The Grace of Giving is Given to All ( by Fenny West)

The Grace of Giving is Given to All

What you do with it makes you poor or rich

Some out of poverty make others rich

As they pour out their lives to others

They go out weeping carrying seed to sow

And so they doubtless return with great harvest.

They are distribution centres, channels of blessing

They know they were blessed to be a blessing

And so they succeed in every endeavour.

They are good stewards, who can be trusted.

They are God’s hands and His feet on earth.

Their giving triggers hundred-fold returns.

As they open their hands to him He pours more and more

And they see His face and empowerment day by day.

As they give to the Lord, in comes 100 fold returns.

Find God’s Mind for You ( by Fenny West)

Find out God’s Mind Towards You

Find out God’s mind towards you. Focus on His thoughts and plans. Know the difference between facts and truth. Know that if God is for you no one can be against you. Obstacles will turn out to be triggers for triumph. Opposition will turn out to be pillars and platforms for your promotion, because His thoughts towards you are not evil. And regardless of the ploys and diabolical strategies of the devil, as you fix your eyes on Jesus-the Author and Finisher of your faith-you will come out victorious. Yes, troubles do come; they come to all and sundry. Man’s days are full of trouble. But He delivers him from them all. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. That should be the mind-set of a child of God. “God is for me. He has good plans for me. My enemies will not triumph over me. The will of God will prevail. Angels are on assignment on my behalf. All things are working together for my good. My light affliction, which is just for a moment, are working for me, an exceeding weight of eternal glory. They are partners for my progress and upward mobility.”

Joseph’s opposition caused him to dream some more. So when you’re opposed, say,” I will keep on dreaming big dreams.” Joseph’s pit experience and being sold into slavery were ladders for the fulfilment of God’s purpose for his life. His brothers meant it for evil but God meant it for good, to save many in the Day of Severe Famine in Egypt. He saw the end from the beginning and allowed the injustice to prepare Joseph for his ministry

He had given a promise to Abraham and His word will not fall to the ground:

13    And He said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14    And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance. Gen15:13-14

Because, Jacob, had either forgotten this promised or prophetic word, or was not told, he panicked and despaired when Simeon was held in Egypt and they wanted to take Benjamin. 36    And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: all these things are against me. You and I will also come to this place in life at various times-whether in relation to our relationships, finance, ministry, health, business etc where, looking at it naturally it will seem as if everything is against you. This is when you need to go back to the promises of God that are ‘yes and amen in Christ Jesus.’ If it was a prophecy, take it back to God and stand your ground. Say, “Lord, You said…” and you are not a man that you should lie. If you do not have a specific word, at least know the will of God as revealed in His word. The word of God is the will of God and the will of God is the word of God. Pray in the spirit and let Him quicken His word for you. Pray with the spirit and you will be praying in line with God’s perfect will. Let the Holy Spirit unveil to you His mind for you.

9     But as it is written:

” Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man

The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

10   But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

1Cor2:9-12

Know that the enemy of your soul wants you to doubt God so as to prevent you from obtaining the promise. Doubts and unbelief can short-change us.

We have our path to play even if God has made a promise to us. If we keep speaking doubt and defeat, we are taking sides with the devil and calling God a liar.

6    But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For He that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7    For let not that man think that He shall receive any thing of the Lord. James1:6-7

So we can be our own worst enemies when we agree with negativities and seeds of doubt that satan sows in our minds. It is a bait of satan and once you bite the bait you’re ensnared, caught and imprisoned by the words of your mouth.

Why not start speaking God’s word of His grace that is able to establish you and build you up and give you an inheritance amongst those who are sanctified. Start speaking the word of life that will bring life back to your life, your vision, dreams and God-given purpose. Regardless of the obstacles, say to yourself: “I know whom I serve. I know whom I have believed. It shall be to me as He said unto me.” Remember, 6    But without faith it is impossible to please him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Heb11:6 In Num13 the ten spies who brought a negative report to the camp courted God’s displeasure and anger. But Joshua and Caleb were of a different spirit. They held on to the mind of God regardless of the giants they saw. Others focused on the giants (obstacles, difficulties, walls, challenges). They minimised the goodness of God and the little mercies they saw-giant grapes that were so huge that it required two people to carry.  They maximised the problems, obstacles, difficulties and barriers. They saw themselves as grasshoppers in their eyes and in the eyes of the giants. They had faith to imagine the -worst and even seeing through the eyes of the giants but could not see through the eyes of God. “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.”

30   Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”

31   But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.”32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature.33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

Numbers13:27-33

On the contrary Caleb and Joshua said “they are our bread.” We are able. If the Lord delights in us, He will bring us into the land and give it to us the land. Only do not rebel against the Lord.”

6     But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;7 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land.8 If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’9 Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them.”

Number14:6-9

This is how God wants you to speak when you see those “giants in your land, in your mind’s eye”, say, “I am able to drive them out. Through my God I can do valiantly. All things are working together for my good. If God be for me, who can be against me? I am more than a conqueror. God is working in me, both to will and to do according to His good pleasure. He will fight for me and will hold my peace. All things are working together for my good. Every place that the soles of my feet shall tread belongs to me. I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living-in my life time. No weapon fashioned against me shall prosper. I am an overcomer and have overcome them. If God did not withhold Jesus, but delivered Him to die for me, how will He not, even with Him, freely give me all things?” The kingdom of God suffers violence, but the violent take it by force.

