Believe, Receive and Live

“The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.”-Jeremiah 8:20

Not saved! Dear reader, is this your mournful plight? Warned of the judgment to come, bidden to escape for your life, and yet at this moment not saved! You know the way of salvation, you read it in the Bible, you hear it from the pulpit, it is explained to you by friends, and yet you neglect it, and therefore you are not saved. You will be without excuse when the Lord shall judge the quick and dead. The Holy Spirit has given more or less of blessing upon the word which has been preached in your hearing, and times of refreshing have come from the divine presence, and yet you are without Christ. All these hopeful seasons have come and gone-your summer and your harvest have past-and yet you are not saved. Years have followed one another into eternity, and your last year will soon be here: youth has gone, manhood is going, and yet you are not saved. Let me ask you-will you ever be saved? Is there any likelihood of it? Already the most propitious seasons have left you unsaved; wi ll other occasions alter your condition?
Means have failed with you-the best of means, used perseveringly and with the utmost affection-what more can be done for you? Affliction and prosperity have alike failed to impress you; tears and prayers and sermons have been wasted on your barren heart. Are not the probabilities dead against your ever being saved? Is it not more than likely that you will abide as you are till death for ever bars the door of hope? Do you recoil from the supposition? Yet it is a most reasonable one: he who is not washed in so many waters will in all probability go filthy to his end. The convenient time never has come, why should it ever come? It is logical to fear that it never will arrive, and that Felix like, you will find no convenient season till you are in hell. O bethink you of what that hell is, and of the dread probability that you will soon be cast into it!

Reader, suppose you should die unsaved, your doom no words can picture. Write out your dread estate in tears and blood, talk of it with groans and gnashing of teeth: you will be punished with everlasting destruction from the glory of the Lord, and from the glory of His power. A brother’s voice would fain startle you into earnestness. O be wise, be wise in time, and ere another year begins, believe in Jesus, who is able to save to the uttermost. Consecrate these last hours to lonely thought, and if deep repentance be bred in you, it will be well; and if it lead to a humble faith in Jesus, it will be best of all. O see to it that this year pass not away, and you an unforgiven spirit. Let not the new year’s midnight peals sound upon a joyless spirit! Now, NOW, NOW believe, and live.

“ESCAPE FOR THY LIFE;
LOOK NOT BEHIND THEE,
NEITHER STAY THOU
IN ALL THE PLAIN;
ESCAPE TO THE MOUNTAIN,escape from sodom
LEST THOU BE CONSUMED.”

Looking Back To Look Forward

Looking back …

I see the good Hand of the Lord

Taking me back home

reuniting me with my family

rekindling long-lost intimacy

After a long time away from Rome

Taking a good friend back Home

in a twinkling of an eye, suddenly

God graciously made provision

Befitting the August occasion

Aligning  me with  new people

Allowing new battles and struggles

To show all things are possible

In each phase, threshold and level.

The Most High allowed or orchestrated pains

To bring me into or show me vision of a new gain

He ordered steps into certain difficulties

To show another dimension of possibilities

He brought me to strange undiscovered places

To manifest a new vista of hope and sweet grace.

He enabled me to mourn and from it have a song-

Song of deliverance, song in the night, song of songs.

I see the birth of Sing a New Song

A promise that had lingered long

Looking back, I see His unmerited favour

Where all I had was fruitless, futile labour.

Wow! How some disappointments

Became times of  great appointment

How some moments of rigour

Brought unforgettable humour.

Looking forward

I know He is my Helper, Comforter

Provider, Healer, Shelter, Strengthener

I know He is the Unchanging Changer

The Alpha and the Omega, Author and Finisher.

Great is His faithfulness and  loving kindness

Great His goodness and graciousness

The Glorious, victorious God will remain strong

Whether I am alone or in a throng.

He will continue the good work He has begun

Through Jesus Christ, the Redeemer-His Son.

The road ahead may be foggy, cloudy, hazy

Crooked, twisted, rough, muddy or scary

I know whom I serve and Whom I believe

He remains constant; He does not swerve.

I look forward to new exploits, great in-roads

Into the Promised Land that has been a load

Adamant ants and stubborn giants must flee

Giving way t the will of the Almighty.

He can be trusted during rain or shine

And regardless of the weather, I’ll be fine

Yea, though I walk through the valley

Of the shadow of death, I will look to the Lilly-

Lilly of the Valley, Sweet Rose of Sharon

The Resurrection and the Life, my Sun

He is exceedingly abundantly able

To turn every stumbling wicked tables

Into a sumptuous table of divine delicacies

To show forth the glory of the High and Holy.

Isaiah 41:10 (New King James Version)

10 Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:

“ Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
Isa43:1-2

3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Isa26:3

Isaiah 54:1-3 (King James Version)

Isaiah 54

 1Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.

 2Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;

 3For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

 4Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

 5Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.Ps103:3-5

Psalm 111

Praise to God for His Faithfulness and Justice

1 Praise the LORD!

I will praise the LORD with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.

