Light out of Darkness ( by Fenny West)

Light Out of Darkness

6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness , who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Light Out of Darkness. It sounds a misnomer-
an oxymoron. But it’s God’s specialty, winter or summer.

Light out of darkness is so easy for our God regardless of the issue.
It’s covered by the Word.

Light out of darkness when you walk through dark vales
Is sure because of His faithfulness. You will not trail but assail.

Israel was sandwiched between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army.

It was a zero hour. Some thought it was all over. But God made a way in the river.
He made an express way in the sea. They walked through on dry ground.

He turned it into a power hour. What a light from the night! Light came out of darkness.

Israel faced Goliath of Gath. He taunted them, humiliated them.

They quaked in their boots; trembled with trepidation

He darkened their day. They saw red, misery, woe and demise.

But when David arrived, he saw differently. He saw an uncircumcised Philistine.

He saw one helpless before God. He saw a cause to rise up for.

He saw the faithfulness of God in behalf of those who trust Him.

He saw Goliath fallen down flat and his head cut off.

He saw God fighting for His people.

David stepped out in faith and brought light out of darkness.

Goliath was felled and his head cut off. And Israel triumphed over her foes.

Saul of Tarsus wreaked havoc on the Church, obtaining warrants and dragging believers, whose family screamed in anguish. He supervised the stoning and martyr of Stephen. He was the personification of thick darkness on this Day of fierce persecution. (Acts8:1-2,-9:1-10)

One day on the road to Damascus, Jesus met with Saul of Tarsus and converted the foe into a Saint. The threat to the Church became a trophy in the hand of God and was mightily used to build churches, raise other ministers and led many to salvation. This is how God brings light out of darkness.

Even in the life of Paul we see persecution and suffering on many occasions. Some of these were indeed dark days. But out of the darkness God brought forth light as He used Paul to bring many revelations and truths to the Church- who we are and what we have in Christ. (2Cor11-12:8)

Joseph, after a grandiose dream of greatness at a young age, experienced thick darkness that lasted many years. He was sold into slavery, ended up in Egypt in Potiphar’s house as his servant and then in prison after being falsely accused of violating his wife. What darkness! (Gen.39)

But out of this darkness, God brought forth light, when Joseph, after interpreting the dream of Pharaoh, was made the Prime Minister in a foreign land. (Gen. 41)

Again in the early Church era, James was executed by Herod. And when he saw that the people where happy about it, he arrested Peter and imprisoned him with an intent of killing him too. Whilst Peter was in prison, the Church interceded for him and God intervened by sending an angel to deliver him. This was light amidst darkness. Peter was led out of that prison unknown to all the soldiers that guarded him. Even the Iron Gate opened of its own accord. (Acts.12)

In Philippi, Paul and Silas went to proclaim the good news. They even delivered a woman from the clutches of evil spirits. Her mentors seized Paul and falsely accused him and his associate, Silas. This led to their being brutalized and beaten with rods. Their hands and feet were in strait jackets and they were thrown into a dungeon.

However at midnight they began to pray and praise their God. He so enjoyed their praise that he sent an earthquake that rocked the foundation of the prison and set them free. Besides, the prison warden and his household were saved and baptized. This was nothing but Light coming from darkness. ( Acts 16: 23-32)

10 “Who among you fears the Lord?  Who obeys the voice of His Servant?  Who walks in darkness  And has no light?  Let him trust in the name of the Lord  And rely upon his God.
Isa 50:10

This is what our God can do regardless of the darkness you may find yourself. It does not matter what it is, He can. He can turn any hopeless situation around, if you will trust Him. He is able to do exceeding abundantly, far above your wildest dream. Those who put their trust in Him shall not be put to shame. Call upon Him and He will answer you. Acknowledge His goodness, His faithfulness, His power and you will see the incredible, the miraculous and the supernatural.
