Instruction is Your Life

In our walk of faith we need to pay attention to what we are told and obey specific instructions if we are to obtain the results we desire. Often times some of us have obey the word given to us in our own way and have found ourselves in limbo  saying we are waiting on God but then God is saying He is waiting on us. Or we have been frustrated by the lack of result after obeying the word we heard or demonstrating a faith response.

When that happens we need to examine ourselves properly. Whereas in some cases the trimming of the manifestation has its place, we need to ensure that we have obeyed the instruction we received specifically- I mean to the letter to ensure that our faith is not derailed or disappointed.

“See! I have given Jericho into your hand, its king, and the mighty men of valor.3 You shall march around the city, all you men of war; you shall go all around the city once. This you shall do six days.4 And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark. But the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets.5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall down flat.

Josh6:2-5

The children of Israel were given a strategic word for entering Jericho- the first of the Promised Land. They were specifically told to march round the city once every day for six days and quietly, with singers in front, and on the seventh day march round it seven times and blow the trumpet, shouting the Lord has given you the city. Josh6-

Imagine if they did it for 5 days and marched round seven times… would the city have fallen? No.

Imagine if they marched round once daily for six days and on the seventh day marched round it six times. Would the wall have fallen down? No.

They had to obey the instruction to the letter then the walls fell down flat and they went in and conquered the City. (Joshua 6)

6      Then Joshua the son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD.”7 And he said to the people, “Proceed, and march around the city, and let him who is armed advance before the ark of the LORD.”

8      So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the LORD advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.9 The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.10 Now Joshua had commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout or make any noise with your voice, nor shall a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I say to you, ‘Shout!’ Then you shall shout.”11 So he had the ark of the LORD circle the city, going around it once. Then they came into the camp and lodged in the camp.

12   And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.13 Then seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually and blew with the trumpets. And the armed men went before them. But the rear guard came after the ark of the LORD, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets.14 And the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. So they did six days.

15   But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times.16 And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: “Shout, for the LORD has given you the city!17 Now the city shall be doomed by the LORD to destruction, it and all who are in it. Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.18 And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.19 But all the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, are consecrated to the LORD; they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.”Josh6:6-19

20           So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat.Josh6:

Naaman was told to go and dip in the river Jordan seven times. If he had only dipped six times he would not have had his miracle. But when he did, on the seventh time he came out with a skin like that of a baby- more than he bargained for.10  And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.”)

14 So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. (2Kings5:10,14

When Judah and King Jehoshapat were instructed to go out against their enemies that outnumbered them 100: 1, they obeyed and went and sang praises to God as they went. The word says: “22       Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

24   So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.

25           When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much.”2Chro20:22-25

They obeyed the word specifically and God not only protected them but he also provided for them far above what they can ask or think or even dream of.
