open up the opportunity for strong positive relationships. Every strong relationship underlined by fellowship and communication takes a lot of work and investment, give and take, perseverance and acceptance or tolerance. Restoring Fellowship No strong relationship happens without challenges, struggles, storms, and misunderstandings. We are all different and would see things differently many times on various issues. For us to have a strong relationship we would need to focus more on the things that unite us than on those that disunite us. We must learn to see the good in the other person, their strengths more than their weaknesses. We need to see them through the eyes of God. This is why a relationship with God is so important else you would relate with people for the wrong reasons and when that basis is eroded the relationship is over. Being able to forgiveness or saying ‘I am sorry’ is essential in restoring any fellowship. In our relationship with God, because of our human nature we will sin from time to time and the way back is by repenting, asking for forgiveness and receiving the forgiveness. It is one thing to ask for forgiveness, it is another thing to accept that you have been forgiven, by faith.
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.(John1:7-9) We also need to forgive one another we sin against each other otherwise God will not forgive us. 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Unforgiveness will hinder our prayers and our faith and our future: 25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.”
Have you ever wondered why it is written: ‘forgive us our sins as we forgive others their trespasses against us?’ It means if someone has wrong us and we forgive them partially (say 30%) and we are asking God forgiveness for our sins we are asking god also to forgive us 30% of our sins. And sins we know that God does not tolerate any % of sin we need to forgive totally.
21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. Matt18:21-22
12 Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.Prov10:12 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails.
Let us pray:
Father, may I realise that my relationship with you is paramount. Help me, My God to cherish this relationship and avoid anything that would undermine it. Teach me the essence of fellowship with you on a regular basis so that I can grow and glow in grace to your glory. Bring me ,O God, to the place where my heart’s cry would be: ‘1 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God….Ps42:1-2 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,’Phil3:10 Open my eyes to see through my relationships with people and to know which ones to maintain and nurture and which ones to extricate myself from in the light of my destiny. Illuminate my eyes mighty God to know those you have assigned to my both and how I should order my relationship healthily with them without undermining my relationship with You. Grant me the wisdom, My God, not to hold on to those whom you have sent on a specific assignment to my life for a specific time. Teach me to look to Jesus always- the Author and finisher of my faith. Thank You for forgiving me my sins. Help me to forgive others their sins and accept them as you have accepted me in the beloved. Teach me how to oil the engine of my intimacy with you and others you have called me to serve, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