Stand your ground. Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the whole armour of God as to stand in the evil day. There are more with you than are against you. Speak in agreement in consonance, in sync and in agreement with God and angels will be galvanised into action on your behalf.

Guard your heart diligently. For out of it are the forces of life. Cast down every imagination that is contrary to the revealed will of God. Don’t work against yourself with your mouth. Renew your mind with the word. Spend more time in the word and in prayer. Avoid association with people who do not have the mind of Christ.

33    Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 1Cor15:33

Birds of the same feathers flock together. Iron sharpeneth iron. Fellowship with people who will give you godly counsel –not worldly ungodly counsel.

1    Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Ps1:1

Do not say “everything is working against me,” like Jacob. That is a lie from the pit of hell. Do not say “I am a grasshopper.” Grasshoppers don’t eat grapes. Do not say, like Naomi, “Call me Marah.”

20    And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. Ruth1:20

Yes, calamity struck. She had misfortunes but that was not the end of the story. But for the faith of Ruth and the mercies of God her words and attitude would have stopped the great blessing of God and mind-blowing turning of the table. We know how the story ended. The foreigner was grafted into the lineage of Christ and Ruth was married to a billionaire of her time and one of the finest gentlemen-Boaz. So think God’s thoughts towards you. Where do you find His thoughts?

You find His thoughts in His word. That goes without saying. And unless you know His word, you will not know His thoughts.

11    For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jer29:11

8    For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9    For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isa55:11

So, my friend, cast down every imagination and thought contrary to God’s word. Say to yourself, “If God said it, I believe it and that settles it, regardless of how I feel or what people say. As for me -my spirit, soul and body, I will take sides with God. God has a good plan for me. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For God is with me and in me and for me. He will enable me leap over walls, run through troops, and maul any Goliath or giants. If I go through the fire, like Daniel’s friends, it will only refine me to grow and glow brighter and become better and not bitter.  God will not leave me in the fire, even one second more than is necessary.  When He sees His glory reflected in me, He will bring me out like He did Daniel’s friends.  I trust in His faithfulness and wisdom.  He will not allow me to be tempted above what I can bear, but will, with the temptation, also make a way of escape that I will be able to bear. “

“Will ye also go away?”
John 6:67

Many have forsaken Christ, and have walked no more with him; but what reason have you to make a change? Has there been any reason for it in the past? Has not Jesus proved himself all-sufficient? He appeals to you this morning–“Have I been a wilderness unto you?” When your soul has simply trusted Jesus, have you ever been confounded? Have you not up till now found your Lord to be a compassionate and generous friend to you, and has not simple faith in him given you all the peace your spirit could desire? Can you so much as dream of a better friend than he has been to you? Then change not the old and tried for new and false. As for the present, can that compel you to leave Christ? When we are hard beset with this world, or with the severer trials within the Church, we find it a most blessed thing to pillow our head upon the bosom of our Saviour. This is the joy we have today that we are saved in him; and if this joy be satisfying, wherefore should we think of changing? Who barters gold for dross? We will not forswear the sun till we find a better light, nor leave our Lord until a brighter lover shall appear; and, since this can never be, we will hold him with a grasp immortal, and bind his name as a seal upon our arm. As for the future, can you suggest anything which can arise that shall render it necessary for you to mutiny, or desert the old flag to serve under another captain? We think not. If life be long–he changes not. If we are poor, what better than to have Christ who can make us rich? When we are sick, what more do we want than Jesus to make our bed in our sickness? When we die, is it not written that “neither death, nor life, nor things present, nor things to come, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord!” We say with Peter, “Lord, to whom shall we go?”

You’re Blessed to Be a Blessing ( by Fenny West)

You Are Blessed to Be a Blessing

Every good and perfect gift comes from above, comes from our Father of Lights.

Being blessed to be a Blessing is God’s plan, purpose, dream, desire, delight and will for us. We are blessed to be a blessing.

Abraham was blessed to be a Blessing When Abraham was called, was told: 2    And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: Gen12:2

He was blessed to be a blessing. For a start, his blessing rubbed off Lot (his nephew) who was associated with him. Our blessings should rub off on others around us. We are empowered to empower others. We are God’s emissaries, His ambassadors, representatives, His hands and feet. And so we need to be very conscious that our blessing is not just for ourselves. We are trustees, stewards and one of the ways we show our stewardship is not increasing it directly but increasing it indirectly by empowering others to be blessed to bless others and let the cycle continue unabated.

We are to be rivers-not dams

We are to give the lives of others a meaning. That is why Jesus called us the salt of the earth, the light of the world and the city on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matt5:14-16). This was why He said we should let our light so shine, that men will see our good works and glorify our father in heaven.