2 The works of the LORD are great,
Studied by all who have pleasure in them.
3 His work is honorable and glorious,
And His righteousness endures forever.
4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered;
The LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
5 He has given food to those who fear Him;
He will ever be mindful of His covenant.
6 He has declared to His people the power of His works,
In giving them the heritage of the nations.

7 The works of His hands are verity and justice;
All His precepts are sure.
8 They stand fast forever and ever,
And are done in truth and uprightness.
 9 He has sent redemption to His people;
He has commanded His covenant forever:

Holy and awesome is His name.

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.

Psalm 92:4 (New King James Version)

4 For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work;
I will triumph in the works of Your hands.

Hebrews 13:5-6 (New King James Version)

5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say:

“ The LORD is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me? ’Heb 13:5-6

Hitherto Has the Lord Helped Us

***”Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.”-1 Samuel 7:12

The word “hitherto” seems like a hand pointing in the direction of the past. Twenty years or seventy, and yet, “hitherto the Lord hath helped!” Through poverty, through wealth, through sickness, through health, at home, abroad, on the land, on the sea, in honour, in dishonour, in perplexity, in joy, in trial, in triumph, in prayer, in temptation, “hitherto hath the Lord helped us!” We delight to look down a long avenue of trees. It is delightful to gaze from end to end of the long vista, a sort of verdant temple, with its branching pillars and its arches of leaves; even so look down the long aisles of your years, at the green boughs of mercy overhead, and the strong pillars of lovingkindness and faithfulness which bear up your joys. Are there no birds in yonder branches singing? Surely there must be many, and they all sing of mercy received “hitherto.”

But the word also points forward. For when a man gets up to a certain mark and writes “hitherto,” he is not yet at the end, there is still a distance to be traversed. More trials, more joys; more temptations, more triumphs; more prayers, more answers; more toils, more strength; more fights, more victories; and then come sickness, old age, disease, death. Is it over now? No! there is more yet-awakening in Jesu’s likeness, thrones, harps, songs, psalms, white raiment, the face of Jesus, the society of saints, the glory of God, the fulness of eternity, the infinity of bliss. O be of good courage, believer, and with grateful confidence raise thy “Ebenezer,” for-

He who hath helped thee hitherto
Will help thee all thy journey through.

When read in heaven’s light how glorious and marvellous a prospect will thy “hitherto” unfold to thy grateful eye!

C.H. Spurgeon

He Was Sent…

He was sent to bring light

To those who seat in darkness

To bring recovery of sight

To those who grope in blindness.

He was sent

To those who labour in prison

The poor, oppressed, distressed.

He was sent to those bound by sin

In the dungeons and in a great mess.

He was sent

to those whose strength  is spent

those without hope;

those that are crooked-bent;

heart-broken and cannot cope.

 He was sent to you and I.

He was sent

to come down to our level

and to lift us up

Deal with the devil

Who came to usurp

He was sent

to those who fear;

who hide from His presence

Not knowing He’s always there and cares

And all they need do is come with repentance

 He was sent to bring a New Song

To those who mourn, singing old songs

Those who moan, groan and sigh

And have been sick for very long.

He was sent to announce a New Dawn.

He was sent

To stoop vey low

To raise us up high

To take our sorrows

And wipe the tears from our eyes.

Today, draw near to Him

And He will drew near to you

Open your heart to Him

And He will come into you.

To you He was sent

So do not relent

Only repent

Obey is commandment.

O What A Night!

Wishing you a joyous Christmas & Glorious New Year

 O what a night that saw His grace appearing

God came to man that man may come to God

No room in the inn yet God was still willing

To give His Son in fulfilment of His Word

The Promise long made will now be made good

Nothing can bar His purpose and plan

You can take His Word as your food

The Son of God must come to man

O what a night, that saw the Saviour come to man

O what a night, that saw the Saviour come to man

O what a Night the Light of God appearing

the answer to man’s separation

the long yawning gap to be greeted with bridging

the God of Hope restoring our hope

the prisoner of sin will find a sweet release

the Prince of peace will make reconciliation

to all those who call on Him

who bow the knee to the King of kings

O bow the knee to the King, the King of kings

O bow the knee to the King, the King of kings

The Birth of Jesus
 1In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3And everyone went to his own town to register.
 4So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (Luke 2:1-7)

Enigmatic Jesus

Enigmatic Jesus

God with us

The Word of Life

That brought us life

The Word, in the Beginning

Who was the beginning

The Word that was with God

The Word that was God

The Word that was

The Word that is

The Word that is to come.

Through Him was Creation

He makes us New Creations

He was truly Man and truly God

God came to man that man may come to God.

He owned the earth in all its fullness

But stooped so low to lift us out of our emptiness.

He was God’s brightness

In the world’s darkness

He came to reveal God to man

According the divine plan

He came to bridge the gap between man and God.

According to the Word of God

He came to His own

But He was disowned

He was born to die

To lift sinners high

As many as come to Him

As many as receive Him

Not based on their works

But based on His perfect work.

