Why Witness?
- We have been commanded to do so.
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15:NIV
2. We have the Authority
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt. 28:18-20
1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. Matt.10:10
3. We were saved to save others.
21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord’s. Obad.1:21
4 We are called to be fishers of men.
19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matt.4:19
5Those who have found bread and like the 4 lepers, should not keep it to ourselves. It is selfish to keep the gospel to ourselves.
9 Then they said one to another, “We do not what is right. This day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace. If we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us. Now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.”
10 So they came and called unto the gatekeepers of the city; and they told them, saying, “We came to the camp of the Syrians, and behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied and asses tied and the tents as they were.”
11 And he called the gatekeepers, and they told it to the king’s house within.
2Kings. 7:9-11
6 That is the primary purpose of God and we should all have that primary purpose as imitators of God. Eph5:1, 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
2 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and please God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be save and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 1Tim1:15-16
5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. 1Tim.2:5-6
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free, Luke 4:18
7 We are God’s Epistles.
3 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
2 Cor.3:3
8 We need to follow the Master’s footsteps.
1 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children Eph.5:1,
9 We are co-workers with God.
9 For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. 1Cor.3:9
10. We are His hands and feet and voice.
30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. Eph.5:30
11. We all have a Ministry of Reconciliation
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 2Cor.5:18
12. We are His Ambassadors.
20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2Cor. 5:20
13. We are able ministers. He qualified us. We are sufficient in Him.
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,
6 He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2Cor.3:5, 6
14. He who wins soul is wise.
3 Those who are wise[a] will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. Dan.12:3,
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
and the one who is wise saves lives. Prov.11:30
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.
Prov.11:30
15. The more we witness, the stronger we will be.
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. Acts2:14-41,
16. We have been empowered to do so. We have no excuse.
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
17. We need not be ashamed of the Gospel.
The Just Live by Faith
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Pray that you would be a willing vessel for the Holy Spirit to accomplish His work.
18. We have the Holy Spirit to help us.
1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. Matt.10:10
John 14:16–17, 26: [Jesus said,] “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. . . . The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
12 For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” Luke12:12
19. Angels rejoice when a sinner repents and is added to God’s family.
7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.
The Parable of the Lost Coin
8 “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?
9 And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’
10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Luke 15:7-10
20. There is a great joy that wells up in you when you have led someone to salvation.
21. We need to redeem the time. The day is far spent..
4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
John 9:4 The day is far spent…
Walk in Wisdom
15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,
16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Eph.5:15-17,
Make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
22. You are the light of the world, salt of the earth and city on a hill.
Believers Are Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matt.5:13-16
23 The fields are white and harvest plentiful but the labourers are few.
6 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.
37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Matt 9:35-38
24. We are King-priests called to represent God to the Nations. Ex 19:4-6,
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;1Pet.2:9
25 We have a great responsibility to warn others of impending danger.
3 when he sees the sword coming upon the land, if he blows the trumpet and warns the people,
4 then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet and does not take warning, if the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall be on his own head.
5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, but did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But he who takes warning will save his life.
6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.’
Ezek 33:3-6,3:17
“The Bible says “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord” (Romans 12:11). To be a burning and a shining light means you’re fervent, agile and enthusiastic about spiritual things. From sun up to sun down, the Gospel is paramount on your mind. It’s impossible for you to keep quiet; all you think and talk about is world evangelism. It brings to mind the words of the Prophet Jeremiah: “But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay” (Jeremiah 20:9).”