We are to be givers, because it is more blessed to give than to receive. Our love should be evidenced in our willingness to give-not just finances but time, empathy and compassion. That is practical love. And love never fails and it is the greatest. (1Cor13)

9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Gal6:9

Often times we will encounter people who will rub us off the wrong way-repay us evil for the good we have done to them. That can be discouraging. But we must rise up above it and keep doing what God said, and our blessing will continue unabated. We must avoid retaliating because it will stop our blessing. We must see it as a ploy of the enemy to stop our blessing and rise above it.

God sees. God remembers and God rewards, and handsomely too. Whatever you do is a seed sown. So keep sowing good seeds. They will surely sprout and become trees. These trees will bear fruit that will remain; fruit that will be much. The trees will become forests and bear fruit also and your memory will remain.

17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Col3:17

10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. Heb6:10

And Paul encouraged us: 20    Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if He thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21    Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Ro12:20-21

This was why Jesus said, “Love your enemies.”

11        “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Matt5:11-12

We are in a spiritual warfare and the enemy of your soul knows that being a blessing will keep you being blessed continually and so he will try to use someone to make you offended to stop you giving or stop you  being a blessing. Be wise. Do not let him. In fact, increase the good you do rather than reduce it or stop it. That is how you win. That is how you soar like an eagle. You will be like a well-watered garden that never runs dry. You will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in due season. And whatever you do shall prosper.

This is what Bill Gate is all about. After making his name and amassing wealth through his computer technological acumen, he is now using his wealth to help others through the Bill Gate Foundations.

That is God’s dream for me and for you-being blessed to be a blessing. The Dead Sea is dead because it takes without giving. Don’t be a dead sea.

24    There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. Prov11:24

So scatter, share, remain generous, remain liberal; give and it shall be given back to you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over.Luke6:38

29    And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, 30    But He shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Mark10:29-30

Some people sacrifice-give their lives-by leaving the comfort of their homes and immediate family and answer the call to preach the gospel in foreign lands under very difficult circumstances. They are being a blessing-denying themselves and making themselves available to be used of the Lord to bless others. They are fulfilled in what they do, despite the hardships they face. As the scripture says, their labour is not in vain. They will be rewarded even here on earth, apart from their reward in heaven. God is not a man that He should lie. His word shall not fall to the ground.

In Acts 2 and 4 the early Christians demonstrated this liberality and God multiplied what they had such that everyone’s needs were met.  Great grace was evidenced among them because they were generous.

44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. 47Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Acts2:44,45,47

So we see why God moved mightily in the early church so much so that there were signs and wonders, miracles galore and there was a great harvest of souls and they had favour with the people. The secret was their humility, hospitality, flexibility, and generosity.

Their love was tangible for all to see. And that love triggered the mighty move of God.

It can happen in your life and my life and in your church and my church if we go back to basics of being open to God and praying-not just for God to bless us but to use us to bless others. We will begin to see what they saw-signs and wonders and miracles.

God will provide for us, bless our business to expand; and prosperity, healing, deliverance, healthy marriages, barren wombs opening will be common. Those laid off from their jobs will have their own businesses and becoming employers.

Esther was blessed to be a blessing

Esther was a Jew in a foreign land who was catapulted into the palace when a vacancy arose for the position of a queen.  It was a sudden change of status. But God has a purpose in her promotion. He had seen the problem of Harman hating the Jews and plotting to exterminate them and she was the one strategically placed to turn the tide in favour of the people of God. She was blessed to be a blessing. And Mordecai was on hand to remind her of her reason for being; her purpose in life. She saw the light and did what she was called to do despite the risk involved. God honored her commitment, faith and selflessness and used her to save His people.

Nehemiah was blessed to be a blessing

Nehemiah was in a lucrative job, even as a King’s cup-bearer before God burdened him about the broken down walls of Jerusalem. He was willing to make sacrifices to help his people. With that willingness to be used to bless his people, God gave him favour with the King who granted him:

  • Permission

  • Provision and

  • Protection.

He went back home and despite the fierce opposition he face, God gave him men who had a heart to work, pray  and persevere until the task was accomplished in a record time- 52 days.

He can do the same with you and I, if we will be a blessing to our people- wherever they are.

Joseph was blessed to be a blessing

This was the man who had a grandiose dream at a young age and was vehemently opposed by his brothers. They wanted to kill the dream, dumped him into the pit and then sold him into slavery. He ended up in Egypt, where he maintained his integrity and excellence which led to the prosperity of his master. Joseph was directly instrumental to Potiphar’s. And when he was maligned, falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and thrown into prison, he maintained his integrity and excellence and distinction. He stood out in the prison was a blessing to the prison guard and his fellow inmates. And because he was a blessing in the prison, God did not forget him, even though the butler forgot him. In the fullness of time he was brought out and made a Prime Minister in a foreign land.  Later God used him to provide for his brothers who had opposed his dream.

19   Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God?20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.21 Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

Gen50:19-21

You are blessed to be a blessing.

Being blessed to be a blessing is God-will for you and for me. Let us go out and be His hands and feet and be channel of blessing, distribution centres, instruments of peace, dispensers of joy, hope and love. Let’s put paid to selfishness-me, myself and I and embrace selflessness-others first. That is what will make our years count more than the count of our years.