On the cross He paid the price

Gave His life, an atoning sacrifice.

The deal He did is a done deal

Not what anyone can steal.

With His blood the deal was sealed

And by His stripes we were healed.

Dead and buried, He rose again

Ascended on high and now He reigns.

Someday He is coming back again

Coming with a great victory train.

Are you ready for Him?

Are you routing for Him?

Are you waiting for Him?

Have you accepted Him

Not only as Lord

But also but as Saviour?

 Without the Way

You have lost your way

Without the truth

You have lost your root

Without the Life

You have no life.

John1:1-14

The Eternal Word

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

John’s Witness: The True Light

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

The Word Becomes Flesh

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John1:1-14

Lord, May You Find Room in My Inn

Lord, May You Find Room

There was no room in the inn

So baby Jesus was born in a barn

Lord, may you find a room

In my heart this Christmas.

Keep me from any rat race

That has nothing to do with you

Be at the centre of my pleasure

Be the director of my treasure

And the controller of my time.

Occupation and talents.

In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. Ps10:4

and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.Luke2:7

I know you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are ready to kill me, because you have no room for my word.John8:37

When Christmas Becomes Xmas

When Christmas has turned to Xmas

When Christmas has turned to Xmas

Music is playing, people are dancing

Gifts are given, drinks are flowing

Jesus knocks on the door

And He is turned away

Bouncer says: ‘You’re not on the guest list’

The party Boy is excluded form His party

And all the merriment is meaningless

All the running around is chasing the wind.

Lord, may you be my focus, this Christmas

Not the turkey, food and fanfare

Or presents without your presence

Lord, keep me from indulgence

Emptiness, worldliness and debt.

In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. Ps10:4

and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.Luke2:7

Babe Remembered At Christmas

The babe remembered at Christmas

Became the Lamb for the Masses

Enmeshed, shackled in sin,

Languishing in prison.

He was the babe endearing,

The Man of sorrows, rejected

The Saviour despised

In spite of His great love.

He was the Most High

Born to die

To lift us high

From the miry clay;

Give us a new day

Of salvation;

Make us New Creation,

Free from condemnation,

As we come in confession

With hearts of contrition,

Singing, ‘Glory to God in the highest

Who was and is and is to come!

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas

                and

Prosperous New Year!

Stand strong despite the test

Stand and surf the crest

Go forward with all zest

Know for sure you’re blest

If you and I do our best

God will surely do the rest.

Stay in the Middle of Your Vision

, in the middle of your field,

refuse to yield, defend your patch, strike the

Philistines down, fight even if others run, depend on God. God will bring

victory.

2Sam23:11-12-11  Next to him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When

the Philistines banded together at a place where there was a field full of

lentils, Israel’s troops fled from them. 12 But Shammah took his stand in the

middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and

the LORD brought about a great victory.

The Battle is the Lord’s

15 And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem,

and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid

nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours,

but God’s.

Put on God’s whole Armour

Eph6:10-18 0  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on

the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s

schemes. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the

rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and

against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put

on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be

able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with

the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with

the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this,

take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming

arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the

Spirit, which is the word of God.

18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and

requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all

the saints.

You’re in a warfare

2Cor10:3-5 3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world

does. 4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the

contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish

arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of

God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

You’re a soldier

2Tm:2:3: Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus

Christ.

2Tm:2:4: No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this

life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Take the kingdom by force

Matt.11:12 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom

of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

Fight the good fight of faith

2Tm:4:7: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept

the faith:

1Tm:6:12: Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto

thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many

witnesses.

1Co:9:26: I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that

beateth the air:

God is on your side

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be

against us?

Ac:5:39: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found

even to fight against God.

Sing a New Song 107

Ac:23:9: And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the

Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if

a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

Who shall separate us fro the Love of God?

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or

distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As

it is written:

“For Your sake we are killed all day long;

We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who

loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor

principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor

height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us

from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Zec:10:5: And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies

in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the

LORD is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.

Zec:14:3: Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations,

as when he fought in the day of battle.

Ph’p:1:6: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a

good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Ph’p:1:15: Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some

also of good will:

Ph’p:2:13: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of

his good pleasure.

Ph’p:2:19: But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto

you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

Fight for your mind

Ph’p:4:8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are

honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever

things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any

virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Take a leaf from Sir Winston Churchill and fight in Jesus Name until you

win. (4 June 1940) “I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is

neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made,

we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride

out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for

years, if necessary alone.

At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of His

Majesty’s Government-every man of them. That is the will of Parliament

and the nation.

The British Empire and the French Republic, linked together in their cause

and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each

other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength.

Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have

fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus

of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail.

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,

we shall fight on the seas and oceans,

we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we

shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,

we shall fight on the beaches,

we shall fight on the landing grounds,

we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,

we shall fight in the hills;

we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe,

this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our

Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would

carry on the struggle, until, in God’s good time, the New World, with all its

power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of th
